Two-vibron bound states in the β--Fermi--Pasta--Ulam model

This paper studies the two-vibron bound states in the β- Fermi Pasta-Ulam model by means of the number conserving approximation combined with the number state method. The results indicate that on-site, adjacent-site and mixed two-vibron bound states may exist in the model. Specially, wave number has a significant effect on such bound states, which may be considered as the quantum effects of the localized states in quantum systems.     

Two new variants of nonlinear inexact Uzawa algorithms for saddle-point problems

Summary. In this paper, we consider some nonlinear inexact Uzawa methods for iteratively solving linear saddle-point problems. By means of a new technique, we first give an essential improvement on the convergence results of Bramble-Paschiak-Vassilev for a known nonlinear inexact Uzawa algorithm. Then we propose two new algorithms, which can be viewed as a combination of the known nonlinear inexact Uzawa method with the classical steepest descent method and conjugate gradient method respectively. The two new algorithms converge under very practical conditions and do not require any apriori estimates on the minimal and maximal eigenvalues of the preconditioned systems involved, including the preconditioned Schur complement. Numerical results of the algorithms applied for the Stokes problem and a purely linear system of algebraic equations are presented to show the efficiency of the algorithms. Rheological effect on thermocapillary flow of a liquid film jet painted on a moving boundary

In the present paper, a liquid (or melt) film of relatively high temperature ejected from a vessel and painted on the moving solid film is analyzed by using the second-order fluid model of the non-Newtonian fluid. The thermocapillary flow driven by the temperature gradient on the free surface of a Newtonian liquid film was discussed before. The effect of rheological fluid on thermocapillary flow is considered in the present paper. The analysis is based on the approximations of lubrication theory and perturbation theory. The equation of liquid height and the process of thermal hydrodynamics of the non-Newtonian liquid film are obtained, and the case of weak effect of the rheological fluid is solved in detail.     

The asymptotic distributions of sums of record values for distributions with lognormal-type tails

Let X1,X2,... be a sequence of i.i.d. random variables and let X(1),X(2),... be the associatedrecord value sequence. We focus on the asymptotic distributions of sums of records, Tn=∑nk=1X(k), forX1 ∈ LN(γ). In this case, we find that 2 is a strange point for parameter γ. When γ＞ 2, Tn is asymptoticallynormal, while for 2 ＞γ＞ 1, we prove that Tn cannot converge in distribution to any non-degenerate lawthrough common centralizing and normalizing and log Tn is asymptotically normal.     

Short syntheses of (+/-)-delta-araneosene and humulene utilizing a combination of four-component assembly and palladium-mediated cyclization

Quantal phases, disorder effects, and superconductivity in spin-Peierls systems

In view of recent developments in the investigation on cuprate high- T(c) superconductors and the spin-Peierls compound CuGeO3, we study the effect of dilute impurity doping on the spin-Peierls state in quasi-one-dimensional systems. We identify a common origin for the emergence of antiferromagnetic order upon the introduction of static vacancies and superconductivity for mobile holes.     

Measurements of the cross section for e(+)e(-) --> hadrons at center-of-mass energies from 2 to 5 GeV

We report values of R = sigma(e(+)e(-)-->hadrons)/sigma(e(+)e(-)-->mu(+)mu(-)) for 85 center-of-mass energies between 2 and 5 GeV measured with the upgraded Beijing Spectrometer at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider.     

Left ventricular 4D echocardiogram motion and shape analysis

The article describes the methodology and the processes of modeling the function and the motion of left ventricle using transesophageal echocardiograph. The parameters can be used in studying the functionality of left ventricle, the status of abnormality of myocardial, and the geometric and morphological of left ventricle in shape analysis. The parameters describes the motion of left ventricle are the left ventricular (LV) floating long axis, the morphological parameters. The LV morphological parameters describe the wall motion, the LV chamber cavity variation, the effective R-ratio of endomyocardial chamber of LV, the area surface curvature, and the global surface curvature circularity. The parameters such as stroke volume, ejection fraction used in evaluation of LV functions are also extracted.
