Abstract

Red phosphorus reacts with 4-methoxystyrene in the KOH-DMSO superbase system (130 °C, 3 h, Ar) in the presence of a small quantity of H2O to give tris[2-(4-methoxyphenyl)ethyl]phosphane oxide as the main product in 30% yield. Microwave activation of the reaction (600 W, 6 min) affords basically a mixture of the phosphane oxide and tris[2-(4-methoxyphenyl)ethyl]phosphane (in a ratio of 1:1). When the mixture is exposed to air (r.t., 24 h), the phosphane oxide is formed in 85% yield.

The closing of the nuclear fuel cycle is an unsolved problem of great importance. Separating radionuclides produced in a nuclear reactor is useful both for the storage of nuclear waste and for recycling of nuclear fuel. These separations can be performed by designing appropriate chelation chemistries and liquid-liquid extraction schemes, such as in the TALSPEAK process (Trivalent Actinide-Lanthanide Separation by Phosphorus reagent Extraction from Aqueous Komplexes). However, there are no approved methods for the industrial scale reprocessing of civilian nuclear fuel in the United States. One bottleneck in the design of next-generation solvent extraction-based nuclear fuel reprocessing schemes is a lack of interfacial mass transfer rate constants obtained under well-controlled conditions for lanthanide and actinide ligand complexes; such rate constants are a prerequisite for mechanistic understanding of the extraction chemistries involved and are of great assistance in the design of new chemistries. In addition, rate constants obtained under conditions of known interfacial area have immediate, practical utility in models required for the scaling-up of laboratory-scale demonstrations to industrial-scale solutions. Existing experimental techniques for determining these rate constants suffer from two key drawbacks: either slow mixing or unknown interfacial area. The volume of waste produced by traditional methods is an additional, practical concern in experiments involving radioactive elements, both from disposal cost and experimenter safety standpoints. In this paper, we test a plug-based microfluidic system that uses flowing plugs (droplets) in microfluidic channels to determine absolute interfacial mass transfer rate constants under conditions of both rapid mixing and controlled interfacial area. We utilize this system to determine, for the first time, the rate constants for interfacial transfer of all lanthanides, minus promethium, plus yttrium, under TALSPEAK process conditions, as a first step toward testing the molecular mechanism of this separation process.  相似文献

We present a combined experimental and theoretical study of the electronic transport through single-molecule junctions based on nitrile-terminated biphenyl derivatives. Using a scanning tunneling microscope-based break-junction technique, we show that the nitrile-terminated compounds give rise to well-defined peaks in the conductance histograms resulting from the high selectivity of the N-Au binding. Ab initio calculations have revealed that the transport takes place through the tail of the LUMO. Furthermore, we have found both theoretically and experimentally that the conductance of the molecular junctions is roughly proportional to the square of the cosine of the torsion angle between the two benzene rings of the biphenyl core, which demonstrates the robustness of this structure-conductance relationship.  相似文献

Reactions catalyzed by artificial allosteric enzymes, chimeric proteins with fused biorecognition and catalytic units, were used to mimic multi-input Boolean logic systems. The catalytic parts of the systems were represented by pyrroloquinoline quinone-dependent glucose dehydrogenase (PQQ-GDH). Two biorecognition units, calmodulin or artificial peptide-clamp, were integrated into PQQ-GDH and locked it in the OFF or ON state respectively. The ligand-peptide binding cooperatively with Ca2+ cations to a calmodulin bioreceptor resulted in the enzyme activation, while another ligand-peptide bound to a clamp-receptor inhibited the enzyme. The enzyme activation and inhibition originated from peptide-induced allosteric transitions in the receptor units that propagated to the catalytic domain. While most of enzymes used to mimic Boolean logic gates operate with two inputs (substrate and co-substrate), the used chimeric enzymes were controlled by four inputs (glucose – substrate, dichlorophenolindophenol – electron acceptor/co-substrate, Ca2+ cations and a peptide – activating/inhibiting signals). The biocatalytic reactions controlled by four input signals were considered as logic networks composed of several concatenated logic gates. The developed approach allows potentially programming complex logic networks operating with various biomolecular inputs representing potential utility for different biomedical applications.  相似文献

The fast Fourier transform (FFT) sampling algorithm has been used with success in application to protein‐protein docking and for protein mapping, the latter docking a variety of small organic molecules for the identification of binding hot spots on the target protein. Here we explore the local rather than global usage of the FFT sampling approach in docking applications. If the global FFT based search yields a near‐native cluster of docked structures for a protein complex, then focused resampling of the cluster generally leads to a substantial increase in the number of conformations close to the native structure. In protein mapping, focused resampling of the selected hot spot regions generally reveals further hot spots that, while not as strong as the primary hot spots, also contribute to ligand binding. The detection of additional ligand binding regions is shown by the improved overlap between hot spots and bound ligands. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

High‐resolution images of oxygen distributions in microheterogeneous samples are obtained by two‐photon laser scanning microscopy (2P LSM), using a newly developed dendritic nanoprobe with internally enhanced two‐photon absorption (2PA) cross‐section. In this probe, energy is harvested by a 2PA antenna, which passes excitation onto a phosphorescent metalloporphyrin via intramolecular energy transfer. The 2P LSM allows sectioning of oxygen gradients with near diffraction‐limited resolution, and lifetime‐based acquisition eliminates dependence on the local probe concentration. The technique is validated on objects with a priori known oxygen distributions and applied to imaging of pO2 in cells.  相似文献

Calculations of spectroscopic properties of the CnO and FlO molecules are performed using ab initio all-electron 4c- and 2c-relativistic coupled-cluster approaches with single, double, and perturbative triple excitations. The corresponding calculation for HgO is also accomplished for comparison with the published data. The dependence of the results on the parameters of the basis set and approximations used is investigated in detail. The overall relative uncertainties of the recommended values on the level of 1–2 % are reached. The calculated spectroscopic constants are indicative of the following trend in the reactivity of the oxides HgO>FlO>CnO. This is confirmed by the trend in the adsorption energies, Eads, of these molecules on the surfaces of gold, quartz, and Teflon. The predicted rather low Eads values for the latter case should guarantee their delivery from the recoil chamber to the chemistry set up in gas-phase experiments.  相似文献
