The effect of donor (D)–acceptor (A) alignment on the materials electronic structure was probed for the first time using novel purely organic porous crystalline materials with covalently bound two- and three-dimensional acceptors. The first studies towards estimation of charge transfer rates as a function of acceptor stacking are in line with the experimentally observed drastic, eight-fold conductivity enhancement. The first evaluation of redox behavior of buckyball- or tetracyanoquinodimethane-integrated crystalline was conducted. In parallel with tailoring the D-A alignment responsible for “static” changes in materials properties, an external stimulus was applied for “dynamic” control of the electronic profiles. Overall, the presented D–A strategic design, with stimuli-controlled electronic behavior, redox activity, and modularity could be used as a blueprint for the development of electroactive and conductive multidimensional and multifunctional crystalline porous materials.  相似文献

Battery separator is a porous membrane that is placed between the positive and negative electrodes to avoid their electric contact, while maintaining a good ionic flow through the liquid electrolyte filled in its pores. Non-woven mats have been evaluated as battery separators due to their highly porous structures. In this study, composite non-woven mats were fabricated through electrospinning and lamination with a ceramic layer, and evaluated as lithium ion battery separators. The lamination with the ceramic layer provides not only improved separator dimensional stability at elevated temperatures but also the potential to increase the production rate of electrospun separators. The electrospun mats keep ceramic particles from dropping avoiding the non-uniform current density distribution caused by the loss of the ceramic particles. The composite separators enabled good ionic conductivity when saturated with a liquid electrolyte. Coin cells with this type of separators showed not only stable cycling performance but also good rate capabilities at room temperature.  相似文献

We report the first examples of purely organic donor–acceptor materials with integrated π‐bowls (πBs) that combine not only crystallinity and high surface areas but also exhibit tunable electronic properties, resulting in a four‐orders‐of‐magnitude conductivity enhancement in comparison with the parent framework. In addition to the first report of alkyne–azide cycloaddition utilized for corannulene immobilization in the solid state, we also probed the charge transfer rate within the Marcus theory as a function of mutual πB orientation for the first time, as well as shed light on the density of states near the Fermi edge. These studies could foreshadow new avenues for πB utilization for the development of optoelectronic devices or a route for highly efficient porous electrodes.  相似文献

Catechins, naturally occurring flavonoids derived from wine and green tea, are known to exhibit multiple health benefits. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is one of the most widely investigated catechins, but its efficacy in cancer therapy is still inconsistent and limited. The poor stability of EGCG has contributed to the disparity in the reported anti-cancer activity and other beneficial properties. Here we report an innovative enzymatic strategy for the oligomerization of catechins (specifically epicatechin) that yields stable, water-soluble oligomerized epicatechins with enhanced and highly specific anti-proliferative activity for human breast cancer cells. This one-pot oxidative oligomerization is carried out in ambient conditions using Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) as a catalyst yielding water-soluble oligo(epicatechins). The oligomerized epicatechins obtained exhibit excellent growth inhibitory effects against human breast cancer cells with greater specificity towards growth-inhibiting cancer cells as opposed to normal cells, achieving a high therapeutic differential. Our studies indicate that water-soluble oligomeric epicatechins surpass EGCG in stability, selectivity and efficacy at lower doses.  相似文献

Nonmelanoma skin cancer resulting from UVB exposure is a large and growing problem in the United States. Production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) during the UVB-induced inflammatory response results in the formation of oxidative DNA adducts such as 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanine (8-oxo-dG), which have been shown to contribute to the development of this cancer. The 8-oxoguanine DNA glycosylase (OGG1) enzyme repairs 8-oxo-dG adducts, suggesting that enhancing its activity in the skin might increase 8-oxo-dG repair thus preventing skin cancer development. We therefore used the SKH-1 murine model to examine the effect of topically applied OGG1 on UVB-induced skin cancer development. Mice were exposed three times weekly to UVB followed immediately by topical treatment with a formulation of liposome-encapsulated OGG1 enzyme for 25 weeks. While this treatment did not affect UVB-induced tumor multiplicity, it did reduce tumor size and dramatically reduced tumor progression, as indicated by tumor grade. These results suggest that oxidative DNA damage contributes to the progression of UVB-induced skin tumors and that a topical formulation containing OGG1, perhaps in conjunction with other DNA repair enzymes such as T4 endonuclease V, could be used in populations at high risk for skin cancer development.  相似文献

This paper reports the design and optimization of a double-stranded molecular probe for homogeneous detection of specific nucleotide sequences. The probes are labeled with either a fluorophore or a quencher such that the probe hybridization brings the two labels into close proximity, and this diminishes the fluorescence signal in the absence of a target. In the presence of a target, the fluorophore probe is thermodynamically driven to unzip from its hybridized form and bind with the target. An equilibrium analysis, which successfully describes all the major features of the assay without any fitting parameter, is performed to generalize the design of the probe. Several key parameters affecting the performance of the assay are examined. We show that the dynamic range and the signal-to-noise ratio of the assay can be optimized by the probe concentration, the quencher-to-fluorophore ratio, and the probe strand sequence. By proper design of the sequence, the probe discriminates single nucleotide mismatches in a single step without any separation step or measurement of melting profile.  相似文献
