We prove a factorization result for relatively compact subsets of compact operators using the Bartle and Graves Selection Theorem, a characterization of relatively compact subsets of tensor products due to Grothendieck, and results of Figiel and Johnson on factorization of compact operators. A further proof, essentially based on the Banach-Dieudonné Theorem, is included. Our methods enable us to give an easier proof of a result of W.H. Graves and W.M. Ruess.

The objective of this study was to create a thin film optode for fast pH measurements that meets the requirements for imaging pH-responses from cells as well as for a future hybrid design for detection of multiple analytes simultaneously. The sensor is based on the covalent attachment of 8-hydroxypyrene-1,3,6-trisulfonate (HPTS) to a film forming cellulose acetate material through a sulfonamide linkage. The synthesis routes of the cellulose material and regio-specific covalent attachment of the dye are described in detail. The sensor was sterilized in two different ways and showed excellent biocompatibility with Chinese hamster ovary cells. Imprints from cells and μm thin cell extensions were visualized when altering pH of the surrounding solution. The sensor was tested together with time-dependent sigmoidal calibrations giving pH determinations with an exceptional precision and accuracy during measurement within pH 6-8. The precision of the optode, calculated as pooled S.D. (n = 8) according to IUPAC recommendations between pH 6.641 and 7.742 was 0.0029. The accuracy was significantly better than the electrode used as reference during the measurements. The response time (0-95%) was 100 s between pH 6.641 and 7.742 and the reverse response (95-0%) was 80 s. The sensor shows great potential for extra-cellular pH determination over time during cell growth and pharmacological exposure. 相似文献

A numerical generation method of hyperspherical harmonics for tetra-atomic systems, in terms of row-orthonormal hyperspherical coordinates-a hyper-radius and eight angles-is presented. The nine-dimensional coordinate space is split into three three-dimensional spaces, the physical rotation, kinematic rotation, and kinematic invariant spaces. The eight-angle principal-axes-of-inertia hyperspherical harmonics are expanded in Wigner rotation matrices for the physical and kinematic rotation angles. The remaining two-angle harmonics defined in kinematic invariant space are expanded in a basis of trigonometric functions, and the diagonalization of the kinetic energy operator in this basis provides highly accurate harmonics. This trigonometric basis is chosen to provide a mathematically exact and finite expansion for the harmonics. Individually, each basis function does not satisfy appropriate boundary conditions at the poles of the kinetic energy operator; however, the numerically generated linear combination of these functions which constitutes the harmonic does. The size of this basis is minimized using the symmetries of the system, in particular, internal symmetries, involving different sets of coordinates in nine-dimensional space corresponding to the same physical configuration. 相似文献

BACKGROUND: The development of estrogen pharmaceutical agents with appropriate tissue-selectivity profiles has not yet benefited substantially from the application of combinatorial synthetic approaches to the preparation of structural classes that are known to be ligands for the estrogen receptor (ER). We have developed an estrogen pharmacophore that consists of a simple heterocyclic core scaffold, amenable to construction by combinatorial methods, onto which are appended 3-4 peripheral substituents that embody substructural motifs commonly found in nonsteroidal estrogens. The issue addressed here is whether these heterocyclic core structures can be used to prepare ligands with good affinity for the ER. RESULTS: We prepared representative members of various azole core structures. Although members of the imidazole, thiazole or isoxazole classes generally have weak binding for the ER, several members of the pyrazole class show good binding affinity. The high-affinity pyrazoles bear close conformational relationship to the nonsteroidal ligand raloxifene, and they can be fitted into the ligand-binding pocket of the ER-raloxifene X-ray structure. CONCLUSIONS: Compounds such as these pyrazoles, which are novel ER ligands, are well suited for combinatorial synthesis using solid-phase methods. 相似文献

Imidazo[1,5-a]pyridinium ions are identified as highly emissive and water-soluble fluorophores accessed by an efficient three-component coupling reaction. Synthetic modifications of groups conjugated to the polyheterocyclic core are shown to profoundly impact the emission properties of these molecules. Notably, two structural isomers of functionalized imidazo[1,5-a]pyridinium ions were found to exhibit distinct de-excitation pathways, which are responsible for either a fluorescence turn-on or ratiometric response to pH change. 相似文献

The interaction with native DNA of a 2,7-diazapyrenium-based ligand 1 and its Pt(II) rectangular metallacycle 2 is explored through circular and linear dichroism and fluorescence spectroscopies. The metal-free ligand 1 binds through intercalation, with a binding constant of approximately 5×10(5) M(-1) , whereas the metallacycle 2 binds and bends the DNA with a binding constant of 7×10(6) M(-1) . PCR assays show that metallo-supramolecular box 2 interferes with DNA transactions in vitro whereas the intercalator 1 does not. The metallacycle is active against four human cancer cell lines, with IC(50) values ranging between 3.1 and 19.2?μM and shows similar levels of efficacy, but a different spectrum of activity, to cisplatin. 相似文献

We introduce the formalism of positive super currents on ${\mathbb{R}^{n}}$ , in strong analogy with the theory of positive currents in ${\mathbb{C}^{n}}$ . We consider intersection of currents and Lelong numbers, and as an application we show that the formalism can be used to describe tropical varieties. This is similar in spirit to the fact that in complex analysis the current of integration of an analytic variety can be identified with a closed, positive current. 相似文献

Hydrogen/deuterium exchange in combination with mass spectrometry (H/D MS) is a sensitive technique for detection of changes
in protein conformation and dynamics. However, wide application of H/D MS has been hindered, in part, by the lack of computational
tools necessary for efficient analysis of the large data sets associated with this technique. We report a novel web-based
application for automatic analysis of H/D MS experimental data. This application relies on the high resolution of mass spectrometers
to extract all isotopic envelopes before correlating these envelopes with individual peptides. Although a fully automatic
analysis is possible, a variety of graphical tools are included to aid in the verification of correlations and rankings of
the isotopic peptide envelopes. As a demonstration, the rate constants for H/D exchange of peptides from rabbit muscle pyruvate
