Mixed-metal ethylenediaminetetraacetates of neodymium and alkaline earths

Conclusions In solution, the complexes M^II(NdA)₂ do not have a polynuclear structure. In the conditions studied, hydroxo polynuclear complexes including EDTA and M^II and Nd³⁺ ions are also not formed. Our results are not inconsistent with the hypothesis that the solid complex Ca(NdA)₂·17H₂O has a polynuclear structure and that the polynuclear character is successively weakened as Ca²⁺ is replaced by Sr²⁺ and Ba²⁺.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Seriya Khimicheskaya, No. 6, pp. 1235–1239, June, 1977.     

Acrylonitr1le anion-radical detection by infrared internal reflection spectra

The application of internal reflection spectroscopy to the study of interface boundary layers has been extended over cases in which unstable particles appear at the interface as a result of imposing a negative electrical potential on the germanium hemicylinder, used simultaneously as an optical prism in the internal reflection spectroscopic device and as an electrode. The appearance of the particles is detected by their internal reflection spectrum. The method has been applied in the case of the electrochemically induced polymerization of acrylonitrile. Two particles were found to be generated during electrolysis. They are assigned to the anionradical and to the di-anion of acrylonitrile.     

Template synthesis in the nickel(II)–thiocarbohydrazide–propanone triple system

The complexing process proceeding in the Ni^II–thiocarbohydrazide (H₂N–H–NC(=S)–NH–NH₂)–propanone triple system in EtOH solution and nickel(II)hexacyanoferrate(II) gelatin-immobilized matrix has been studied. It has been found that in the first case, template synthesis leading, as a minimum, to formation of three coordination compounds of Ni^II with (N,N,S,S)-donor tetradentate ligands having NiL¹, NiL² and NiL³compositions where L¹ is 4,6,6-trimethyl-2,3,7,8-tetraazanonen-3-di(thiohydrazide)-1,9, L² is 4,6,6,12-tetrametyl-1,9-dithio-2,3,7,8,10,11-hexaazatridekadien-3,11-hydrazide-1 and L³ is 2,8,10,10,16-pentamethyl-5,13-dithio-3,4,6,7,11,12,14,15-octaazaheptadekatrien-2,7,15 is observed, whereas in the gelatin-immobilized matrix, a complexing process in the system considered does not occur.     

Magnetic properties of copper(II) complexes with some hydrazones of substituted salicylaldehydes

A series of novel mono-and binuclear copper(II) complexes with substituted salicylaldehyde acylhydrazones H₂L of the formula CuL · xH2O (x = 0 and 1) and [Cu(HL)](ClO₄)(CH₃OH) were synthesized. The isolated dimeric complexes of copper acetate were found to exist as isomers with different bridging atoms. In dimers showing a superexchange between the paramagnetic centers through bridging phenoxide O atoms, the antiferromagnetic exchange couplings were much stronger than those in complexes with bridging O atoms of the a-oxyazine fragment.     

Investigations of benzimidazole derivatives

3-(1-Methyl-2-benzimidazolyl)acrylic acid was obtained by the reaction of 1,2-dimethylbenzimidazole with chloral and subsequent hydrolysis of the condensation product. The hydrochloride of the chloride of this acid and its esters and amides were synthesized. The methyl and ethyl esters of the acid were synthesized by the Wittig reaction. Chemische Vitamin D<Subscript>3</Subscript>-Bestimmung in Lebertran

The different aspects of Vitamin D₃ determination and the data reported in the literature are discussed. The spectrophotometric determination of Vitamin D₃ in cod-liver oil is carried out after the alkaline saponification, extraction of unsaponified parts, precipitation of accompanying sterols and the column- and thin-layer chromatographic purification and separation of vitamin D₃ on 40 cm plates from other vitamins. The dyestuff α-naphtholbenzein is suited well as standard substance for the better location and identification of vitamin D₃ zone on the thin-layer plate. The results obtained from the chemical method were checked through the simultaneous biological determination.     

Self-dual Yang-Mills fields ind=4 and integrable systems in 1≤d≤3

The Ward correspondence between self-dual Yang-Mills fields and holomorphic vector bundles is used to develop a method for reducing the Lax pair for the self-duality equations of the Yang-Mills model ind=4 with respect to the action of continuous symmetry groups. It is well known that reductions of the self-duality equations lead to systems of nonlinear differential equations in dimension 1d3. For the integration of the reduced equations, it is necessary to find a Lax pair whose compatibility conditions is these equations. The method makes it possible to obtain systematically a Lax representation for the reduced self-duality equations. This is illustrated by a large number of examples.N. N.
