 The problem of heat convection from a vertically oscillating cylinder in a quiescent fluid is investigated. The governing equations of motion and energy are solved numerically in a non-inertial frame of references to determine the flow field and heat transfer characteristics under different conditions. The main dominating parameters are Keulegan–Carpenter number, KC, frequency parameter, β, Grashof number, Gr and Prandtl number, Pr. The ranges considered for these parameters are KC ≤ 10, β≤40 and Gr ≤ 105 while Prandtl number is kept constant. The study revealed that the effect of amplitude and frequency of oscillation on heat transfer is strongly influenced by the Grashof number range. In the forced convection regime (Gr = 0), the increase of KC creates extensive vortex motion at all cylinder positions that leads to a significant increase in heat transfer. A similar trend, but with a lesser extent, is also observed for the increase of β. However, at high Grashof numbers, the effect of oscillation on heat convection is only significant at large values of KC. Received on 5 June 2000 / Published online: 29 November 2001  相似文献

Abstract

A series of novel diphenyl(arylamino)(1-phenyl-3-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)methylphosphonates have been synthesized in high yields. They were screened for their antibacterial activities against Escherichia coli (NCIM2065) as a Gram-negative bacterium, Bacillus subtilis (PC1219) and Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC25292) as Gram-positive bacteria, and Schccaromycies cerevisiae as a fungus. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of the synthetic compounds showed moderate antibacterial and antifungal activities at low concentrations (10–1000 μg/mL).

Abstract

A series of title compounds 2 and 3 were efficiently synthesized via the condensation of 10–hydroxycamptothecin with various symmetric (O,O′-monoaryl)-thiophosphoryl chlorides and asymmetric (O-ethyl-O′-aryl)-thiophosphoryl chlorides in sodium hydroxide powder and acetonitrile system. The structures of title compounds 2 and 3 were confirmed by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, 31P[1H] NMR,and mass spectral data. These symmetric [(O,O′-monoaryl)-thiophosphoryl)]-(20S)-camptothecin (2a–f) and asymmetric [(O-ethyl-O′-aryl)-thiophosphoryl)]-(20S)-camptothecin (3a–f) compounds were also tested for their in vitro antimicrobial activities against some bacterial strains, namely, S. aureus, B. Simplex, E. acetylicum, E. coli, P. aeruginosa, S. flexenari, S. aureus, S. typhi, and some fungal strains Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus (molds), S. cerevisiae, C. albicans, T. longifucus, A. flavus, M. canis, F. solani, and C. glaberata (yeasts).

Abstract

3,5-Dicyano-6-mercapto-4-phenylpyridin-2(1H)-one (1) was reacted with ethyl chloroacetate to give compound (II) which on reaction with hydrazine hydrate gave the corresponding hydrazide derivative (III). Acylation of (III) with acetic acid, phenylisocyanate, or phenylisothiocyanate gave different monoacyl derivatives (IV-VI). Condensation of III with aromatic aldehydes and acetylacetone gave compounds VIIa-c, VIII respectively. Compound I was reacted with chloroanilides, bromoacetone and phenacyl bromide to yield the IX-XI; these and compound II gave thieno[2,3-b]-pyridines (XU-XV) on treatment with sodium ethoxide solution. Reaction of XII with acetic anhydride gave the diacetyl derivative XVI. Hydrolysis of compound XII with sodium hydroxide gave the corresponding acid (XVII) which on treatment with acetic anhydride gave the oxazine derivative (XVIII). Reaction of oxazine compound XVIII with ammonium acetate and hydrazine hydrate gave pyrido[3′,2′:4,5] thieno[3,2-d]pyrimidin-4.7-dione derivative (XIX) and (XX) respectively. The N-amino derivative (XX) was reacted with 4-nitrobenzaldehyde to give the corresponding azomethine (XXI).

