Phosphorescent iridium(III) complexes are being widely explored for their utility in diverse photophysical applications. The performance of these materials in such roles depends heavily on their excited-state properties, which can be tuned through ligand and substituent effects. This concept article focuses on methods for synthetically tailoring the properties of bis-cyclometalated iridium(III) materials, and explores the factors governing the nature of their lowest excited state.  相似文献

In an analysis of a combined chymotrypsin/AspN digest of galectin-3 by positive ion nano-electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (nanoESI-MS) several peptides were observed which showed metal adduct ions as their most abundant ion signals. The most prominent adduct ions were observed at m/z values corresponding to [M+40]2+, [M+41]3+, and [M+42]4+ ions. Detailed investigation of the [M+40]2+ ion of the peptide GAPAGPLIVPY showed that it was not, as originally expected, a [M+H+39K]2+ adduct ion but had the composition [M+40Ca]2+. This was verified by several approaches: (i) nanoESI-MS/MS of the [M+Ca]2+ adduct ions resulted in the virtually exclusive formation of doubly charged fragment ions; (ii) mass determination by quadrupole time-of-flight (QTOF)-MS provided a preliminary identification; and (iii) accurate mass measurement using nanoESI Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FTICR)-MS at a mass resolving power of 500 000 allowed the specific detection and identification of the isobaric ion pairs [M+40Ca]2+/[M+H+39K]2+ and [M+24Mg]2+/[M+H+23Na]2+. All peptides in the chymotryptic galectin-3 digest without a basic residue (K or R) showed addition of calcium as the most prominent ionisation principle. A further common feature of these nonbasic peptides was the presence of several proline residues, which is assumed to be a factor promoting the intense addition of calcium. It was observed that the common trace levels of sodium and calcium in analytical grade solvents (about 1-10 microM) are sufficient to generate the [M+H+23Na]2+ and [M+40Ca]2+ ions as the most prominent species of the peptide GAPAGPLIVPY. We conclude that the sequence motifs P-XX-P and P-XXX-P favour the solvation of alkaline earth ions in ESI-MS. In view of the successful detection of physiological Ca/protein interactions by ESI-MS, this finding may point to a solvation of Ca2+ by galectin in solution. The findings open new routes of research in the study of metal/protein and metal/peptide interactions  相似文献

Five bis(dimethylsilyl)-m-carborane-siloxane polymers with methyl, phenyl, and 2-cyanoethyl ligands were characterized by (1)H, (11)B, (13)C, and (29)Si nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. All relevant chemical shifts are reported, whereas signal assignment was confirmed by 2D NMR spectroscopy. The chemical composition of the polymers was calculated from the (1)H and (29)Si NMR spectra. Only (29)Si NMR spectroscopy was able to quantify the methoxy end group, from which the average molecular weights were calculated. The copolymer Dexsil 300 turned out to have a regular microstructure, whilst the terpolymers Dexsil 400 and Dexsil 410 have only partly regular sequences. (11)B NMR spectroscopy confirmed the m-carborane structure and revealed some low molecular weight impurities.  相似文献

Linear and star-shaped styrene-butadiene block copolymers synthesized by anionic polymerization of butadiene and styrene were fractionated by applying a newly developed large-scale fractionation technique, named continuous spin fractionation (CSF). Their molecular weight and polydispersity index (d=M(w)/M(n)) were measured with size-exclusion chromatography and static light scattering. For the linear triblock copolymer a fractionation via temperature variation turned out to be better suited than the usual isothermal procedure. The star-shaped polymer with the d value of 1.33 was fractionated in two CSF steps to get the targeted sample, which has a considerably more uniform structure and a narrower molecular weight distribution (d=1.11). The corresponding starting linear diblock copolymer was fractionated in one step reducing d from 1.68 to 1.17. With one set of simple laboratory equipment, 1kg polymer can be fractionated per day. Utilizing CSF, for the first time, we fractionated successfully the block copolymers.  相似文献

The ortho-diphenylphosphanylbenzoyl (o-DPPB) group was explored as a directing leaving group in copper-mediated and copper-catalyzed allylic substitution with Grignard reagents. Complete control of chemo-, regio- and stereoselectivity with complete syn-1,3-chirality transfer was observed as a result of the directed nature of the reaction. No excess of organometallic reagent is required and the directing group can be recovered quantitatively. Coordination studies in the solid state and in solution have shown that two substrates are bound via the phosphine function of the directing group at copper. Dynamic NMR experiments in solution are in agreement with a ligand-exchange process at copper, a prerequisite for the development of a substoichiometric process.  相似文献

