Quaternary ammonium persulfates as free‐radical initiators for high‐temperature polymerization are synthesized and their shelf‐life stability investigated. These initiators do not have gaseous byproducts and are therefore ideal for frontal polymerization, a process in which polymeric materials are produced via a thermal front that propagates through the unreacted monomer/initiator solution. Quaternary ammonium persulfate initiators offer additional qualities such as high solubility in organic media and low volatility, which are desirable for frontal polymerization. The initiators are synthesized using two procedures, and the initiating efficacy of the respective products is compared to a peroxide initiator in the frontal polymerization of 1,6‐hexanediol diacrylate. Of all the quartenary ammonium persulfates synthesized, tricaprylmethylammonium (Aliquat) persulfate (APSO) is the best initiator for frontal polymerization because it is soluble in organic media, is very reactive, and does not produce volatile byproducts under decomposition. A study of the decomposition kinetics of APSO is performed, and frontal polymerization is proposed as a quicker analytical technique to assay the purity. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The temperature studies of transmission spectra for as-deposited and annealed amorphous As2S3 thin films are carried out. The optical absorption spectra in the range of their exponential behaviour are analysed, and the dispersion dependences of refractive index as well as their temperature variation are investigated. The Urbach behaviour of optical absorption edge is revealed, the Urbach absorption edge parameters are determined, and their temperature dependences are studied. The effect of different type of disordering on the optical absorption processes in As2S3 thin films is studied. A comparative analysis of Urbach absorption edge parameters of As2S3 bulk glasses and thin films is performed.  相似文献

In this framework, the novel analytical approach is presented to predict the dual solutions of Jeffery–Hamel (JH) transport model utilizing KKL (Koo–Kleinstreuer–Li) Al2O3 model with magnetic field, Ohmic heating and viscous dissipation. The predictor homotopy analysis method (PHAM) is applied to realize the existence of multiple solutions (bifurcation) for stretching/shrinking parameter and channel angle. It is observed that the dual solutions exist only for convergent channel. The eigenvalue problem is constructed to perform stability analysis which shows the physically stability of the upper branch. A numerical validation with Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg (RKF) shooting method using MATLAB is also carried out for verification. The Reynolds number is responsible to increase the velocity of fluid for both branches of the solution. For the increasing values of Ec and M, the Nusselt number decreases and increases respectively.  相似文献

The steady two-dimensional MHD stagnation point flow towards a stretching sheet with variable surface temperature is investigated. The governing system of partial differential equations are transformed into ordinary differential equations, which are then solved numerically using a finite-difference scheme known as the Keller-box method. The effects of the governing parameters on the flow field and heat transfer characteristics are obtained and discussed. It is found that the heat transfer rate at the surface increases with the magnetic parameter when the free stream velocity exceeds the stretching velocity, i.e. ε>1, and the opposite is observed when ε<1.  相似文献

The mixed convection boundary-layer flow on a vertical surface heated convectively is considered when a constant surface heat transfer parameter is assumed. The problem is seen to be chararterized by a mixed convection parameter $\gamma $ γ . The flow and heat transfer near the leading edge correspond to forced convection solution and numerical solutions are obtained to determine how the solution then develops. The solution at large distances is obtained and this identifies a critical value $\gamma _c$ γ c of the parameter $\gamma $ γ . For $\gamma > \gamma _c$ γ > γ c a solution at large distances is possible and this is approached in the numerical integrations. For $\gamma <\gamma _c$ γ < γ c the numerical solution breaks down at a finite distance along the surface with a singularity, the nature of which is discussed.  相似文献
