The phase inversion that undergoes an emulsion while being sheared is a sudden phenomenon that is still puzzling. In this Letter, we report an experimental investigation on propagative coalescence by using a microfluidic device where a calibrated two-dimensional emulsion is created and destabilized. The velocity of propagation and the probability of the coalescence are reported as a function of the size and the spatial distribution of the drops, respectively. We then discuss the efficiency of this novel scenario of phase inversion and suggest that inversion can be favored by the existence of a drop size distribution.  相似文献

Milled corncob samples were mixed with water and heated to obtain a liquid phase containing oligosaccharides, sugars, and acetic acid as main reaction products (autohydrolysis reaction). To hydrolyze the sugar oligomers to the correspondent monomers, sulfuric acid was added to the autohydrolysis liquors to reach 0.5–2 wt% of solution, and the reaction media were heated at 101.5–135°C. With this operational procedure, sugar solutions suitable as fermentation media (containing xylose as the major component) were obtained. The kinetics of the posthydrolysis step was characterized on the basis of experimental data concerning the time courses of the concentrations of xylooligosaccharides, xylose, furfural, and acetic acid. The concentrations of other reaction byproducts (glucose or arabinose) were also measured.  相似文献

The one dimensional oscillator with a semi-transparent wall is considered. We study the time dependence of the eigentstates of energy with complex eigenvalues and demonstrate that their time evolution exhibits time asymmetry. The [2+2+2] cycloaddition is an elegant, atom-efficient and group tolerant process for the synthesis of carbo- and heterocycles, mostly aromatic, involving the formation of several C-C bonds in a single step. Cyclotrimerisation is catalyzed by a variety of organometallic complexes, including more than 15 different metals. The aim of this tutorial review is to point out the most recent advances in this field and to encourage the use of this reaction enroute to complex molecules. After summarizing the most common catalysts and reaction conditions generally used, we survey the mechanistic features currently accepted for this reaction. Section 4 covers the scope of the different [2+2+2] cycloaddition versions starting with the cyclotrimerisation of three triple bonds, including nitriles, with especial emphasis on asymmetric reactions that create central, axial or planar chirality. Then, reactions that use double bonds are addressed. Finally, the most outstanding examples of natural products synthesis using [2+2+2] cycloadditions as a key step reported recently are shown.  相似文献

A novel polysaccharide-based chiral stationary phase (CSP), cellulose tris(3-chloro-4-methylphenylcarbamate), also known as Sepapak-2 or Lux Cellulose-2, has been evaluated for the enantiomeric separation of FMOC derivatives of amino acids. After mobile-phase optimization in nano liquid chromatography (nano-LC) the column enabled the enantiomeric separation of 19 out of 23 amino acids tested, indicating the high chiral recognition power of this new CSP. Subsequently, a comparison of the driving force employed (pressure or voltage) was carried out comparing nano-LC and CEC under the same conditions. Better peak efficiencies and resolution were observed by using CEC experiments, which enabled the chiral discrimination of 20 out of 23 amino acids tested. Finally, in order to show the potential of this new CSP, the determination of the content and the enantiomeric purity of the non-protein amino acid citrulline in food supplements was performed. For that purpose, the method was optimized, evaluated and applied to different commercial samples.  相似文献

Human islet amyloid polypeptide (IAPP) is the major component of the amyloid deposits found in the pancreatic islets of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. After synthesis, IAPP is stored in the β-cell granules of the pancreas at a pH of approximately 5.5 and released into the extracellular compartment at a pH of 7.4. To gain insight into the possible consequences of pH differences for properties and membrane interaction of IAPP, we here compared the aggregational and conformational behavior of IAPP as well as IAPP-membrane interactions at pH 5.5 and pH 7.4. Our data reveal that a low pH decreases the rate of fibril formation both in solution and in the presence of membranes. We observed by CD spectroscopy that these differences in kinetics are directly linked to changes in the conformational behavior of the peptide. Mechanistically, the processes that occur at pH 5.5 and pH 7.4 appear to be similar. At both pH values, we found that the kinetic profile of IAPP fibril growth matches the kinetic profile of IAPP-induced membrane damage, and that both are characterized by a lag phase and a sigmoidal transition. Furthermore, monolayer studies as well as solid-state NMR experiments indicate that the differences in kinetics and conformational behavior as function of pH are not due to a different mode of membrane insertion. Our study suggests that a low pH prevents aggregation and membrane damage of IAPP in the secretory granules, most likely by affecting the ionization properties of the peptide.  相似文献

An operational modification of Tafel analysis, applied to the intermediate region of square wave voltammetric curves, devoted to the identification of corrosion products on archaeological metal, is described. This is based on the voltammetry of microparticles methodology using conventional abrasive conditioning of the electrode, as well as ‘one‐touch’ and layer‐by‐layer techniques. The proposed methodology is applied to the identification of copper and silver corrosion products in mediaeval silver‐copper coins from the Libertad street hoard in Valencia (Spain).  相似文献

The determination of bioactive peptides derived from food sources is gaining special attention in last years, due to their ability to promote health and their potential to reduce the risk of chronic diseases. In this work, a new analytical methodology has been developed enabling for the first time the determination of soymetide, a new immunostimulating peptide derived from soybean, in different soybean derived foodstuffs. Capillary-HPLC was employed for peptide separation after accelerated tryptic digestion of soybean proteins. Two different capillary-HPLC columns were tested and chromatographic separation was optimized in each case. The use of a 300 μm fused-core technology C18 column enabled a suitable separation of soymetide from the other peptides in less than 18 min. Different analytical characteristics of the method were evaluated: selectivity, linearity, accuracy, precision, limit of detection and quantitation, and stability. The developed method was applied to the determination of soymetide content in different soybean dairy-like products for human consumption (powdered milks and infant formulas).  相似文献
