In this paper, we completely study the wavelength dependency of differential group delay (DGD) and polarization dependent loss (PDL) for Bragg gratings written in birefringent fibers. Based on the coupled mode theory, we present analytical expressions for the evolution with wavelength of the transmission coefficient, the DGD and the PDL. The wavelength dependencies of these evolutions on the birefringence are then discussed. Experimental results are finally presented for an apodized FBG written in a bow-tie fiber. A very good agreement between theory and experience is reported, confirming the validity of the theoretical analysis. 相似文献

In this paper, an atmospheric pressure plasma jet sustained in pure argon and an argon/water vapour mixture has been used to modify the surface of polypropylene (PP) films. The gas temperature of the plasma jet was found to be 625 K in an active zone between the electrodes and was found to increase in the afterglow. Based on these results, the PP films are placed as close as possible to the edge of the capillary in order to avoid thermal damage to the polymer. XPS results on the untreated and modified PP samples revealed incorporation of a significant amount of oxygen on the polymer surface, however, this oxygen inclusion is more pronounced for the argon/water vapour jet due to the higher radicals density in the jet afterglow. One can therefore conclude that adding water vapour to an argon plasma jet can be a convenient way to increase the efficiency of plasma surface modification. 相似文献

Light and flexible rotating parts of modern turbine engines operating at supercritical speeds necessitate application of more accurate but rather computationally expensive 3D FE modeling techniques. Stacked disks misalignment due to manufacturing variability in the geometry of individual components constitutes a particularly important aspect to be included in the analysis because of its impact on system dynamics. A new parametric model order reduction algorithm is presented to achieve this goal at affordable computational costs. It is shown that the disks misalignment leads to significant changes in nominal system properties that manifest themselves as additional blocks coupling neighboring spatial harmonics in Fourier space. Consequently, the misalignment effects can no longer be accurately modeled as equivalent forces applied to a nominal unperturbed system. The fact that the mode shapes become heavily distorted by extra harmonic content renders the nominal modal projection-based methods inaccurate and thus numerically ineffective in the context of repeated analysis of multiple misalignment realizations. The significant numerical bottleneck is removed by employing an orthogonal projection onto the subspace spanned by first few Fourier harmonic basis vectors. The projected highly sparse systems are shown to accurately approximate the specific misalignment effects, to be inexpensive to solve using direct sparse methods and easy to parameterize with a small set of measurable eccentricity and tilt angle parameters. Selected numerical examples on an industrial scale model are presented to illustrate the accuracy and efficiency of the algorithm implementation. 相似文献

This study aims to explore the perceptual relevance of the variations of glottal flow parameters and to what extent a small variation can be detected. Just Noticeable Differences (JNDs) have been measured for three values of open quotient (0.4, 0.6, and 0.8) and two values of asymmetry coefficient (2/3 and 0.8), and the effect of changes of vowel, pitch, vibrato, and amplitude parameters has been tested. Two main groups of subjects have been analyzed: a group of 20 untrained subjects and a group of 10 trained subjects. The results show that the JND for open quotient is highly dependent on the target value: an increase of the JND is noticed when the open quotient target value is increased. The relative JND is constant: ΔOq/Oq = 14% for the untrained and 10% for the trained. In the same way, the JND for asymmetry coefficient is also slightly dependent on the target value–an increase of the asymmetry coefficient value leads to a decrease of the JND. The results show that there is no effect from the selected vowel or frequency (two values have been tested), but that the addition of a vibrato has a small effect on the JND of open quotient. The choice of an amplitude parameter also has a great effect on the JND of open quotient. 相似文献

We demonstrate experimentally a novel technique for characterizing transverse spatial coherence by using the Wigner distribution function. The method is based on the measurement of interference between a pair of rotated and displaced replicas of the input beam with an area-integrating detector, and it provides an optimal signal-to-noise ratio in regimes when array detectors are not available. We analyze the quantum-optical picture of the presented measurement for single-photon signals and discuss possible applications in quantum information processing. 相似文献

A new self-referencing technique to characterize the temporal electric field of a short optical pulse is presented. The group delay of the pulse is directly obtained from two projections of the Wigner-Ville function after rotation of the pulse in chronocyclic space. Implementation of the technique requires only quadratic temporal phase modulation and two spectrum measurements, from which the electric field is directly and unambiguously reconstructed without any assumption. A device based on these principles is used to characterize the electric field of a 2-ps optical pulse. 相似文献

A novel method for direct laser writing of two-dimensional cadmium sulfide (CdS) semiconductor nanoparticle microstructures

used to decompose CdS precursors dispersed in a zirconia thin film previously dip-coated on a glass substrate. The kinetics
of nanoparticle formation as a function of laser power were monitored in situ by photoluminescence spectroscopy. Raman spectroscopy
was also performed to characterize the structural changes of the zirconia matrix under irradiation and to verify the formation
of CdS nanoparticles. Results show that CdS nanoparticles were formed by two-photon absorption (TPA) with or without the help

A simple and efficient time-dependent method is presented for solving the steady compressible Euler and Navier–Stokes equations with third-order accuracy. Owing to its residual-based structure, the numerical scheme is compact without requiring any linear algebra, and it uses a simple numerical dissipation built on the residual. The method contains no tuning parameter. Accuracy and efficiency are demonstrated for 2-D inviscid and viscous model problems. The detection system is a key part of any imaging station. Here the performance of the novel sCMOS‐based detection system installed at the ID17 biomedical beamline of the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility and dedicated to high‐resolution computed‐tomography imaging is analysed. The system consists of an X‐ray–visible‐light converter, a visible‐light optics and a PCO.Edge5.5 sCMOS detector. Measurements of the optical characteristics, the linearity of the system, the detection lag, the modulation transfer function, the normalized power spectrum, the detective quantum efficiency and the photon transfer curve are presented and discussed. The study was carried out at two different X‐ray energies (35 and 50 keV) using both 2× and 1× optical magnification systems. The final pixel size resulted in 3.1 and 6.2 µm, respectively. The measured characteristic parameters of the PCO.Edge5.5 are in good agreement with the manufacturer specifications. Fast imaging can be achieved using this detection system, but at the price of unavoidable losses in terms of image quality. The way in which the X‐ray beam inhomogeneity limited some of the performances of the system is also discussed. 相似文献
