We shall discuss about the scientific motivation and construction of a 7×7 BaF2 crystal array at Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre, Calcutta. We present results of searches for technirho (rho(T)), techniomega (omega(T)), and Z' particles, using the decay channels rho(T),omega(T),Z'-->e(+)e(-). The search is based on 124.8 pb(-1) of data collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron during 1992-1996. In the absence of a signal, we set 95% C.L. upper limits on the cross sections for the processes pp-->rho(T),omega(T),Z'-->e(+)e(-) as a function of the mass of the decaying particle. For certain model parameters, we exclude the existence of degenerate rho(T) and omega(T) states with masses below about 200 GeV. We exclude a Z' with mass below 670 GeV, assuming that it has the same couplings to fermions as the Z boson. 相似文献

For the first time, bamboo-shaped multiwalled carbon nanotubes, having diameter of the order of 50 nm, have been grown on carbon black in a fluidized bed in bulk amount. The activation energy for the synthesis of the product was found out to be around 33 kJ/mol in the temperature range of 700−900 °C. The carbon nanotubes were separated from the carbon black by preferential oxidation of the later, the temperature of which was determined by thermogravimetry. The transmission electron microscopy revealed different features of the nanotubes such as “Y” junction, bend, and catalyst filling inside the nanotubes. Small angle neutron scattering was performed on the nanotubes synthesized at different temperatures. The data were fitted into a suitable model in order to find out the average diameter, which decreases with increase in synthesis temperature. The Monte Carlo simulation predicts the same behavior. Based on the above observations, a possible growth mechanism has been predicted. The oscillation in carbon saturation value inside the catalyst in the fluidized bed has been indicated as the responsible factor for the bamboo-shaped structure. 相似文献

A new approach for characterizing high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) transducers is presented. The technique is based upon the acoustic streaming field generated by absorption of the HIFU beam in a liquid medium. The streaming field is quantified using digital particle image velocimetry, and a numerical algorithm is employed to compute the acoustic intensity field giving rise to the observed streaming field. The method as presented here is applicable to moderate intensity regimes, above the intensities which may be damaging to conventional hydrophones, but below the levels where nonlinear propagation effects are appreciable. Intensity fields and acoustic powers predicted using the streaming method were found to agree within 10% with measurements obtained using hydrophones and radiation force balances. Besides acoustic intensity fields, the streaming technique may be used to determine other important HIFU parameters, such as beam tilt angle or absorption of the propagation medium. 相似文献

We report the direct observation of the excited L=1 state B_(s2)(*) in fully reconstructed decays to B+K-. The mass of the B_(s2)(*) meson is measured to be 5839.6+/-1.1(stat)+/-0.7(syst) MeV/c(2), and its production rate relative to the B+ meson is measured to be [1.15+/-0.23(stat)+/-0.13(syst)]%. 相似文献

In this article, we report the design and synthesis of a series of well-dispersed superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles
(SPIONs) using chitosan as a surface modifying agent to develop a potential T
2 contrast probe for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The amine, carboxyl, hydroxyl, and thiol functionalities were introduced
on chitosan-coated magnetic probe via simple reactions with small reactive organic molecules to afford a series of biofunctionalized
nanoparticles. Physico-chemical characterizations of these functionalized nanoparticles were performed by TEM, XRD, DLS, FTIR,
and VSM. The colloidal stability of these functionalized iron oxide nanoparticles was investigated in presence of phosphate
buffer saline, high salt concentrations and different cell media for 1 week. MRI analysis of human cervical carcinoma (HeLa)
cell lines treated with nanoparticles elucidated that the amine-functionalized nanoparticles exhibited higher amount of signal
darkening and lower T
2 relaxation in comparison to the others. The cellular internalization efficacy of these functionalized SPIONs was also investigated
with HeLa cancer cell line by magnetically activated cell sorting (MACS) and fluorescence microscopy and results established
selectively higher internalization efficacy of amine-functionalized nanoparticles to cancer cells. These positive attributes

The inplane free vibration behaviour of plates is investigated using the dynamic stiffness method. Some distinctive modes which went unnoticed in earlier investigations using the dynamic stiffness method have been addressed by revisiting the problem and focusing on the special set of missing solutions. Results are validated extensively both by published results as well as by numerical studies using NASTRAN and ABAQUS. The accuracy of the finite element method for inplane free vibration analysis is assessed and critically examined through the provision of benchmark solutions. Some representative modes that are missed by well-established dynamic-stiffness-based computer programs are presented. The inplane dynamic stiffness matrix presented is of great importance when combined with the out of plane matrix in order to obtain the closed-form solution for free vibration analysis of structures with complex geometries. 相似文献

A detailed investigation of the paramagnetic to ferromagnetic transition in (La(1-x)Eu(x))(0.67)Ca(0.33)MnO(3) having small Eu(3+)-content (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.2) has been carried out through resistivity and magnetization measurements. X-ray diffraction patterns of the compounds reveal a single phase (La(1-x)Eu(x))(0.67)Ca(0.33)MnO(3) (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.2) of an orthorhombic crystal structure after annealing the precursor at 800 °C for 2 h in air. With increasing Eu(3+)-content, the second-order transition (at x = 0 and 0.1) changes to first-order at x = 0.2. The experimental results demonstrate thermomagnetic irreversibility of the transition for x = 0.2 composition. This arises between the supercooling and superheating regimes where both the ferromagnetic and paramagnetic phases coexist. 相似文献

Excited states of 83Kr, populated in the 76Ge(11B, 3npγ) reaction at a beam energy of 50 MeV, have been studied. The ΔI?=?1 band, built upon the 2,510.0 keV state, has been observed up to 5,639.4 keV with spin (27/2???). Mean lifetimes have been measured up to spin 23/2?? in ΔI?=?1 band using the Doppler shift attenuation method. The B(M1) rates derived from the measured lifetimes decrease smoothly with spin indicating that the angular momentum belonging to this band are generated by the shears mechanism. 相似文献
