One describes, using a detailed analysis of Atiyah-Hirzebruch spectral sequence, the tuples of cohomology classes on a compact, complex manifold, corresponding to the Chern classes of a complex vector bundle of stable rank. This classification becomes more effective on generalized flag manifolds, where the Lie algebra formalism and concrete integrability conditions describe in constructive terms the Chern classes of a vector bundle. Under some natural assumptions on the evolution family ${\mathcal{U} = \{U(t, s): t \geq s\}}$ generated by the family {A(t)}, we prove that if for each?μ, each s?≥ 0 and every x the solution u μ, x, s (·, 0) is bounded on R + by a positive constant, depending only on x, then the family ${\mathcal{U}}$ is uniformly exponentially stable. We examine the regularity of weak solutions of quasi-geostrophic (QG) type equations with supercritical (α<1/2α<1/2) dissipation α(−Δ)(Δ)α. This study is motivated by a recent work of Caffarelli and Vasseur, in which they study the global regularity issue for the critical (α=1/2α=1/2) QG equation [L. Caffarelli, A. Vasseur, Drift diffusion equations with fractional diffusion and the quasi-geostrophic equation, arXiv: math.AP/0608447, 2006]. Their approach successively increases the regularity levels of Leray–Hopf weak solutions: from L2L2 to LL, from LL to Hölder (CδCδ, δ>0δ>0), and from Hölder to classical solutions. In the supercritical case, Leray–Hopf weak solutions can still be shown to be LL, but it does not appear that their approach can be easily extended to establish the Hölder continuity of LL solutions. In order for their approach to work, we require the velocity to be in the Hölder space C1−2αC12α. Higher regularity starting from CδCδ with δ>1−2αδ>12α can be established through Besov space techniques and will be presented elsewhere [P. Constantin, J. The velocity field corresponding to the Rayleigh–Stokes problem for an edge, in an incompressible generalized Oldroyd-B fluid has been established by means of the double Fourier sine and Laplace transforms. The fractional calculus approach is used in the constitutive relationship of the fluid model. The obtained solution, written in terms of the generalized G-functions, is presented as a sum of the Newtonian solution and the corresponding non-Newtonian contribution. The solution for generalized Maxwell fluids, as well as those for ordinary Maxwell and Oldroyd-B fluids, performing the same motion, is obtained as a limiting case of the present solution. This solution can be also specialized to give the similar solution for generalized second grade fluids. However, for simplicity, a new and simpler exact solution is established for these fluids. For β → 1, this last solution reduces to a previous solution obtained by a different technique.  相似文献

A method is presented to construct interpolation functions intothe 2 x 2 open spectral unit ball. For the spectral Nevanlinna–Pickproblem, these functions are in some sense extremal, and theset of all these interpolation functions is enough to solveany interpolation problem, with solvable finite interpolationdata. The unsteady flow of a viscoelastic fluid with the fractional Maxwell model, induced by a constantly accelerating plate between two side walls perpendicular to the plate, is investigated by means of the integral transforms. Exact solutions for the velocity field are presented under integral and series forms in terms of the derivatives of generalized Mittag–Leffler functions. The corresponding solutions for Maxwell fluids are obtained as limiting cases for β → 1. In the absence of the side walls, all solutions that have been determined reduce to those corresponding to the motion over an infinite plate.   相似文献

The continuous growth of hospital costs has driven governments in many countries to seek ways to improve their efficiency. In Greece, this has consistently been a major issue for almost two decades, as efficiency assessment and monitoring systems are lacking. In response to this need, the evaluation of the National Health System hospitals’ efficiency level is a precondition for planning, implementing and monitoring any promising reform. In this paper, a non-parametric modeling approach is employed to assess and analyze the efficiency of 87 Greek public hospitals over the period 2005–2009, using data envelopment analysis. The operational and economic aspects of the hospitals’ operation are considered on the basis of their service/case mix and cost structure. We also investigate the efficiency trends over time with the Malmquist index and a second stage regression analysis is performed to explain the operational and economic efficiency results in terms of the hospitals’ operating characteristics and the environment in which they operate.  相似文献

We prove that the growth bound of the family \(\mathcal {U}\) is less than or equal to \(-\frac{1}{c(\mathcal {U}, \mathcal {X})}\) provided that the convolution operator \(f\mapsto \mathcal {U}*f\) acts on \(\mathcal {X}.\) It is well known that under the latter assumption, the convolution operator is bounded and then \(c(\mathcal {U}, \mathcal {X})\) denotes (ad-hoc) its norm in \(\mathcal {L}(\mathcal {X}).\) As a consequence, we prove that if \(\sup \nolimits _{s\ge 0}\int \nolimits _{s}^\infty \Vert U(t,s)\Vert dt=u_1(\mathcal {U})<\infty ,\) then \(\omega _0(\mathcal {U})u_1(\mathcal {U})\le -1.\) Finally, we give an example showing that the accuracy of the estimates may be quite accurate.  相似文献
