Background

The characterization of three types of Marche (Italy) honeys (Acacia, Multifloral, Honeydew) was carried out on the basis of the their quality parameters (pH, sugar content, humidity) and mineral content (Na, K, Ca, Mg, Cu, Fe, and Mn). Pattern recognition methods such as principal components analysis (PCA) and linear discriminant analysis (LDA) were performed in order to classify honey samples whose botanical origins were different, and identify the most discriminant parameters. Lastly, using ANOVA and correlations for all parameters, significant differences between diverse types of honey were examined.

Results

Most of the samples' water content showed good maturity (98%) whilst pH values were in the range 3.50 – 4.21 confirming the good quality of the honeys analysed. Potassium was quantitatively the most relevant mineral (mean = 643 ppm), accounting for 79% of the total mineral content. The Ca, Na and Mg contents account for 14, 3 and 3% of the total mineral content respectively, while other minerals (Cu, Mn, Fe) were present at very low levels. PCA explained 75% or more of the variance with the first two PC variables. The variables with higher discrimination power according to the multivariate statistical procedure were Mg and pH. On the other hand, all samples of acacia and honeydew, and more than 90% of samples of multifloral type have been correctly classified using the LDA. ANOVA shows significant differences between diverse floral origins for all variables except sugar, moisture and Fe.

Conclusion

In general, the analytical results obtained for the Marche honeys indicate the products' high quality. The determination of physicochemical parameters and mineral content in combination with modern statistical techniques can be a useful tool for honey classification.  相似文献

A two-state Markov noise process for lattice fluctuations and chemical exchange dynamics is used to derive a stochastic Liouville equation describing the evolution of the spin-density operator in nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Relaxation through lattice fluctuations and chemical exchange processes is incorporated into the theory at the same fundamental level, and the results are valid for all time scales provided that lattice fluctuations are much faster than chemical exchange kinetics. Time-scale separation emerges as an essential feature from the lowest-order perturbation expansion of the average resolvent in the Laplace domain.  相似文献

The translational anisotropy and angular momentum polarization of the O(2)(a (1)Delta(g),v = 0;J = 15-27) molecular photofragment produced from the UV photodissociation of O(3) in the range from 270 to 300 nm have been determined using resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization in conjunction with time-of-flight mass spectrometry. At the shortest photolysis wavelengths used, the fragments exhibit the anisotropic vector correlations expected from a prompt dissociation via the (1)B(2) <--(1)A(1) transition. Deviations from this behavior are observed at longer photolysis wavelengths with, in particular, the angular momentum orientation showing a significant reduction in magnitude. This indicates that the dissociation can no longer be described by a purely impulsive model and a change in geometry of the dissociating molecule is implied. This observation is substantiated by the variation of the translational anisotropy with photolysis wavelength. We also observe that the bipolar moments describing the angular momentum polarization of the odd J states probed are consistently lower in magnitude than those of the even J states and that this variation is observed for all photolysis wavelengths.  相似文献

The Au-.CO2 ion-molecule complex has been studied by gas phase infrared photodissociation spectroscopy. Several sharp transitions can be identified as combination bands involving the asymmetric stretch vibrational mode of the CO2 ligand. Their frequencies are redshifted by several hundred cm(-1) from the frequencies of free CO2. We discuss our findings in the framework of ab initio and density-functional theory calculations, using anharmonic corrections to predict vibrational transition energies. The infrared spectrum is consistent with the formation of an aurylcarboxylate anion with a strongly bent CO2 subunit.  相似文献

We analyze a system of two different types of Brownian particles confined in a cubic box with periodic boundary conditions. Particles of different types annihilate when they come into close contact. The annihilation rate is matched by the birth rate, thus the total number of each kind of particles is conserved. When in a stationary state, the system is divided by an interface into two subregions, each occupied by one type of particles. All possible stationary states correspond to the Laplacian eigenfunctions. We show that the system evolves towards those stationary distributions of particles which minimize the Renyi entropy production. In all cases, the Renyi entropy production decreases monotonically during the evolution despite the fact that the topology and geometry of the interface exhibit abrupt and violent changes.  相似文献

A new method has been developed for measuring local adsorption rates of metal ions at interfaces based on scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM). The technique is illustrated with the example of Ag+ binding at Langmuir phospholipid monolayers formed at the water/air interface. Specifically, an inverted 25 microm diameter silver disc ultramicroelectrode (UME) was positioned in the subphase of a Langmuir trough, close to a dipalmitoyl phosphatidic acid (DPPA) monolayer, and used to generate Ag+ via Ag electro-oxidation. The method involved measuring the transient current-time response at the UME when the electrode was switched to a potential to electrogenerate Ag+. Since the Ag+/Ag couple is reversible, the response is highly sensitive to local mass transfer of Ag+ away from the electrode, which, in turn, is governed by the interaction of Ag+ with the monolayer. The methodology has been used to determine the influence of surface pressure on the adsorption of Ag+ ions at a phospholipid (dipalmitoyl phosphatidic acid) Langmuir monolayer. It is shown that the capacity for metal ion adsorption at the monolayer increased as the density of surface adsorption sites increased (by increasing the surface pressure). A model for mass transport and adsorption in this geometry has been developed to explain and characterise the adsorption process.  相似文献

The solvation shell structure and dynamics of a single Cu2+ ion in a periodic box with 32 water molecules under ambient conditions has been investigated using Car-Parrinello molecular dynamics simulations in a time-window of 18 ps. Five-fold coordination with four equidistant equatorial water molecules at 2.00 A and one axial water molecule at 2.45 A from the Cu2+ ion is found. A "hole" without water molecules is found on the opposite side of the axial water. The ion-water bonding character for the equatorial water molecules is different from that of the axial water molecules, as shown by a localized orbital analysis of the electronic structure. Moreover, the calculated OD stretching vibrational band for the equatorial water molecules lies ca. 175 cm-1 below the axial-water band, in good agreement with experimental data. The equatorial-water band lies below, and the axial-water band above, the pure liquid D2O band, also in agreement with experimental data.  相似文献

Apoptosis is defined by a distinct set of morphological changes observed during cell death including loss of focal adhesions, the formation of cell membrane buds or blebs, and a decrease in total cell volume. Recent studies suggest that these dramatic morphological changes, particularly apoptotic volume decrease (AVD), are an early prerequisite to apoptosis and precede key biochemical time-points. Here we use atomic force microscopy to observe early stage AVD of KB cells undergoing staurosporine-induced apoptosis. After a 3-h exposure to 1 microM staurosporine, a 32% decrease in total cell height and a 50% loss of total cell volume is observed accompanied by only a 15% change in cell diameter. The observed AVD precedes key biochemical hallmarks of apoptosis such as loss of mitochondrial membrane potential, phosphatidyl serine translocation, nuclear fragmentation, and measurable caspase-3 activity. This suggests that morphological volume changes occur very early in the induction of apoptosis.  相似文献
