Pressure broadening coefficients of the water vapor lines at 556.936 and 752.033 GHz

The air induced broadening coefficients of the pure rotational transitions of H₂O at 556.936 GHz (1₁₀←1₀₁), and 752.033 GHz (2₁₁←2₀₂) were measured by terahertz time-domain spectroscopy. The air broadening coefficient was determined to be for the 556.936 GHz line and for the 752.033 GHz line, respectively. The present broadening coefficients for the 556.936 GHz water line are significantly smaller than those of Markov and Krupnov [Measurements of the pressure shift of the 1(10)-1(01) water line at 556.936 GHz produced by mixtures of gases. J Mol Spect 1995:172;211-4] but relatively close to the values of the HITRAN database. The measured data may improve the accuracy of the abundance of water vapor retrieved from spectra obtained by the Odin/SMR satellite instrument. The effect on the satellite retrieval processing is discussed.     

Eigenvalues and the One-Dimensional p-Laplacian

We consider the boundary value problem (?_p(u′))′ + λF(t, u) = 0, with p > 1, t ∈ (0, 1), u(0) = u(1) = 0, and with λ > 0. The value of λ is chosen so that the boundary value problem has a positive solution. In addition, we derive an explicit interval for λ such that, for any λ in this interval, the existence of a positive solution to the boundary value problem is guaranteed. In addition, the existence of two positive solutions for λ in an appropriate interval is also discussed.     

Synthesis of BF2 chelates of tetraarylazadipyrromethenes and evidence for their photodynamic therapeutic behaviour

The synthesis, spectroscopic characteristics and in vitro cellular uptake properties of a new class of therapeutic window photosensitiser, namely the BF2 chelates of 3,5-diaryl-1H-pyrrol-2-yl-3,5-diarylpyrrol-2-ylidene amines (tetra-arylazadipyrromethenes), are described with the aim of developing a novel class of photodynamic therapeutic agents.     

An Upper and Lower Solution Theory for the Problem （G＇（y））＇ ＋ f（t,y）= 0 on Finite and Infinite Intervals

A new upper and lower solution theory is presented for the second order problem （G＇（y））＇＋ f（t, y） = 0 on finite and infinite intervals. The theory on finite intervals is based on a Leray-Schauder alternative, where as the theory on infinite intervals is based on results on the finite interval and a diagonalization process.     

Integral inclusions of upper semi-continuous or lower semi-continuous type

Topological results for set valued maps are used to establish existence results for integral inclusions of Volterra or Hammerstein type.

     

Constant-Sign Solutions of a System of Fredholm Integral Equations

We consider the following system of Fredholm intergral equations u _i (t)=₀ ¹ g _i (t,s)f _i (s,u ₁(s),u ₂(s),...,u _n (s)) ds, t[0,1], 1in. Criteria are offered for the existence of single, double and multiple solutions of the system that are of constant signs. The generality of the results obtained is illustrated through applications to several well known boundary value problems. We also extend the above system of Fredholm intergral equations to that on the half-line [0,) u _i (t)=₀ g _i (t,s)f _i (s,u ₁(s),u ₂(s),...,u _n (s)) ds, t[0,), 1in and investigate the existence of constant-sign solutions.