Significant in vitro gram-positive and gram negative antibacterial activities as well as anti-fungal effect were observed for some members of the series.  相似文献

New Mn(III)‐L and Mn(IV)‐L complexes were prepared from the highly lipophilic salophen ligand (L): phenol 2,2′‐[(4,5‐dimethyl‐1,2‐phenylene)bis[(E)‐nitrilomethylidyne]]bis[4,6‐bis(1,1‐dimethylethyl). The prepared complexes were fully characterized and used for the construction of thiocyanate membrane electrodes. Optimized membrane electrodes contained 33.0 mg PVC, 66.0 mg o‐nitrophenyloctylether, 50 or 5 (mole %) tetrakis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl borate and 1 mg Mn(III)‐L (sensor 2) or Mn‐(IV)‐L (sensor 12), respectively. Such electrodes exhibited linear responses toward thiocynate in a concentration range of 10?1–10?5 M and detection limits of 8.3×10?6, 8.9×10?6 M for sensor 2 and 12, respectively. Optimized membrane electrodes exhbited high selectivty toward thiocayante compared to more lipophilic anions. The observed thiocyanate selectivity of the optimized membranes was confirmed by formation constant calculations for Mn(III)‐L and Mn(IV)‐L with SCN?, β=1014.1 and 1012.5, which was measured potentiometrically using the sandwich membrane method. Furthermore, computational study using DFT calculations was performed to at DFT/B3LYP level of theory to confirm the observed selectivity data. The response times were 3 and 0.5 min for low and high concentrations. The lifetimes of the optimized electrodes were ~4–6 weeks. The analytical utility of the optimized membrane electrodes was demonstrated by the analysis of thiocyanate level in different saliva samples.  相似文献

The lawsone content has been evaluated quantitatively in eight commercial henna powders and two collected henna leaves. The phenolic, chloroform-soluble fraction of the majority of the examined samples showed the presence of lawsone and two other pigments. Here we aimed to optimize high performance thin layer chromatography for the determination of lawsone. Upon using the optimized method the examined samples showed considerable variation in lawsone concentration ranging from 0.004 up to 0.608 wt%, indicating that some samples were almost devoid of lawsone. Some of these products were subjected to preliminary in vivo toxicity studies.  相似文献

This paper presents the results of experimental and numerical investigations of the problem of turbulent natural convection in a converging-plate vertical channel. The channel has two isothermally heated inclined walls and two adiabatic vertical side walls. The parameters involved in this study are the channel geometry represented by the channel width at exit, the inclination of the heated walls and the temperature difference between the heated walls and the ambient. The investigation covered modified Rayleigh numbers up to 108 in the computational study and up to 9.3 × 106 in the experimental work. The experimental measurements focused on the velocity field and were carried out using a PIV system and included measurements of the mean velocity profiles as well as the root-mean-square velocity and shear stress profiles. The experiments were conducted for an inclination angle of 30°, a gap width of 10 mm and two temperature differences (∆T=25.4°C and 49.8°C). The velocity profiles in the lower part of the channel indicated the presence of two distinct layers. The first layer is adjacent to the heated plate and driven by buoyancy forces while the second layer extends from the point of maximum velocity to the channel center plane and driven mainly by shear forces. The velocity profile at the upper portion of the channel has shown the merging of the two boundary layers growing over the two heated walls. The measured values of the Reynolds shear stress and root mean square of the horizontal and vertical velocity fluctuation components have reached their maximum near the wall while having smaller values in the core region. The computational results have shown that the average Nusselt number increases approximately linearly with the increase of the modified Rayleigh number when plotted on log–log scale. The variation of the local Nusselt number indicated infinite values at the channel inlet (leading edge effect) and high values at the channel exit (trailing edge effect). For a fixed value of the top channel opening, the increase of the inclination angle tended to reduce flow velocity at the inlet section while changing the flow structure near the heated plates in such a way to create boundary-layer type flow. The maximum value of the average Nusselt number occurs when θ = 0 and decreases with the increase of the inclination angle. On the other hand, the increase of the channel width at exit for the same inclination angle caused a monotonic increase in the flow velocity at the channel inlet.  相似文献