9,10,11,20,21,22-hexaphenyltetrabenzo[a,c,l,n]pentacene (2) and a dimethyl derivative (2m) were prepared by the reaction of 1,3-diphenylphenanthro[9,10-c]furan with bisaryne equivalents generated from 1,2,4,5-tetrabromo-3,6-diarylbenzenes in the presence of n-butyllithium, followed by deoxygenation of the double adducts with low-valent titanium. Both are bright red solids with a strong orange fluorescence in solution. The X-ray structures of these compounds show them to be the most highly twisted polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons known. Compound 2 has an end-to-end twist of 144 degrees , and the two crystallographically independent molecules of 2m have twists of 138 degrees and 143 degrees. Both molecules were resolved by chromatography on chiral supports, and the pure enantiomers have extremely high specific rotations (for 2, [alpha]D = 7400 degrees; for 2m, 5600 degrees), but the molecules racemize slowly at room temperature (DeltaG++rac = 24 kcal/mol). Both the experimental geometry and the observed racemization barrier for 2 are in good agreement with computational studies of the molecule at a variety of levels. Attempts to prepare compound 2 by reaction of tetraphenylbenzyne with 9,10,12,13-tetraphenyl-11-oxacyclopenta[b]triphenylene (3, a twisted isobenzofuran) gave no adducts, and attempts to prepare tetradecaphenylpentacene by reaction of hexaphenylisobenzofuran (11) with bisaryne equivalents gave only monoadducts.  相似文献

A fully automated sequential-injection-capillary electrophoresis (SI-CE) system was developed using commercially available components as the syringe pump, the selection and injection valves and the high voltage power supply. The interface connecting the SI with the CE unit consisted of two T-pieces, where the capillary was inserted in one T-piece and a Pt electrode in the other (grounded) T-piece. By pressurising the whole system using a syringe pump, hydrodynamic injection was feasible. For characterisation, the system was applied to a mixture of adenosine and adenosine monophosphate at different concentrations. The calibration curve obtained gave a detection limit of 0.5 microg g(-1) (correlation coefficient of 0.997). The reproducibility of the injection was also assessed, resulting in a RSD value (5 injections) of 5.4%. The total time of analysis, from injection, conditioning and separation to cleaning the capillary again was 15 minutes. In another application, employing the full power of the automated SIA-CE system, myoglobin was mixed directly using the flow system with different concentrations of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), a known denaturing agent. The different conformations obtained in this way were analysed with the CE system and a distinct shift in migration time and decreasing of the native peak of myoglobin (Mb) could be observed. The protein samples prepared were also analysed with off-line infrared spectroscopy (IR), confirming these results.  相似文献

The difluorcarbene complex [Fe2(CO)8(mu-CF2)] (2) reacts with AsMe3 under CO substitution to give the mu-CF2 containing complexes [Fe2(CO)6(AsMe3)2(mu-CF2)] (4) and [Fe2(CO)5(AsMe3)3(mu-CF2)] (5) which have an [Fe2(CO)9]-like structure as shown by X-ray analyses. In the solid state, 4 forms two isomers, 4a and 4b, in a 3 to 1 ratio, which differ in the position of the mu-CF(2) ligand; 4a has a local C(2) axis and 4b has C1 symmetry. The Fe-Fe distances in 4 and 5 are 2.47 A and are the shortest ones found in [Fe2(CO)9]-like compounds. Efforts were also undertaken to replace one or more CO groups in 2 by other ligands, such as N (bpy, phen, pzy, etc.) or P donors (dppe, dppm). With dppm, only the CF(2) free complex, [Fe2(CO)4(mu-Ph2PCH2PPh2)2(mu-CO)] (6), could be detected and characterized by X-ray analysis. Most of the reactions resulted in the formation of red-brown materials which were insoluble in the usual solvents and which could not be characterized. The use of CH2Cl2 during the attempts to crystallize a product from the reaction of 2 and phen gave [Fe(phen)3]Cl2 (7) in low yields. For 4 and 5, the electronic structures were analyzed using the atoms in molecules (AIM) theory. No electron density was found between the two iron atoms, and the short contacts can be interpreted in terms of a pi-interaction.  相似文献

Synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction and solid-state (13)C NMR shift tensor data are combined to provide a unique path to structure in microcrystalline organic solids. Analysis is demonstrated on ambuic acid powder, a widely occurring natural product, to provide the complete crystal structure. The NMR data verify phase purity, specify one molecule per asymmetric unit, and provide an initial structural model including relative stereochemistry and molecular conformation. A refinement of X-ray data from the initial model establishes that ambuic acid crystallizes in the P2(1) space group with unit cell parameters a = 15.5047(7), b = 4.3904(2), and c = 14.1933(4) A and beta = 110.3134(3) degrees . This combined analysis yields structural improvements at two dihedral angles over prior NMR predictions with differences of 103 degrees and 37 degrees found. Only minor differences of +/-5.5 degrees , on average, are observed at all remaining dihedral angles. Predicted hydroxyl hydrogen-bonding orientations also fit NMR predictions within +/-6.9 degrees . This refinement corrects chemical shift assignments at two carbons and reduces the NMR error by approximately 16%. This work demonstrates that the combination of long-range order information from synchrotron powder diffraction data together with the accurate shorter range structure given by solid-state NMR measurements is a powerful tool for studying challenging organic solids.  相似文献
