A novel sample environment enabling optical pump – nuclear resonance probe experiments has been installed at the beamline P01, Petra III, DESY Hamburg. This set-up has been used to investigate optically induced spin state changes of spin crossover (SCO) complexes by nuclear resonant scattering immediately after excitation by an optical laser pulse. Here, we report the technical details as well as first results of the experiments performed at 290 K and 80 K on the SCO complexes [Fe (NH2trz)3]Cl2 and [Fe(PM-BiA)2(NCS)2], respectively. The 57Fe-enriched SCO complexes were excited by a 531 nm laser with a pulse length <?100 ps. Evaluation of the nuclear forward scattering data clearly indicate the presence of high spin (HS) states when the complexes are excited by laser pulses and a pure low spin (LS) state in the absence of any laser pulse. Furthermore, the dependence of the optically excited HS-fraction has been determined as a function of the average optical power.  相似文献

We observe experimentally higher-order solitons in waveguide arrays with defocusing saturable nonlinearity. Such solitons can comprise several in-phase bright spots and are stable above a critical power threshold. We elucidate the impact of the nonlinearity saturation on the domains of existence and stability of the observed complex soliton states.  相似文献

We investigate the excitation of surface plasmon polaritons on silver tubes with finite-difference time-domain simulations. These surface plasmon polaritons exhibit azimuthal whispering gallery modes with quality factors in the hundreds. We show that the high quality factors arise from the coupling of the surface plasmon modes to photonic modes inside the tube. We examine the influence of a gain material on the quality factors and find that for material data of rhodamine 6G, the quality factors are enhanced significantly up to values of 3000.  相似文献

Luminescent response of anthracene to channeled α-particles transmitted parallel to the [001]-axis is investigated. A simple theoretical model is presented and comparisons made with experiment. For a given specific energy lossdE/dx the luminescent response to channeled α-particles is the same as to randomly incident particles. This result is concluded from the good agreement of theoretical calculations and experimental measurements within the accuracy of about ± 3%. The relationship between specific luminescencedS/dx of anthracene and specific energy lossdE/dx is used for the calculations. It is obtained by fitting experimental values to the theoretical expression.  相似文献

In Taylor-Couette flow the total energy dissipation rate and therefore the drag can be determined by measuring the torque on the system. We do so for Reynolds numbers between Re=7 x 10(4) and Re=10(6) after having injected (i) small bubbles (R=1 mm) up to a volume concentration of alpha=5% and (ii) buoyant particles (rhop/rhol=0.14) of comparable volume concentration. In case (i) we observe a crossover from little drag reduction at smaller Re to strong drag reduction up to 20% at Re=10(6). In case (ii) we observe at most little drag reduction throughout. Several theoretical models for bubbly drag reduction are discussed in view of our findings.  相似文献
