Electrochemical study on the keto-enol tautomerization of p-hydroxyphenylpyruvic acid in aqueous solution

The keto-enol tautomerization of p-hydroxyphenylpyruvic acid (pHPP) in aqueous solutions and the complexation reaction between enolic pHPP and boric acid have been studied by electrochemical techniques including linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), pulse voltammetry, and cyclic voltammetry (CV), combining with UV spectrometry. Electrochemical techniques reveal that in aqueous solution, there are two tautomers of pHPP: enolic form and ketonic form; the former exists mainly in freshly prepared pHPP solution, and the latter exists mainly in equilibrium solution. Both enolic and ketonic pHPP are electroactive. The electrochemical oxidation of enolic pHPP gives rise to two anodic waves, I(a) and II(a), while the electrochemical oxidation of ketonic pHPP only results in the observation of the second wave II(a). The oxidation process I(a) is revealed to be associated with the quasi-reversible, two-electron two-proton oxidation of "C=C"group at the side chain of enolic pHPP, and the oxidation process II(a) is proposed to result from the irreversible oxidation of phenolic hydroxyl group. It is observed that in aqueous solution, enolic pHPP can quickly complex with boric acid to yield enol-borate complex that can also oxidize at a glassy carbon electrode to yield an anodic wave.

Determination of proteins at nanogram levels by a resonance light-scattering technique with tetra-substituted sulphonated aluminum phthalocyanine

This is the first report on the determination of proteins with tetra-substituted sulphonated aluminum phthalocyanine (AlS₄Pc) by resonance light-scattering (RLS). At pH 3.0, the weak RLS of AlS₄Pc can be enhanced by the addition of proteins. Based on this, a novel quantitative method has been developed for the determination of proteins in aqueous solutions. Under optimal conditions, the linear ranges of the calibration curves were 0.050–2.0 μg ml⁻¹ for both human serum albumin (HSA) and human r-IgG. The detection limits were 12.7 ng ml⁻¹ for HSA and 16.1 ng ml⁻¹ for human r-IgG. The method has been applied to the analysis of total protein in human serum samples collected from the hospital and the results were in good agreement with those reported by the hospital, which indicates that the method presented here is not only sensitive, simple, but also reliable and suitable for practical applications.

于固－液相转移催化条件下，合成了１０个１－芳氧基乙酰基－４－邻氯苯甲酰基氨基硫脲衍生物，用元素分析、ＩＲ和￣１Ｈ－ＮＭＲ光谱确定了它们的结构。该类化合物对小麦幼苗生长具有明显的促进作用。     

Synthesis,crystal structure and reaction of differentially ring-substituted titanocene dichlorides

Summary A new class of differentially ring-substituted titanocene dichlorides of the type CpCpTiCl₂ has been prepared by reacting CpM (M=Li, K; Cp=RC₅H₄) with CpTiCl₃ (Cp=MeOCH₂CH₂C₅H₄). The crystal structure of Cp(PhCEt₂C₅H₄)TiCl₂, the first example, has been determined by x-ray diffraction and refined to a final R factor of 0.0532 for 2304 reflections. The crystal belongs to the monoclinic space group C _2h ⁵ –P2₁/c with unit cell parameters:a 10.205(6),b 13.003(5),c 17.591(9) Å, 101.91(4)°, V=2284 ų, Z=4 and Dc=1.32 g/cm^–3. Replacement of one neomenthyl in bis(neomenthyl-cyclopentadienyl)titanium dichloride by one MeOCH₂CH₂ — raises the e.e. value from 5.8% to 11.2% in the catalytic asymmetric hydrogenation of 2-phenyl-1-butene.

Binding of wogonin to human serum albumin: a common binding site of wogonin in subdomain IIA

The binding of wogonin to human serum albumin (HSA) has been studied by spectroscopic method including circular dichroism (CD), infrared spectra (IR) and fluorescence spectra. The fluorescence properties of HSA were examined in presence of wogonin and the fluorescence intensity of HSA was significantly decreased in the presence of wogonin. The binding parameters of wogonin were studied from the fluorescence decreasing of HSA by the fluoremetric titrations. The Stern-Volmer plots indicated that the binding of wogonin to HSA at 296, 303, 310 K is characterized by one binding site with the binding constant K(S-V) at 1.872 x 10(5), 1.561 x 10(5), 1.392 x 10(5), respectively, which are good agreement with the results from the Scatchard plots. The binding process was exothermic, enthalpy driven and spontaneous, as indicated by the thermodynamic analyses, and the major part of the binding energy is hydrophobic interaction, which were consistent with the result of molecule modelling study, and there are also a numbers of hydrogen bonds between wogonin and HSA. Furthermore, the displacement experiments indicate that wogonin can bind to the subdomain IIA, that is, the site I of HSA, which is also good agreement with the result of molecule modelling study.     

Traceless solid-phase synthesis of nitrogen-containing heterocycles and their biological evaluations as inhibitors of neuronal sodium channels

The preparation of pyrimidine-2-thione, pyrimidine-2-one, pyrimidine, and benzo[b][1,4]diazepine derivatives using traceless solid-phase sulfone linker strategy is described. Key steps involved are (i) sulfinate S-alkylation, (ii) sulfone anion alkylation with an epoxide, (iii) gamma-hydroxyl sulfone --> gamma-ketosulfone oxidation, and (iv) traceless product release by a one-pot elimination-cyclization process. Elimination-cyclization was carried out under basic conditions with thiourea, methyl thiourea, methyl urea, guanidine hydrochloride, benzamidine hydrochloride and ortho-phenylene diamine. Twenty-three compounds were prepared, and 14 of them were evaluated by the Batrachotoxin (BTX) radioligand binding assay for their binding affinity to neuronal sodium channels. Compound 7c was found to be a potential neuronal sodium channels blocker.     

Surface modification studies of edge-oriented molybdenum sulfide nanosheets

We have synthesized edge-oriented MoS2 nanosheets by the evaporation of a single source precursor based on Mo(IV)-tetrakis(diethylaminodithiocarbomato). The surface chemistry of the MoS2 nanosheets has been studied in order to evaluate the chemical reactivities of the basal planes and edges. By irradiating the MoS2 nanosheet with a scanning infrared laser, micron-scale lithographical structures can be created due to laser-induced oxidation of MoS2 to form nanocrystalline MoO3. Preferential reactivities of the MoS2 basal edges in an electrochemical environment and during vapor phase deposition have been demonstrated. Functionalization of the basal plane with 1-pyrene acetic acid allows the immobilization of DNA and immunoglobins on the MoS2 basal plane.     

Structure and Magnetic Properties of a Novel Two‐Dimensional Complex from 1, 3, 5‐Benzenetricarboxylate and Neodymium(III) — {[Nd(1, 3, 5‐benzenetricarboxylate)(H2O)4] · H2O}n

A unique neodymium(III) complex, {[Nd(BTC)(H₂O)₄] · H₂O}_n (BTC = 1, 3, 5‐benzenetricarboxylate), was obtained from the reaction between Nd(ClO₄)₃ · xH₂O and Na₃BTC. Coordination bonds, hydrogen bonds, and π‐π stacking form a supramolecular structure with a novel, two‐dimensional framework. The temperature‐dependent magnetic susceptibilities were analyzed by the Curie‐Weiss law; the following values were found C = 1.32, θ = —18.3 K, respectively.
