Mechanism of energy dissipation in a droplet cluster

It has been shown that thermocapillary processes on the surface of the drops in a drop cluster that appears above a locally heated liquid ensure additional energy transfer. Thus, the drop cluster is a typical dissipative structure. The energy dissipated by an individual drop of the cluster has been estimated.     

Critical Asymptotic Behavior of Correlations in a Simple Liquid

We consider a representation of the total and the direct correlation functions in a liquid in terms of the corresponding spectral densities. Analysis of the spectral density properties reveals a mechanism responsible for changing the analytic properties of the Fourier transform of the correlation function and its asymptotic behavior in the critical domain. We show that the well-known restrictions imposed on possible values of the critical asymptotic exponent follow from this mechanism.     

Model of an Irregular Structure

A model of forming a disordered structure on a two-dimensional lattice with allowance for particle interactions is suggested. Noninteracting particles and two types of particle interaction are investigated. Based on the method of ensemble averaging, fractal dimensions, number of clusters, their total volume, and other parameters are calculated. Dependences of these parameters on the concentration of impurity atoms are examined.     

Direct Variational Method in the Theory of Liquids

We consider a variational problem equivalent to the hyperchain approximation for the binary (radial) function in the classical theory of liquids and show that the additional condition including the direct correlation function in the functional along with the total correlation function can be taken into account if both these functions are considered independent for a suitable modification of the varied functional.     

Finite model of a crystal

A general expansion of the statistical sum is given for a finite model of a crystal. The multiplicative approximation, which leads to the Bazarov theory, is analyzed. The free energy of the crystal is evaluated.     

Asymptotic radial distribution function of a liquid

The large-distance asymptotic behavior of the radial distribution function is analyzed on the basis of the complete equation for this function.
