Self-absorption effects leading to curvatures of the upper part of calibration graphs were investigated in multichannel detection ICP–AES. A dual view Optima 3000 ICP system was used to enable the simultaneous determination of 38 lines for both radial and axial viewing. Resonance and non-resonance lines were selected for both atomic and ionic lines. The concentrations of 22 standards were in the range 0.1–100 mg L–1 and two sets of operating conditions, namely power and carrier gas flow rate, were used to evaluate their influence. It was found that these two conditions, and in particular the carrier gas flow rate, play a major role in self-absorption effects. Except for strongly absorbing lines, it was possible, under suitable conditions, to reduce or to suppress differences between self-absorption effects in radial and axial viewing, enabling extension of the range of linearity of axial viewing to higher concentrations. A diagnostic tool, based on emission line ratios, is proposed for detection of self-absorption. A calibration procedure is given for strongly absorbing lines affected by self-absorption even when operating conditions were optimized.  相似文献

The carbon isotope composition of leaf bulk organic matter was determined on the tropical tree Elaeis guineensis Jacq. (oil palm) in North Sumatra (Indonesia) to get a better understanding of the changes in carbon metabolism during the passage from heterotrophy to autotrophy of the leaves. Leaf soluble sugar (sucrose, glucose and fructose) contents, stomatal conductance and dark respiration, as well as leaf chlorophyll and nitrogen contents, were also investigated. Different growing stages were sampled from leaf rank ?6 to rank 57. The mean values for the δ13C of bulk organic matter were ?29.01 ± 0.9‰ for the leaflets during the autotrophic stage, ?27.87 ± 1.08‰ for the petioles and ?28.17 ± 1.09‰ for the rachises, which are in the range of expected values for a C3 plant. The differences in δ13C among leaf ranks clearly revealed the changes in the origin of the carbon source used for leaf growth. Leaves were 13C‐enriched at ranks below zero (around ?27‰). During this period, the ‘spear’ leaves were completely heterotrophic and reserves from storage organs were mobilised for the growth of these young emerging leaves. 13C‐depletion was then observed when the leaf was expanding at rank 1, and there was a continuous decrease during the progressive passage from heterotrophy until reaching full autotrophy. Thereafter, the δ13C remained more or less constant at around ?29.5‰. Changes in sugar content and in δ13C related to leaf ranks showed an interesting similarity of the passage from heterotrophy to autotrophy of oil palm leaves to the budburst of some temperate trees or seed germination reported in the literature. Segonzacia mesatlantica (Crustacea; Decapoda; Brachyura) is the only endemic crab species known from the Mid-Atlantic Ridge (MAR) hydrothermal vents. Known from all explored sites in the Atlantic, its wide distribution makes this species a model to study physiological adaptation, and specifically respiratory strategies. Native haemocyanin (Hc) comprises four non-covalent associations in equilibrium formed by monomers, hexamers, dodecamers and octadecamers made up of approximately 75 kDa polypeptide chains. Four different amino acid chains are observed with a molecular mass ranging from 75,234 to 75,972 Da. Experiments carried-out under pressure suggested that the percentage of monomer increased in the haemolymph under hypoxic condition. We have also observed a shift of the proportion of the two dodecamer series, suggesting a rapid modification of the Hc phenotype between hypoxic and hyperoxic conditions. Native Hc possesses a high oxygen affinity ( P50 = 2.2 Torr at 15 degrees C and pH 7.5), a large Bohr effect (Deltalog P50 / DeltapH approximately -2.7) and a slightly reverse temperature effect (DeltaH = +17.19 kJ mol(-1). The composition of Segonzacia haemolymph is similar to that of other littoral species except for the large enrichment in free copper and zinc. As for other species from hydrothermal vent sites, Segonzacia haemolymph possesses a higher buffer capacity than littoral species. Moreover, species from the hydrothermal vent decapods from Pacific hydrothermal vent that encounter higher CO2 content in their environment have a higher buffer capacity than Atlantic vent species. The results presented are discussed in relation with the physico-chemical characteristics of the hydrothermal vent environment.  相似文献

