Entire Functions of Bounded Type on Fréchet Spaces

We show that holomorphic mappings of bounded type defined on Fréchet spaces extend to the bidual. The relationship between holomorphic mappings of bounded type and of uniformly bounded type is discussed and some algebraic and topological properties of the space of all entire mappings of (uniformly) bounded type are proved, for example a holomorphic version of Schauder's theorem.     

Neutron response study of two CR-39 personal dosemeters with air and Nylon converters

A neutron personal dosemeter using CR-39 as a detector and hydrogenated materials as proton converters for fast neutron detection plus an air layer for thermal neutron detection is being developed in our laboratory. To increase the CR-39 response to thermal neutrons, the air converter was substituted with Nylon in some dosemeters. Several dosemeters with these two configurations were mounted on a water-filled phantom and exposed under different incidence angles (0, 30 and 60) to: (i) Three ISO neutron sources (²⁴¹Am–Be, bare ²⁵²Cf and moderated ²⁵²Cf with Cd shielding), and (ii) two realistic neutron sources (SIGMA and moderated ²⁵²Cf) at the IRSN (Cadarache) facilities. The irradiated detectors were electrochemically etched and evaluated in order to determine their dose equivalent response in terms of H_p(10,α). The results obtained are compared to those obtained from Monte Carlo simulations using the MCNPX code.     

Nonarithmetic uniformization of some real moduli spaces

Some real moduli spaces can be presented as real hyperbolic space modulo a non-arithmetic group. The whole moduli space is made from some incommensurable arithmetic pieces, in the spirit of the construction of Gromov and Piatetski-Shapiro.     

Almost contact metric submersions

In this paper we start with a brief survey on the theory of Riemannian submersions between almost contact metric manifolds.     

Determining Optimum Fertilizer Combinations Through Goal Programming with Penalty Functions: An Application to Sugar Beet production in Spain

A goal programming model was used to analyse optimum fertilizer combinations. Under this approach, the fertilizer requirements, instead of being fixed values as in traditional linear programming, are considered targets which may or may not be achieved. A penalty system coupled to the goal programming model makes the specified lower and upper levels of nutrients more flexible and realistic. A simple example is used to expound the model, and then applied to real data to give optimum combinations of fertilizers for sugar beet in Western Andalusia (Spain).     

Coexistence of ferro- and antiferromagnetic interactions in a metal-organic radical-based (6,3)-helical network with large channels

A metal-organic open-framework with an unprecedented (6,3)-helical topology, large channels and mixed ferro- and antiferromagnetic interactions has been synthesized using a three-connecting tricarboxylic polychlorotriphenylmethyl radical and Co(ii) ions.     

On closures of joint similarity orbits

For an n-tuple T=(T₁,..., T_n) of operators on a Hilbert spacexxHx, the joint similarity orbit of T isxxSx(T)={VTV^–1 =(VT₁V^–1,...,VT_nV^–1): V is invertible onxxHx}. We study the structure of the norm closure ofxxSx, both in the case when T is commutative and when it is not. We first develop a Rota-model for the Taylor spectrum and use it to study n-tuples with totally disconnected Taylor spectrum, in particular quasinilpotent ones. We then consider limits of nilpotent n-tuples, and of normal n-tuples. For noncommuting n-tuples, we present a number of surprising facts relating the closure ofxxSx(T) to the Harte spectrum of T and the lack of commutativity of T. We show that a continuous function which is constant onxxSx(T) for all T must be constant. We conclude the paper with a detailed study of closed similarity orbits.Research partially supported by grants from the National Science Foundation.     

A study of the reaction 2H(π±, p)X

We have studied the excitation function of the reaction ²H(π^±, p)X at a fixed proton angle of 90° for several fixed proton momenta of the detected proton as a function of the incident pion energy. No signal was found for a previous candidate for a dibaryon resonance around a mass of 2.23 GeV. The general trend of the data is reproduced by a multiple scattering theory
