First‐principles modeling can be a powerful tool for the understanding and optimization of bottom‐up processes for nanomaterials fabrication, such as chemical vapor deposition (CVD), a key technology for the development of advanced systems and devices. Molecule‐to‐material conversion by CVD involves complex chemical phenomena, which are often obscure and still largely unexplored. A proper modeling would require high level of accuracy, large sized models and should include both temperature effects and statistical sampling of reactive events. By presenting a few selected examples, this perspective surveys such problems and discusses currently available approaches for their solution. The in situ observation of a sol‐to‐gel transition in fast evaporating systems is a challenging task and the lack of a suitable experimental design, which includes the chemistry and the analytical method, has limited the observations. We synthesise an acidic sol, employing only tetraethylorthosilicate, SiCl4 as catalyst and deuterated water; the absence of water added to the sol allows us to follow the absorption from the external environment and the evaporation of deuterated water. The time‐resolved data, obtained by attenuated total reflection infrared spectroscopy on an evaporating droplet, enables us to identify four different stages during evaporation. They are linked to specific hydrolysis and condensation rates that affect the uptake of water from external environment. The second stage is characterized by a decrease in hydroxyl content, a fast rise of condensation rate and an almost stationary absorption of water. This stage has been associated with the sol‐to‐gel transition. 相似文献

Fullerene‐based tetrads, triads, and dyads are presented in which [60]fulleropyrrolidine synthons are linked to an oligo(p‐phenyleneethynylene) antenna at the nitrogen atom and to electron‐donor phenothiazine (PTZ) and/or ferrocene (Fc) moieties at the α carbon of the pyrrolidine cycle through an acetylene spacer. Cyclic voltammetry and UV/ Vis absorption spectra evidence negligible ground‐state electronic interactions among the subunits. By contrast, strong excited‐state interactions are detected upon selective light irradiation of the antenna (UV) or of the fullerene scaffold (Vis). When only PTZ is present as electron donor, photoinduced electron transfer to the fullerene unit is unambiguously detected in benzonitrile, but this is not the case when Fc is part of the multicomponent system. These results suggest that Fc is a formidable energy transfer quencher and caution should be used in choosing it as electron donor to promote efficient charge separation in multicomponent arrays. 相似文献

Highly phosphorescent blue-light-emitting anionic iridium complexes (C4H9)4N[Ir(2-phenylpyridine)2(CN)2] (1), (C4H9)4N[Ir(2-phenyl-4-dimethylaminopyridine)2(CN)2] (2), (C4H9)4N[Ir(2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)-pyridine)2(CN)2] (3), (C4H9)4N[Ir(2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)-4-dimethylaminopyridine)2(CN)2] (4), and (C4H9)4N[Ir(2-(3,5-difluorophenyl)-4-dimethylaminopyridine)2(CN)2] (5) were synthesized and characterized using NMR, UV-vis absorption, and emission spectroscopy and electrochemical methods. In these complexes color and quantum yield tuning aspects are demonstrated by modulating the ligands with substituting donor and acceptor groups on both the pyridine and phenyl moieties of 2-phenylpyridine. Complexes 1-5 display intense photoluminescence maxima in the blue region of the visible spectrum and exhibit very high phosphorescence quantum yields, in the range of 50-80%, with excited-state lifetimes of 1-4 micros in acetonitrile solution at 298 K. DFT and time dependent-DFT calculations were performed on the ground and excited states of the investigated complexes to provide insight into the structural, electronic, and optical properties of these systems. 相似文献

Collagen represents one of the most widely used biomaterial for scaffolds fabrication in tissue engineering as it represents the mechanical support of natural tissues. It also provides physical scaffolding for cells and it influences their attachment, growth, and tissue regeneration. Among all fibrillary collagens, type I is considered one of the gold standard for scaffolds fabrication, thanks to its high biocompatibility, biodegradability, and hemostatic properties. It can be extracted by chemical and enzymatic protocols from several collagen‐rich tissues, such as tendon and skin, of different animal species. Both the extraction processes and the manufacturing protocols for scaffolds fabrication provide structural and mechanical changes that can be tuned in order to deeply impact the properties of the final biomaterial. The aim of this review is to discuss the role of X‐rays to study structural changes of type I collagen from fresh collagen‐rich tissues (bovine, equine, fish) to the final scaffolds, with the aim to screen across available collagen sources and scaffolds fabrication protocols to be used in tissue regeneration. 相似文献

Protonation at the formyl oxygen atom of benzaldehydes leading to the formation of carboxonium ions yields two distinct isomers, depending on the relative orientation of the proton either cis or trans with respect to the hydrogen atom on the adjacent carbon. In this context, the IR multiple photon dissociation (IRMPD) spectra of protonated ortho, meta, and para-hydroxybenzaldehydes ( OH−BZH+ ), delivered into the gas phase by electrospray ionization of hydro-alcoholic solutions, are reported in the 3200–3700 cm−1 spectral range. This range is characteristic of O−H stretching modes and thus able to differentiate cis and trans carboxonium isomers. Comparison between IRMPD spectra and DFT calculations at the B3LYP/6-311++G(2df2p) level suggests that for both p- OH−BZH+ and m- OH−BZH+ only cis conformers are present in the ion population analyzed. For o- OH−BZH+ , IRMPD spectroscopy points to a mixture comprising one trans and more than one cis conformers. The energy barrier for cis–trans isomerization calculated for each OH−BZH+ isomer is a measure of the degree of π-electron delocalization. Furthermore, IRMPD spectra of p- OH−BZH+ , m- OH−BZH+ and protonated phenol (this last used as reference) were recorded also in the fingerprint range. Both the observed C−O and O−H stretching vibrations appear to be a measure of π-electron delocalization in the ions. 相似文献

