On weak structures due to Császár

In [4], Császár has introduced the notions of weak structures and the structures α(w), π(w), σ(w), β(w). The main aim of this paper is to introduce and study properties of the structures r(w), α(w), π(w), σ(w) and β(w).     

An application of derivative and continuous wavelet transforms to the overlapping ratio spectra for the quantitative multiresolution of a ternary mixture of paracetamol, acetylsalicylic acid and caffeine in tablets

Quantitative multiresolution of tablets and ternary mixtures of paracetamol (PAR), acetylsalicylic acid (ASP) and caffeine (CAF) having strongly overlapping spectra was accomplished by two graphical transform methods as ratio spectra first derivative-zero crossing and ratio spectra-continuous wavelet transform-zero crossing (ratio spectra CWT-zero crossing) methods. In this study, ratio spectra derivative-zero crossing and ratio spectra CWT-zero crossing methods are based on the use of transformed signals of the ratio spectra and their calibration graphs were obtained by measuring the dA/dλ and CWT amplitudes of the ratio spectra corresponding to zero crossing points. For the comparison purpose, PLS calibration method was applied to predict the content of the same mixtures containing the subject active compounds. The obtained calibrations were tested by using the synthetic mixtures and standard addition technique and they applied to the simultaneous determination of PAR, ASP and CAF in commercial pharmaceutical preparation. The obtained results were statistically compared with each other as well as those obtained by HPLC method and they showed good agreement.     

Chemometric determination of naproxen sodium and pseudoephedrine hydrochloride in tablets by HPLC

A new chemometric determination by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with photodiode array (PDA) detection was implemented for the simultaneous determination of naproxen sodium and pseudoephedrine hydrochloride in tablets. Three chemometric calibration techniques, classical least squares (CLS), principle component regression (PCR) and partial least squares (PLS) were applied to the peak area at multiwavelength PDA detector responses. The combinations of HPLC with chemometric calibration techniques were called HPLC-CLS, HPLC-PCR and HPLC-PLS. For comparison purposes the HPLC method called the classic HPLC method was used to confirm the results obtained from combined HPLC-chemometric calibration techniques. A good chromatographic separation between two drugs with losartan potassium as an internal standard was achieved using a Waters Symmetry C18 Column 5 microm 4.6+/-250 mm and a mobile phase containing 0.2 M acetate buffer and acetonitrile (v/v, 40:60). The multiwavelength PDA detection was measured at five different wavelengths. The chromatograms were recorded as a training set in the mobile phase. Three HPLC-chemometric calibrations and the classic-HPLC method were used to test the synthetic mixtures of naproxen sodium and pseudoephedrine hydrochloride in the presence of the internal standard. The HPLC-chemometric approaches were applied to real samples containing drugs of interest. The experimental results obtained from HPLC-chemometric calibrations were compared with those obtained by a classic HPLC method.     

Electrochromic Properties of ‘Trimeric' Thiophene‐pyrrole‐thiophene Derivative Grown from Electrodeposited 6‐(2,5‐di(thiophen‐2‐yl)‐1H‐pyrrol‐1‐yl)hexan‐1‐amine and its Copolymer

A centrosymmetric polymer precursor, namely 6‐(2,5‐di(thiophen‐2‐yl)‐1H‐pyrrol‐1‐yl)hexan‐1‐amine (TPHA), was synthesized via a Knorr–Paal reaction using 1,4‐di(2‐thienyl)‐1,4‐butanedione and hexane‐1,6‐diamine. The resultant monomer was characterized by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (¹H‐NMR). Electroactivity of TPHA was investigated via cyclic voltammetry. The electronic structure and the nature of electrochromism in P(TPHA) and its copolymer with EDOT, (P(TPHA‐co‐EDOT)), were examined via spectroelectrochemistry studies. P(TPHA) switches between claret red neutral state and blue oxidized state. Optical response times for coloring and bleaching processes of the P(TPHA) and P(TPHA‐co‐EDOT) were found as 2.1 s and 1.6 s, respectively.

The copolymer of TPHA was used to construct dual type polymer electrochromic devices (ECDs) against poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT). Spectroelectrochemistry and electrochromic switching out of the devices were investigated.     

Coupled coincidence point results on generalized distance in ordered cone metric spaces

In this paper, we establish some coupled coincidence point results in the setting of partially ordered cone metric spaces via $c$ -distance. We also proved some related coupled common fixed point theorems for such mappings. Our results generalize, extend, and unify several well-known comparable results in the literature regarding this topic. We present some examples to illustrate the concepts and results.     

Relations between simplicial groups, 3-crossed modules and 2-quadratic modules

In this paper, we define two-quadratic module and explore the relations among two-quadratic modules, three-crossed modules and simplicial groups.     

β−type fractional Sturm‐Liouville Coulomb operator and applied results

In this article, β‐type fractional Sturm‐Liouville Coulomb operator is considered by Hilfer fractional derivative. Fundamental spectral theory is investigated for the aforementioned problem. In this context, it is shown that the operator is self‐adjoint, eigenfunctions correspond to the distinct eigenfunctions are orthogonal, and eigenvalues are real. Furthermore, applications of this problem are given by the Adomian decomposition method and the results are shown with visual graphs.     

Coordination of staffing and pricing decisions in a service firm

Customer demand is sensitive to the price paid for the service in many service environments. Using queueing theory framework, we develop profit maximization models for jointly determining the price and the staffing level in a service company. The models include constraints on the average waiting time and the blocking probability. We show convexity of the single‐variable subproblem under certain plausible assumptions on the demand and staffing cost functions. Using numerical examples, we investigate the sensitivity of the price and the staffing level to changes in the marginal service cost and the user‐specified constraint on the congestion measure. Monoterpenoid glucoindole alkaloids and iridoids from Pterocephalus pinardii

A new secondary metabolite, pterocephaline, along with the known cantleyoside, 7α‐morroniside, 3β,5α‐tetrahydrodesoxycordifoline lactam, 5S‐5‐carboxyvincoside, sweroside, and loganin have been isolated from the aerial parts of P. pinardii (Dipsacaceae). Moreover, cantleyoside‐methyl‐hemiacetal and cantleyoside‐dimethyl‐acetal were obtained as seco‐iridoid artifacts. The structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic methods including 1D‐(¹H, ¹³C and TOCSY) and 2D‐NMR (DQF‐COSY, HSQC and HMBC). Monoterpenoid glucoindole alkaloids were encountered for the first time in Dipsacaceae family. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
