Stability analysis of electrostatic nanotweezers

In this paper, the pull-in instability of electrostatically actuated nanotweezers considering the dispersion forces is studied using distributed and lumped parameter models. By analogy to nanoswitches, closed-form solutions are obtained for electrostatic nanotweezers. The distributed and lumped parameter modeling of the tweezer result, respectively, in two coupled nonlinear boundary value problems and two coupled nonlinear equations, which are solved numerically in the cases of electrostatic microtweezers, freestanding nanotweezers, and electrostatic nanotweezers. In each case, analytical and numerical solutions are obtained and compared with those of the corresponding switch. In addition, the results of the distributed and lumped parameter models are compared. The detachment length and minimum initial gap of nanotweezers are determined.

Activation cross sections for some isotopes of Ti and Mo with 14.7 MeV neutrons

The (n,p) and (n,2n) reaction cross sections on natural Ti and Mo targets have been measured forE _n =14.73±0.05 MeV neutrons using the activation technique. The induced gamma-ray activities of the irradiated samples and their monitor foils were measured by using an HPGe detector. The cross sections were compared with previous results. The experimental uncertainties are between 3% and 8% in most cases.     

Some comments on the original Kaluza-Klein theory

In this note the basis of the Kaluza-Klein theory is examined critically and it is pointed out that the five-dimensional version can’t work in the way that was originally intended. The reason why the problem was not noted originally is elucidated.     

Micro and Nanoporous Membrane Platforms for Carbon Neutrality: Membrane Gas Separation Prospects

Recently, carbon neutrality has been promoted as a potentially practical solution to global CO₂ emissions and increasing energy-consumption challenges. Many attempts have been made to remove CO₂ from the environment to address climate change and rising sea levels owing to anthropogenic CO₂ emissions. Herein, membrane technology is proposed as a suitable solution for carbon neutrality. This review aims to comprehensively evaluate the currently available scientific research on membranes for carbon capture, focusing on innovative microporous material membranes used for CO₂ separation and considering their material, chemical, and physical characteristics and permeability factors. Membranes from such materials comprise metal-organic frameworks, zeolites, silica, porous organic frameworks, and microporous polymers. The critical obstacles related to membrane design, growth, and CO₂ capture and usage processes are summarized to establish novel membranes and strategies and accelerate their scaleup.