The acid‐catalyzed reaction between formaldehyde and 1H‐indene, 3‐alkyl‐ and 3‐aryl‐1H‐indenes, and six‐membered‐ring substituted 1H‐indenes, with the 1H‐indene/CH2O ratio of 2 : 1, at temperatures above 60° in hydrocarbon solvents, yields 2,2′‐methylenebis[1H‐indenes] 1 – 8 in 50–100% yield. These 2,2′‐methylenebis[1H‐indenes] are easily deprotonated by 2 equiv. of BuLi or MeLi to yield the corresponding dilithium salts, which are efficiently converted into ansa‐metallocenes of Zr and Hf. The unsubstituted dichloro{(1,1′,2,2′,3,3′,3a,3′a,7a,7′a‐η)‐2,2′‐methylenebis[1H‐inden‐1‐yl]}zirconium ([ZrCl2( 1′ )]) is the least soluble in organic solvents. Substitution of the 1H‐indenyl moieties by hydrocarbyl substituents increases the hydrocarbon solubility of the complexes, and the presence of a substituent larger than a Me group at the 1,1′ positions of the ligand imparts a high diastereoselectivity to the metallation step, since only the racemic isomers are obtained. Methylene‐bridged ‘ansa‐zirconocenes’ show a noticeable open arrangement of the bis[1H‐inden‐1‐yl] moiety, as measured by the angle between the planes defined by the two π‐ligands (the ‘bite angle’). In particular, of the ‘zirconocenes’ structurally characterized so far, the dichloro{(1,1′,2,2′,3,3′,3a,3′a,7a,7′a‐η)‐2,2′‐methylenebis[4,7‐dimethyl‐1H‐inden‐1‐yl]}zirconium ([ZrCl2( 5′ )] is the most open. The mixture [ZrCl2( 1′ )]/methylalumoxane (MAO) is inactive in the polymerization of both ethylene and propylene, while the metallocenes with substituted indenyl ligands polymerize propylene to atactic polypropylene of a molecular mass that depends on the size of the alkyl or aryl groups at the 1,1′ positions of the ligand. Ethene is polymerized by rac‐dichloro{(1,1′,2,2′,3,3′,3a,3′a,7a,7′a‐η)‐2,2′‐methylenebis[1‐methyl‐1H‐inden‐1‐yl]}zirconium ([ZrCl2( 2′ )])/MAO to polyethylene waxes (average degree of polymerization ca. 100), which are terminated almost exclusively by ethenyl end groups. Herein we report an efficient synthesis to prepare O-doped nanographenes derived from the π-extension of pyrene. The derivatives are highly fluorescent and feature low oxidation potentials. Using electrooxidation, crystals of cationic mixed-valence (MV) complexes were grown in which the organic salts organize into face-to-face π-stacks, a favorable solid-state arrangement for organic electronics. Variable-temperature electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) measurements and relaxation studies suggest a strong electron delocalization along the longitudinal axis of the columnar π-stacking architectures. Electric measurements of single crystals of the MV salts show a semiconducting behavior with a remarkably high conductivity at room temperature. These findings support the notion that π-extension of heteroatom-doped polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons is an attractive approach to fabricate nanographenes with a broad spectrum of semiconducting properties and high charge mobilities. 相似文献

Knowledge of the structure of active sites is a prerequisite for the rational design of solid catalysts. Using site-selective blocking by CO and isotope labeling combined with in situ attenuated total reflection infrared (ATR-IR) spectroscopy, we were able to discriminate the different sites involved in the liquid-phase oxidation of benzyl alcohol on Pd/Al(2)O(3). The main reaction, that is, the oxidative dehydrogenation of the alcohol to the corresponding aldehyde, showed only little dependence on structure and occurred on all exposed Pd faces, whereas the undesired product decarbonylation occurred preferentially on hollow sites on (111) Pd faces. This explains why specific blocking of the latter sites, as realized in the industrially used Pd-Bi/Al(2)O(3) catalysts, leads to improved catalytic performance. 相似文献

The influence of the spacer arm on the interaction between agarose and a supported ligand was investigated through molecular dynamics for a combination of several spacers. The spacers differ for degree of hydrophobicity, length, and chemical composition, which was varied through insertion of thio, ether, and CH(2) groups. Agarose was modeled through a modified Glycam force field, whose parameters were determined through ab initio calculations. The structural model of agarose used for the calculations was obtained through MD studies of the conformational evolution of several agarose single and double helixes. The simulations showed that a modification of the spacer properties could determine a change of the stable structure of the ligand with respect to the support. In particular, if the spacer is hydrophilic and rigid, the favored structure is with extended spacer and solvated ligand. Either increasing the spacer length, and thus its flexibility, or decreasing its solvation free energy, which corresponds to diminishing its affinity for water, rapidly leads to a conformational change in which the ligand adsorbs on agarose. Interestingly, we found that if the spacer is long and hydrophilic, a third metastable structure, in which the spacer is sandwiched between the ligand and agarose, is possible. Simulations of several ligands adsorbed on neighboring sites on agarose showed that if the support is not held fixed through restraints, the interaction force between vicinal ligands is sufficient to determine a major conformational change of the system. 相似文献
