We consider an anisotropic phase‐field model for the isothermal solidification of a binary alloy due to Warren–Boettinger ( Acta. Metall. Mater. 1995; 43 (2):689). Existence of weak solutions is established under a certain convexity condition on the strongly non‐linear second‐order anisotropic operator and Lipschitz and boundedness assumptions for the non‐linearities. A maximum principle holds that guarantees the existence of a solution under physical assumptions on the non‐linearities. We study the theory ofc=1 torus and 2-orbifold models on general Riemann surfaces. The operator content and occurrence of multi-critical points in this class of theories is discussed. The partition functions and correlation functions of vertex operators and twist fields are calculated using the theory of double covered Riemann surfaces. It is shown that orbifold partition functions are sensitive to the Torelli group. We give an algebraic construction of the operator formulation of these nonchiral theories on higher genus surfaces. Modular transformations are naturally incorporated as canonical transformations in the Hilbert space.  相似文献

We introduce a compact two-photon fluorescence microendoscope based on a compound gradient refractive index endoscope probe, a DC micromotor for remote adjustment of the image plane, and a flexible photonic bandgap fiber for near distortion-free delivery of ultrashort excitation pulses. The imaging head has a mass of only 3.9 g and provides micrometer-scale resolution. We used portable two-photon microendoscopy to visualize hippocampal blood vessels in the brains of live mice.  相似文献

The triboelectric effect describes electrical charging when bringing different materials into contact. We report on the generation of hard X-ray radiation by peeling various adhesive tapes under medium vacuum conditions. Beside vacuum housing and pumps as instrumentation only an electric motor, two rolls and a metal foil as target material are necessary. The spectral distribution of generated X-rays was analyzed using an energy-dispersive detector. Depending on peeling speed, pressure and choice of material combination, electrons with energies sufficient to excite emission in the hard X-ray region are produced. The results are discussed in terms of triboelectric separation of charge carriers.  相似文献

A novel three-dimensional NMR experiment is reported that allows the observation of correlations between amide and other protons via residual dipolar couplings in partially oriented proteins. The experiment is designed to permit quantitative measurement of the magnitude of proton–proton residual dipolar couplings in larger molecules and at higher degree of alignments. The observed couplings contain data valuable for protein resonance assignment, local protein structure refinement, and determination of low-resolution protein folds.  相似文献

The use of optical traps to measure or apply forces on the molecular level requires a precise knowledge of the trapping force field. Close to the trap center, this field is typically approximated as linear in the displacement of the trapped microsphere. However, applications demanding high forces at low laser intensities can probe the light-microsphere interaction beyond the linear regime. Here, we measured the full nonlinear force and displacement response of an optical trap in two dimensions using a dual-beam optical trap setup with back-focal-plane photodetection. We observed a substantial stiffening of the trap beyond the linear regime that depends on microsphere size, in agreement with Mie theory calculations. Surprisingly, we found that the linear detection range for forces exceeds the one for displacement by far. Our approach allows for a complete calibration of an optical trap.  相似文献
