Summary Modulated temperature DSC was investigated, comparing data found experimentally to that derived from theory. Deviation from theory was found with regard to the amplitude of the modulated heat flow signal when large modulation amplitudes were employed in the experiment. These deviations were determined to be dependent on the absolute temperature and it was concluded that further investigation of the heat flow signal obtained during MTDSC experiments is required. 相似文献

Polyurethanes are widely used in the manufacture of commercial products such as foams and paints. During combustion, these polymers can generate isocyanates, which induce adverse health effects. Polymer pyrolysis (Py) hyphenated with mass spectrometry (MS) allows the investigation of polymer thermal degradation over time/temperature. A diphenylmethanediisocyanate (MDI) polyurethane foam was analyzed with electron ionization (EI) and metastable atom bombardment (MAB) ionization at a pyrolysis temperature of 400 °C. The recently introduced MAB ionization source uses discrete energy stored in metastable atoms of gases to ionize the analytes. This characteristic allows modulation of the ionization energy by simply changing the ionization gas. The extensive fragmentation of molecular ions observed using EI 70 eV is not totally eliminated with EI 10 eV. However, only molecular ions are observed with MAB using N2 as the ionization gas. Temperature gradients were used to separate the products generated during the thermal degradation of a 1,6-hexamethylenediisocyanate (HDI) polyurethane paint. The analysis of mass spectra was facilitated owing to a selective desorption of pyrolysis products. Furthermore, changing the MAB ionization gas allows elucidation of the structure of the pyrolysis products by controlling the extent of their fragmentation. During these experiments, isocyanic acid, methyleneisocyanate, ethyleneisocyanate, propylisocyanate and butylisocyanate were detected. 相似文献

Various practical and theoretical considerations were examined in the creation and optimization of a high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)-based one-site immunometric assay. This method used an HPLC analyte analog column and post-column chemiluminescence detection. The specific analyte chosen as the model for this study was l-thyroxine (also known as T4). In this technique, a sample containing thyroxine was first combined with an excess of anti-T4 antibody Fab fragments that had earlier been conjugated with chemiluminescent acridinium ester labels. After incubation, the mixture was injected onto a column that contained immobilized T4. The amount of thyroxine in the original sample was then determined by measuring the labeled Fab fragments that appeared in the non-retained fraction, or the decrease in excess Fab fragments that were bound to and later eluted from the column. Items considered in creating this assay included the preparation of acridinium ester-labeled Fab fragments, the detection of these fragments with a post-column reactor, and the creation of a suitable immobilized analog column for capturing excess labeled Fab fragments. The final method could measure T4 in standards at clinically-relevant concentrations and provided a response within 1.5 min of sample injection, following a 20-45 min incubation with the labeled Fab fragments. Possible applications of this method include its use in clinical chemistry and the screening of proteomic or combinatorial libraries. 相似文献

A primary cleavage of aliphatic ozonides by electron-impact, implying O? O and C? C bond breaking, is described. This mode of degradation, which is not observed for aromatic ozonides, is fav oured by electron releasing substituents. For the cis and trans 4-methyl-2pentene ozonides, the ionization potentials are 8.81 and 8.86 (±0.5) eV, respectively. Summary 3-Bromo-6-chloro- and 6-bromo-3-chloro-8-nitro, -8-amino-, and -8-hydroxyquinolines along with 3-bromo- and 3-chloroquinolin-6,8-diols were prepared and tested for antifungal activity against six fungi (Aspergillus niger, A. oryzae, Myrothecium verrucaria, Trichoderma viride, Mucor cirinelloides, Trichophyton mentagrophytes) inSabouraud dextrose broth. Compounds with chlorine in the 3 position were generally more fungitoxic than the corresponding analogues with bromine. 6-Bromo-3-chloro-8-quinolinol inhibited four fungi at levels below 1 µg/ml andA. niger andM. cirinelloides at 2 µg/ml each.

A simple and rapid capillary electrophoresis (CE) method was developed for the quantitation of nicotine in commercial tobacco products. The method involves a 6 min run at 30 kV, using a 50 mM phosphate buffer (pH 2.5), paraquat as internal standard, and UV detection at 260 nm. Nicotine was extracted from tobacco products in <15 min. Recoveries from spiked extracts were >95%, and the extraction efficiencies of water, 1 M HCI, 1 M acetic acid, 5 mM phosphate buffer (pH 2.5), and 1% triethanol amine were similar. Nicotine concentrations in 67 samples of cigarettes, cigars, and bidis varied between 0.37 and 2.96% (w/w). An established gas chromatography/mass spectrometry method using toluene extraction consistently yielded lower nicotine values than the CE method. Experimental evidence suggests that this is due to insufficient extraction of nicotine by toluene. 相似文献

concanavalin A-Sepharose (CAS). The cellobiase activity of the immobilized enzyme was 1334 U/mg dried CAS or 108 U/mL CAS
gel. The β-glucosidase-CAS complex was entrapped within crosslinked propylene glycol alginate/bone-geletin gel spheres that
possessed between 0.67 and 2.35 cellobiase U/mL spheres, depending on their size. The effect of cellobiose concentration (10–300
mM) on the activity of native, immobilized, and gel-entrapped enzyme was determined. It was shown that concentrations of cellobiose
between 10 and 180 mM were not inhibitory to the entrapped enzyme, although inhibition was found to occur with the native
and immobilized enzyme. Exogenous ion addition was not necessary to maintain the structural integrity of the spheres, which
