A small step towards the hydrodynamic limit of a colored disordered lattice gas

We consider a system of colored particles in ${\mathbb{Z}}^d$ driven by a disordered Markov generator similar to that of Faggionato and Martinelli (Probab. Theory Related Fields 127 (2003) 535–608) and submitted to two external chemical potentials. We construct Gibbs measures such that the dynamics is time reversible. To cite this article: A. Diagnosis of Toxoplasmosis Using a Synthetic Glycosylphosphatidylinositol Glycan

Around 2 billion people worldwide are infected with the apicomplexan parasite Toxoplasma gondii which induces a variety of medical conditions. For example, primary infection during pregnancy can result in fetal death or mental retardation of the child. Diagnosis of acute infections in pregnant women is challenging but crucially important as the drugs used to treat T. gondii infections are potentially harmful to the unborn child. Better, faster, more reliable, and cheaper means of diagnosis by using defined antigens for accurate serological tests are highly desirable. Synthetic pathogen‐specific glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) glycan antigens are diagnostic markers and have been used to distinguish between toxoplasmosis disease states using human sera.     

A concise synthesis of lentiginosine derivatives using a pyridinium formation via the Mitsunobu reaction

A four-step synthesis of (-)-lentiginosine and its epimers is described starting from 2-bromopyridine. The key step consisted of a quaternarization of a fully unprotected pyridinium-polyol unit using Mitsunobu methodology. Subsequent PtO(2)-catalyzed diastereoselective hydrogenation of the pyridinium ring proceeded smoothly and led to the expected dihydroxyindolizidines with excellent yields. This stereochemically flexible strategy has been illustrated by the concise total synthesis of non-natural products derivatives such as (-)-lentiginosine and its stereoisomers in high yields.     

A General Method for Synthesis of GPI Anchors Illustrated by the Total Synthesis of the Low-Molecular-Weight Antigen from Toxoplasma gondii

Building blocks: A new, general synthetic strategy, which allows the construction of branched glycosylphosphatidylinositols (GPIs), enables the synthesis of parasitic glycolipid 1 from Toxoplasma gondii. In addition, the structure is further confirmed by recognition of monoclonal antibodies.     

Nonlinear optical absorption and NIR to blue conversion in highly stable polymeric dye rod

A simple method for preparing transparent crack-free solid polymeric matrices is presented. Different dopants may be hosted in the polymeric matrix. The method is applied to prepare Glycidyl-methacrylate polymeric rods doped with solutions of coumarin 500 laser dye (ethanol and chloroform). The solvent??s effect has appeared as a shift in the absorption and photoluminous spectral bands of the laser dye in the solid polymeric host. The prepared solid samples showed nonlinear optical response on excitation with 532?nm of nanosecond laser pulses using the open aperture z-scan technique. Each sample shows different nonlinear behavior in response to the irradiating laser beam. The theoretical fitting of the experimental data indicates that the dominant mechanism of nonlinear absorption is the two-photon absorption process. Visible amplified spontaneous emission is reported in both polymeric dye rods by NIR pumping. High photostability is reported for the samples.     

Spectral Gap for Multicolor Nearest-Neighbor Exclusion Processes with Site Disorder

We consider a system of multicolor disordered lattice gas in a hypercube of ℤ ^d . Using a recent result of Caputo (article in preparation), we give an estimate of the spectral gap for the nearest-neighbor dynamics which plays an important role in the study of hydrodynamic limit.
