The nanometer sized particles of PbI2 were embedded in SiO2 films. X-ray diffraction and the TEM pictures showed the preservation of the bulk layered structure and symmetry. The PL spectrum of the nano-particles exhibited a pronounced blue shift of the exciton band due to quantum size effect. The Lead Iodide represents an exceptionally small exciton Bohr radius (aB = 19 Å) and a special case in which me mh. The prepared samples contained particles with mean radii, a, in the range aB < a < 3aB. Within this limit (with me mh), the experimental results suggest that the electron is localized nearly at the center of the particle, enabling the hole to move around it. Thus, the size confinement permits the creation of an acceptor-like exciton. The PL spectrum revealed additional states, associated with stoichiometric defects either at the interior or surface sites of the nano-particles. These defects act either as donor or acceptor states. The dynamics of the various recombination processes has been investigated by measuring the time resolved PL spectra. The results show a multiexponential behavior of the various recombination emission bands, indicating the occurrence of trapping and detrapping processes. Analysis of these results suggests that the existence of surface states give rise to these complex radiative decay processes. The correlation between donor-acceptor recombination emission bands in the aforementioned samples and lattice imperfections was examined, utilizing optically detected magnetic resonance (ODMR) spectroscopy. The results identified the following imperfection sites: an acceptor site associated with an isotropic Lead vacancy defect, [V]pb2+ and a donor site, associated with an anisotropic Iodine vacancy, [V0]Iodine.  相似文献

Productivity growth of institutions of higher education is of interest for two main reasons: education is an important factor for productivity growth of the economy, and in countries where higher education is funded by the public sector, accountability of resource use is of key interest. Educational services consist of teaching, research and the “third mission” of dissemination of knowledge to the society at large. A bootstrapped Malmquist productivity change index is used to calculate productivity development for Norwegian institutions of higher education over the 10-year period 2004–2013. The confidence intervals from bootstrapping allow part of the uncertainty of point estimates stemming from sample variation to be revealed. The main result is that the majority of institutions have had a positive productivity growth over the total period. However, when comparing with growth in labour input, the impact on productivity varies a lot.  相似文献

We consider a two‐dimensional inviscid irrotational flow in a two layer fluid under the effects of gravity and interfacial tension. The upper fluid is bounded above by a rigid lid, and the lower fluid is bounded below by a rigid bottom. We use a spatial dynamics approach and formulate the steady Euler equations as a Hamiltonian system, where we consider the unbounded horizontal coordinate x as a time‐like coordinate. The linearization of the Hamiltonian system is studied, and bifurcation curves in the (β,α)‐plane are obtained, where α and β are two parameters. The curves depend on two additional parameters ρ and h, where ρ is the ratio of the densities and h is the ratio of the fluid depths. However, the bifurcation diagram is found to be qualitatively the same as for surface waves. In particular, we find that a Hamiltonian‐Hopf bifurcation, Hamiltonian real 1:1 resonance, and a Hamiltonian 02‐resonance occur for certain values of (β,α). Of particular interest are solitary wave solutions of the Euler equations. Such solutions correspond to homoclinic solutions of the Hamiltonian system. We investigate the parameter regimes where the Hamiltonian‐Hopf bifurcation and the Hamiltonian real 1:1 resonance occur. In both these cases, we perform a center manifold reduction of the Hamiltonian system and show that homoclinic solutions of the reduced system exist. In contrast to the case of surface waves, we find parameter values ρ and h for which the leading order nonlinear term in the reduced system vanishes. We make a detailed analysis of this phenomenon in the case of the real 1:1 resonance. We also briefly consider the Hamiltonian 02‐resonance and recover the results found by Kirrmann. We report the creation of permanent 3D configurations of cells, at predefined positions, within a gelatin matrix. The technique used holographic optical tweezers to manipulate individual E. coli within a solution comprising monomer precursors. The matrix was then set and after the laser beam was removed, we were able to demonstrate that the structures remained intact for many days. We were also able to demonstrate that, in the presence of appropriate nutrients, the E. coli survived within the gelatin matrix for several days. The technique could have a number of potential future applications, including the arrangement of a variety of different cell types in complex architectures, as motifs for promoting tissue differentiation and growth within the field of cell engineering.  相似文献

This paper considers the problem of designing districts for vehicle routing problems with stochastic demands. In particular, demands are assumed to be uncertain at the time when the districts are made, and these are revealed only after the districting decisions are determined. Tabu search and multistart heuristics for this stochastic districting problem are developed and compared. Computational results show that tabu search is superior over multistart.  相似文献

A theory of spectral representations and spectral density operators of infinite-dimensional homogeneous random fields is established. Some results concerning the form of the spectral representation are given in the general infinite-dimensional case, while the results pertaining to the density operator are confined to Hilbert space valued fields. The concept of a purely non-deterministic (p.n.d.) field is defined, and necessary and sufficient conditions for the property of p.n.d. are obtained in terms of the spectral density operator. The theory is developed using some isomorphisms induced by families of self-adjoint operators in the linear second order space associated with the field. The method seems to lead to more direct results also in the random process case, and it sheds new light on concepts such as multiplicity of the field and rank of the spectral density operator.  相似文献

Motivated by problems occurring in the empirical identification and modelling of a n-dimensional ARMA time series X(t) we study the possibility of obtaining a factorization (I + a1B + … + apBp) X(t) = [Πi=1p (I ? αiB)] X(t), where B is the backward shift operator. Using a result in [3] we conclude that as in the univariate case such a factorization always exists, but unlike the univariate case in general the factorization is not unique for given a1, a2,…, ap. In fact the number of possibilities is limited upwards by (np)!(n!)p, there being cases, however, where this maximum is not reached. Implications for the existence and possible use of transformations which removes nonstationarity (or almost nonstationarity) of X(t) are mentioned.  相似文献
