Activation of elemental sulfur by the monovalent nickel complex [PhTt (tBu)]Ni(CO) [PhTt(tBu)=phenyl{tris[(tert-butylmethyl)thio]methyl}borate] generates the disulfidodinickel(II) complex 2. This species is alternatively accessible via thermal decomposition of [PhTt (tBu)]Ni(SCPh3). Spectroscopic, magnetic, and X-ray diffraction studies establish that 2 contains a mu-eta(2):eta(2)-S2 ligand that fosters antiferromagnetic exchange coupling between the Ni (II) ions. This observation is in contrast to the lighter congener, oxygen, which strongly favors the bis(mu-oxo)dinickel(III) structure. 2 oxidizes PPh 3 to SPPh3 and reacts with O2, generating several products, one of which has been identified as [(PhTt (tBu))Ni]2(mu-S) (3).  相似文献

The formation of variable-thickness CeO2 nanoparticle mesoporous films from a colloidal nanoparticle solution (approximately 1–3-nm-diameter CeO2) is demonstrated using a layer-by-layer deposition process with small organic binder molecules such as cyclohexanehexacarboxylate and phytate. Film growth is characterised by scanning and transmission electron microscopies, X-ray scattering and quartz crystal microbalance techniques. The surface electrochemistry of CeO2 films before and after calcination at 500 °C in air is investigated. A well-defined Ce(IV/III) redox process confined to the oxide surface is observed. Beyond a threshold potential, a new phosphate phase, presumably CePO4, is formed during electrochemical reduction of CeO2 in aqueous phosphate buffer solution. The voltammetric signal is sensitive to (1) thermal pre-treatment, (2) film thickness, (3) phosphate concentration and (4) pH. The reversible ‘underpotential reduction’ of CeO2 is demonstrated at potentials positive of the threshold. A transition occurs from the reversible ‘underpotential region’ in which no phosphate phase is formed to the irreversible ‘overpotential region’ in which the formation of the cerium(III) phosphate phase is observed. The experimental results are rationalised based on surface reactivity and nucleation effects.  相似文献

The synthesis and structural characterization of lanthanum(III) and uranyl(VI) complexes coordinated by tridentate diglycolamide (DGA) ligands O(CH2C(O)NR2)2[R=i-Pr (L1), i-Bu (L2)] are described. Reaction of L with UO2Cl2(H2O) n forms the uranyl(VI) cis-dichloride adducts UO2Cl2L [L=L1 (1a), L2 (1b)], while reaction of excess L with the corresponding metal nitrate hydrate produces [LaL3][La(NO3)6] [L=L1 (2a), L2 (2b)] for lanthanum and UO2(NO3)2L [L=L1 (3a), L2 (3b)] for uranium. Compounds 2b and 3a have been structurally characterized. The solid-state structure of the cation of 2b shows a triple-stranded helical arrangement of three tridentate DGA ligands with approximate D3 point-group symmetry, while the counteranion consists of six bidentate nitrate ligands coordinated around a second La center. The solid-state structure of 3a shows a tridentate DGA ligand coordinated along the equatorial plane perpendicular to the OUO unit as well as two nitrate ligands, one bidentate and oriented in the equatorial plane and the other monodentate and oriented parallel to the uranyl unit with the oxygen donor atom situated above the mean equatorial plane. Ambient-temperature NMR spectra for 3a and 3b indicated an averaged chemical environment of high symmetry consistent with fluxional nitrate hapticity, while spectroscopic data obtained at -30 degrees C revealed lower symmetry consistent with the slow-exchange limit for this process.  相似文献

The development of chiral ligands to direct the course and stereoselectivity of many catalytic asymmetric reactions is an important area of interest for many research groups. As part of a program examining the chemistry of 2,1-benzothiazines, we have prepared a new chiral benzothiazine ligand. This ligand can be made in as few as three steps from commercially available starting materials. Presented herein is the synthesis of the ligand along with the synthesis of a chiral molecular receptor that potentially presages a new class of chiral molecular tweezers.  相似文献

