In this paper, we investigate the asymptotic validity of boundary-layer theory. For a flow induced by a periodic row of point-vortices, we compare Prandtl’s boundary-layer solution to Navier-Stokes solutions with different Reynolds numbers. We show how Prandtl’s solution develops a finite-time separation singularity. On the other hand, the Navier-Stokes solutions are characterized by the presence of two distinct types of viscous-inviscid interactions that can be detected by the analysis of the enstrophy and of the pressure gradient on the wall. Moreover, we apply the complex singularity-tracking method to Prandtl and Navier-Stokes solutions and analyze the previous interactions from a different perspective.  相似文献

Conductivity and transport properties have been determined for gelled polymer electrolytes of three compositions: a base PVdF-polymer gel with organic carbonate solvents as plasticizers and LiN(SO(2)C(2)F(5))(2) electrolyte, a second polymer electrolyte with 5 mass % 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bisperfluoroethylsulfonyl imide (EMI-BETI) added to the base polymer electrolyte, and a third PVdF polymer electrolyte using only EMI-BETI as the plasticizer. Conductivities were studied over the temperature range +25 to -40 degrees C, and for all three gels, the temperature dependence of the conductivities was found to follow the VTF equation, which is consistent with the free volume model for ion transport. For the gel containing 5 mass % EMI-BETI, transport numbers were determined from +50 to -20 degrees C and were found to decrease as the temperature decreased. Although there are no theoretical models to treat and interpret the temperature dependence of transport numbers, we found that a modified VTF equation resulted in an excellent fit to the temperature dependence of the transport number, which is another confirmation of a free volume model for transport in these gelled polymer electrolytes.  相似文献

Using data collected at the psi(3770) resonance with the CLEO-c detector at the Cornell e+e- storage ring, we present improved measurements of the absolute branching fractions of D+decays to K0e+ve, pi0e+ve, K*0e+ve, and p0e+ve, and the first observation and absolute branching fraction measurement of D+ --> omega e+ve. We also report the most precise tests to date of isospin invariance in semileptonic D0 and D+ decays.  相似文献

We extract a relatively precise value for the decay constant of the meson by measuring B(D+ --> mu+nu) = (4.40 +/-0.66(+0.09)(-0.12) x 10(-4) using 281 pb(-1) of data taken on phi(3770) the resonance with the CLEO-c detector. We find fD+ = (222.6 +/- 16.7(+2.8)(-3.4)) MeV, and compare with current theoretical calculations. We also set a 90% confidence upper limit on B(D+e+nu)< 2.4 x 10(-5) which constrains new physics models.  相似文献

We have studied the inclusive photon spectra in Upsilon(2S) and Upsilon(3S) decays using a large statistics data sample obtained with the CLEO III detector. We present the most precise measurements of electric dipole (E1) photon transition rates and photon energies for Upsilon(2S) --> gammachi(bJ)(1P) and Upsilon(3S) --> gammachi(bJ)(2P) (J = 0, 1, 2). We measure the rate for a rare E1 transition Upsilon(3S) --> gammachi(b0)(1P) for the first time. We also set upper limits on the rates for the hindered magnetic dipole (M1) transitions to the eta(b)(1S) and eta(b)(2S) states.  相似文献

Using 13.7 fb(-1) of data recorded by the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we investigate the spectrum of charmed baryons which decay into Lambda+(c)pi(-)pi(+) and are more massive than the Lambda+(c)(2625) baryon. We find evidence for two new states: one is broad and has an invariant mass roughly 480 MeV above that of the Lambda+(c) baryon; the other is narrow with an invariant mass of 596+/-1+/-2 MeV above the Lambda+(c) mass.  相似文献

We have measured the charge asymmetry in like-sign dilepton yields from B(0)B*(0) meson decays using the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. We find a(0)(ll) identical with[N(l(+)l(+))-N(l(-)l(-))]/[N(l(+)l(+))+N(l(-)l(-))] = +0.013+/-0.050+/-0.005. We combine this result with a previous, independent measurement and obtain Re(epsilon(B))/(1+ the absolute value of epsilon(B)(2)) = +0.0035+/-0.0103+/-0.0015 (uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively) for the CP impurity parameter, epsilon(B).  相似文献