This paper reports on a novel procedure to tune the effective diffusion coefficient of a field-sensitive reactant in the presence of a periodic external field. We investigate the motion of two negatively charged azo dyes interacting with alpha-cyclodextrin (alpha-CD) upon action of a periodic square wave electrical field. We show that the dyes exhibit an effective diffusion coefficient D(eff) that depends on the rate constants for dye complexation within alpha-CD, the period and the amplitude of the field. UV-vis absorption, gradient field (1)H NMR, and fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) after two photon excitation are used to evidence that D(eff) may be increased far beyond its intrinsic value when specific relations interpreted as a stochastic resonance are fulfilled. The present results may find useful applications in chemical kinetics as well as for molecular sorting.  相似文献

In this paper the effect of varying temperature, pressure and chemical precursors on the vapour–liquid–solid (VLS) growth of silicon nanowires (Si NWs) have been investigated. Some aspects of nucleation and growth mechanisms are discussed. Ultrafine PbZr0.20Ti0.80O3 was amorphized through high-energy mechanical milling. The structural evolution through the amorphization process was accompanied by various characterization techniques, such as X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transformed IR spectroscopy (FTIR), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), and Raman spectroscopy. A strong photoluminescence was measured at room temperature for amorphized PbZr0.20Ti0.80O3, and interpreted by means of high-level quantum mechanical calculations in the density functional theory framework. Three periodic models were used to represent the crystalline and amorphized PbZr0.20Ti0.80O3, and they allowed the calculation of electronic properties that are consistent with the experimental data and that explain the appearance of photoluminescence.  相似文献

Carboxylic esters were successfully labeled with one of two short-lived positron-emitters, carbon-11 or fluorine-18, within a hydrodynamically-driven micro-reactor. The non-radioactive methyl ester was obtained at room temperature; its yield increased with higher substrate concentration and with reduced infusion rate. Radioactive methyl ester was obtained from the reaction of (10 mM) with in 56% decay-corrected radiochemical yield (RCY) at an infusion rate of 10 microL min(-1), and when the infusion rate was reduced to 1 microL min(-1), the RCY increased to 88%. The synthesis of the non-radioactive fluoroethyl ester from and required heating of the micro-reactor on a heating block at 80 degrees C (14-17% RCY), whilst the corresponding radioactive from and was obtained in 10% RCY. The radioactive 'peripheral' benzodiazepine receptor ligand was obtained from the reaction of acid with labeling agent in 45% RCY at an infusion rate of 10 microL min(-1). When the infusion rate was reduced to 1 microL min(-1), the RCY increased to 65%. The results exemplify a new methodology for producing radiotracers for imaging with positron emission tomography that has many potential advantages, including a requirement for small quantities of substrates, enhanced reaction, rapid reaction optimisation and easy product purification.  相似文献

Hyperpolarization is generated by dissolution dynamic nuclear polarization (d‐DNP) using a polymer‐based polarizing agent dubbed FLAP (filterable labeled agents for polarization). It consists of a thermo‐responsive poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide), also known as pNiPAM‐COOH, labeled with nitroxide radicals. The polymer powder is impregnated with an arbitrary solution of interest and frozen as is. Dissolution is followed by a simple filtration, leading to hyperpolarized solutions free from any contaminants. We demonstrated the use of FLAP to hyperpolarize partially deuterated water up to P(1H)=6 % with a long relaxation T1 >36 s characteristic of high purity. Water hyperpolarization can be transferred to drugs, metabolites, or proteins that are waiting in an NMR spectrometer, either by exchange of labile protons or through intermolecular Overhauser effects. We also show that FLAPs are suitable polarizing agents for 13C‐labeled metabolites such as pyruvate, acetate, and alanine.  相似文献
