The total phenolic content, antioxidant and antifungal activities of three Inula crithmoides extracts (n-hexane, methylene chloride and MeOH) were investigated. The methanolic extract showed the highest total phenolic content. In the DPPH assay, the methanolic and hexane extracts exhibited the highest DPPH-radical scavenging activity; in the 5-lipoxygenase assay, the hexane extract showed greater inhibitory effect with an IC50 similar to that of Trolox and ascorbic acid. The antifungal activity of the methanolic extract revealed a higher activity against Phytophtora cryptogea and Alternaria solani. 相似文献

The move from additive to multiplicative thinking requires significant change in children’s comprehension and manipulation of numerical relationships, involves various conceptual components, and can be a slow, multistage process for some. Unit arrays are a key visuospatial representation for supporting learning, but most research focuses on 2D (rectangular) arrays, and when focusing on 3D (cuboid) arrays still frequently uses 2D representations. This article documents low-attaining children’s partially developed multiplicative thinking as they work on concretely presented 3D array tasks; it also presents a framework for microanalysis of learners’ early multiplicative thinking in array tasks. Data derives from a small but cognitively diverse set of participants, all arithmetically low-attaining and relying heavily on counting: this enabled detailed analysis of small but significant differences in their arithmetical engagement with arrays. The analytical framework combines and builds on previous structural and enumerative categorizations, and may be used with a variety of array representations. 相似文献

This study is focused on a statewide implementation of the core conceptual framework for effective professional development in the United States. and associated impact on teacher quality and attitudes. The framework included content focus, active learning, coherence, duration, and collective participation. There were 252 participants in the study, who were involved in one of the five science or six mathematics programs. Findings indicated a significant impact on teacher quality for all participating programs. Teacher attitudes were positive at the baseline, and remained positive with some improvement at the end of the program. However, teacher perceived preparedness increased significantly across the duration of the program. Discussion of the findings and implications for professional development programs internationally are shared. 相似文献

We study the contributions of within‐host (virus‐to‐cell) and synaptic (cell‐to‐cell) transmissions in a mathematical model for human immunodeficiency virus epidemics. The model also includes drug resistance. We prove the local and global stability of the disease‐free equilibrium and the local stability of the endemic equilibrium. We analyse the effect of the cell‐to‐cell transmission rate on the value of the reproduction number, R0. Moreover, we show evidence of a qualitative change in the models' dynamics, subjected to the value of the drug efficacy. In the end, important inferences are drawn. Providing teachers effective professional development (PD) is an ongoing challenge in the field of education. Emergence of technological innovations in the form of computer‐based asynchronous and synchronous communication has provided new opportunities to improve and expand teacher PD opportunities beyond the physical walls of a school. The purpose of this meta‐analysis is to examine the ability of online learning environments to facilitate the critical features of teacher PD identified in Desimone (2009) as content focus, active learning, coherence, duration, and collective participation. Analysis of the 20 empirical studies sought to reveal the purpose of the study, methodologies utilized, and major findings. Multiple studies indicated the ability of an online environment to engage teachers in active learning, collective participation, and content‐focused learning activities. Additionally, the results of this meta‐analysis revealed a lack of empirical studies that have examined the ability of online teacher PD to support the critical features of coherence and duration. Findings of this research have implications for a future research agenda and policy considerations related to online teacher PD initiatives. 相似文献

The aggregation properties of a new sultaine surfactant have been studied in buffered aqueous solution at pH 7.4 under controlled condition of osmolarity. Spontaneously formed sultaine vesicles with a mean diameter of about 1 μm can be observed by optical microscopy. The phase behaviour of the surfactant has been investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Nile Red fluorescence. Two critical vesicular concentrations (CVC(1) and CVC(2)) have been fluorimetrically measured, by using pyrene and Nile Red as the fluorescent probes. The two populations of vesicles behave differently as a consequence of their size. The stability of extruded large unilamellar vesicles (LUV) formed slightly above the CVC(1) has been evaluated in the temperature range 25-75°C by following the rate of spontaneous release of entrapped 5(6)-carboxyfluorescein (CF). The stability of the same vesicles at 70°C has also been investigated under osmotic stress obtained by adding NaCl or sucrose to the bulk solution. At a sultaine concentration above the CVC(2) LUV tend to associate and form stable larger closely packed aggregates as suggested by Dynamic Laser Light Scattering and rheological measurements. 相似文献

A series of hydantoins and thiohydantoins have been synthesized in water at room temperature from urea (or N-methylurea, or thiourea) and simple aldehydes (as glyoxal, and its simple derivatives) in the presence of phosphoric anhydride. The reaction time is 10 min using an equimolar amount of P4O10 with respect to the other reagents, but the reaction occurs also, even if with longer reaction times, with very small amounts of P4O10.In addition, this method provides a clean and ‘green’ approach to hydantoins, compounds of great interest in biological and pharmacological fields. 相似文献