Temperature coefficients (Deltadelta/DeltaT) of amide chemical shifts of N-acetylglucosamine residues have been measured in a range of oligosaccharides of the important vertebrate polysaccharide hyaluronan. Odd- and even-numbered oligosaccharides with glucuronic acid, Delta-4,5-unsaturated glucuronic acid and N-acetylglucosamine at the termini were investigated. All amide proton temperature coefficients were only slightly less negative (-6.9 to - 9.1 ppb/ degrees C) than those of amide protons in free exchange with water (approximately equal to -11 ppb/ degrees C), indicating an absence of persistent intramolecular hydrogen bonds. With the exception of amide groups in reducing-terminal N-acetylglucosamine rings, all amide proton environments have the same temperature coefficient (-6.9 ppb/ degrees C), irrespective of differences in amide group chemical shifts and (3)J(HH) coupling constants, i.e. they do not sense subtle differences in orientation of the amide group. Amide nitrogen temperature coefficients report the same phenomena but with greater sensitivity. These data provide a set of reference values for temperature coefficients measured in other carbohydrates with acetamido sugars.  相似文献

This paper is the first in a series describing the in situ surface characterization of platinum electrodes using H and Cu deposited at underpotentials. The surface of a Pt(100) electrode pretreated by simple flame annealing and quenching in aqueous sulfuric acid is shown to contain a high concentration of defects such as vacancies and self-adsorbed Pt atoms. Adsorbed hydrogen is more strongly bound at these defects than on a uniform Pt(100) surface. Potential cycling in 1 M HCl produces a higher concentration of defects, while oxide formation and reduction in 0.5 M H2SO4 has the opposite effect. The nature of (100)-like sites at a polycrystalline platinum electrode is also discussed.  相似文献

The secondary decomposition of fragment ions produced by electron impact of carbinolamine ethers was studied by mass analysed ion kinetic energy spectrometry. A new case was observed of ions of the same structure leading to the same fragments through different mechanisms competing in the metastable time frame and accompanied by a different partitioning of the excess energy (internal vs translational). The role of a fractional positive charge localized at saturated centres in the reactivity of these gaseous organic ions is discussed.  相似文献

The equilibrium structure of the finite, interphase interfacial region that exists between a liquid film and a bulk vapor is resolved by molecular dynamics simulation. Argon systems are considered for a temperature range that extends below the melting point. Physically consistent procedures are developed to define the boundaries between the interphase and the liquid and vapor phases. The procedures involve counting of neighboring molecules and comparing the results with boundary criteria that permit the boundaries to be precisely established. Two-dimensional radial distribution functions at the liquid and vapor boundaries and within the interphase region demonstrate the physical consistency of the boundary criteria and the state of transition within the region. The method developed for interphase boundary definitions can be extended to nonequilibrium systems. Spatial profiles of macroscopic properties across the interphase region are presented. A number of interfacial thermodynamic properties and profile curve-fit parameters are tabulated, including evaporation/condensation coefficients determined from molecular flux statistics. The evaporation/condensation coefficients away from the melting point compare more favorably with transition state theory than those of previous simulations. Near the melting point, transition theory approximations are less valid and the present results differ from the theory. The effects of film substrate wetting on evaporation/condensation coefficients are also presented.  相似文献

In our previous research, multifunctional carboxylic acids have been used as flame retardants to reduce the flammability of cotton fleece so that the garment made of cotton fleece can pass the US mandatory requirement specified by the government regulation “Standard for the Flammability of Clothing Textiles” (16 CFR 1610). In this research, we studied and compared the effectiveness of the polycarboxylic acids having different numbers of carboxylic groups as the durable flame retardants for cotton fleece. The cotton fabrics were treated with 1,2,3,4-butanetetracarboxylic acid (BTCA), citric acid (CA), succinic acid (SUA) and malic acid (MLA). We compared the reactivity of those polycarboxylic acids to esterify cotton cellulose and their effectiveness to reduce the flammability of the cotton fleece. The data indicated that the polycarboxylic acids with higher functionalities (BTCA and CA) form more esterlinkages on cotton and are more durable to home launderings than that treated with their bifunctional counter parts (SUA and MLA, respectively). In addition, the cotton fabrics treated with BTCA and CA have higher dimensional stability and higher strength loss. All those differences can be attributed to the fact that only those acids with three or more carboxylic groups, i.e., BTCA and CA, are able to crosslink cotton cellulose whereas the bifunctional acids (SUA and MLA) only form single esterlinkage with cotton.  相似文献
