Ratio of electron charge radius and Compton wavelength of electron is known to be equal to the dimensionless electromagnetic coupling constant e2/? c. It is pointed out that the coupling constant has two alternative interpretations: as a ratio of two angular momenta since Planck constant has the dimension of angular momentum, and two flux quanta e and hc/e. We argue that it has deep physical significance such that the electronic charge becomes flux itself and at a fundamental level fractional spin of quantized vortex. A unified perspective of the three interpretations of the coupling constant is presented invoking the new interpretation of the magnetic moment of the electron comprising three terms. A critical discussion on the magnetism and flux quantum is given and the implication on the spintronics is pointed out. 相似文献

A chemical bath deposition method of preparing photoconducting nanocrystalline lead sulphide (PbS) thin films at room temperature (RT) is described. The aqueous bath of lead acetate, thiourea, and ammonium hydroxide produce films of about 100?nm thicknesses in 45?minutes. X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies show that these films are nanocrystalline cubic PbS with 10?nm crystallite size. Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) revealed that the films consist of spherical grains of sizes 100 to 200?nm. The transmission spectra of the films show onset of absorption edge around 850?nm and the bandgap is around 1.65?eV. The films are p-type with dark conductivity of 2.5×10?3?S/cm and mobility of 0.07?cm2/V?s. The photosensitivity is 6–7 for an illumination of 80?mW/cm2 from a halogen lamp (50?W, 12?V). Transient photoconductivity measurements reveal short and long life times of minority carriers. Thermoelectric and photothermoelectric studies show that photoconductivity in these films is mainly due to photogenerated majority carriers. 相似文献

Harmonic dynamical behaviour of thallous halides (TlCl and TlBr) have been studied using the new van der Waals three-body
force shell model (VTSM), which incorporates the effects of the van der Waals interaction along with long-range Coulomb interactions,
three-body interactions and short-range second neighbour interactions in the framework of rigid shell model (RSM). Phonon
dispersion curves (PDC), variations of Debye temperature with absolute temperature and phonon density of state (PDS) curves
have been reported for thallous halides using VTSM. Comparison of experimental values with those of VTSM and TSM are also
reported in the paper and a good agreement between experimental and VTSM values has been found, from which it may be inferred
that the incorporation of van der Waals interactions is essential for the complete harmonic dynamical behaviour of thallous

Multi-phase anaerobic reactor for H2 and CH4 production from paperboard mill wastewater was studied. The reactor was operated at hydraulic retention times (HRTs) of 12, 18, 24, and 36 h, and organic loading rates (OLRs) of 2.2, 1.5, 1.1, and 0.75 kg chemical oxygen demand (COD)/m3 day, respectively. HRT of 12 h and OLR of 2.2 kg COD/m3 day provided maximum hydrogen yield of 42.76?±?14.5 ml/g CODremoved and volumetric substrate uptake rate (?rS) of 16.51?±?4.43 mg COD/L h. This corresponded to the highest soluble COD/total COD (SCOD/TCOD) ratio of 56.25?±?3.3 % and the maximum volatile fatty acid (VFA) yield (YVFA) of 0.21?±?0.03 g VFA/g COD, confirming that H2 was mainly produced through SCOD conversion. The highest methane yield (18.78?±?3.8 ml/g CODremoved) and ?rS of 21.74?±?1.34 mgCOD/L h were achieved at an HRT of 36 h and OLR of 0.75 kg COD/m3 day. The maximum hydrogen production rate (HPR) and methane production rate (MPR) were achieved at carbon to nitrogen (C/N) ratio of 47.9 and 14.3, respectively. A simple and convenient assay based on single-drop microextraction with infrared spectroscopy is reported for the determination of selenium. The extraction conditions were carefully optimized and selenium was preconcentrated through single-drop microextraction in 1,2-dichloroethane containing N-hydroxy-N-phenyl-N′-(o-tolyl) benzimidamide. The method is selective and almost all common ions including molybdenum(VI), chromium(VI), and tungsten(VI) did not interfere with the isolation protocol. The selenite band at 875?±?2?cm?1, which is assigned to the asymmetric vibrational stretch (υ3), was used for the quantification of selenium. Low limits of detection and quantification of 2.0 and 6.6?µg?L?1 demonstrate the sensitivity of the method. Good precision was evaluated by the standard deviation (2.0?µg?L?1) and relative standard deviation (0.5%) for 8?µg?L?1 was achieved for 10 measurements. An efficient synthesis of acridinediones in two steps have been achieved using water as a reaction media without chromatographic purification. First step involves the reaction of dimedone with ammonium acetate to yield enaminone in water which on further reaction with various aldehydes yields acridinedione in aqueous media.
