Antibiotic resistance is a growing problem worldwide. For this reason, clinical laboratories often determine the susceptibility of the bacterial isolate to a number of different antibiotics in order to establish the most effective antibiotic for treatment. Unfortunately, current susceptibility assays are time consuming. Antibiotic resistance often involves the chemical modification of an antibiotic to an inactive form by an enzyme expressed by the bacterium. Selected reaction monitoring (SRM) has the ability to quickly monitor and identify these chemical changes in an unprecedented time scale. In this work, we used SRM as a technique to determine the susceptibility of several different antibiotics to the chemically modifying enzymes β‐lactamase and chloramphenicol acetyltransferase, enzymes used by bacteria to confer resistance to major classes of commonly used antibiotics. We also used this technique to directly monitor the effects of resistant bacteria grown in a broth containing a specific antibiotic. Because SRM is highly selective and can also identify chemical changes in a multitude of antibiotics in a single assay, SRM has the ability to detect organisms that are resistant to multiple antibiotics in a single assay. For these reasons, the use of SRM greatly reduces the time it takes to determine the susceptibility or resistance of an organism to a multitude of antibiotics by eliminating the time‐consuming process found in other currently used methods. Analyticity of nucleon form factors allows to derive sum rules which,using space-like and time-like data as input,can give unique information about behaviors in energy regions not experimentally accessible.Taking advantage from new time-like data on proton-antiproton differential cross section and hence the possibility to separate electric and magnetic form factors also in the time-like region,we verify the consistency of the asymptotic behavior predicted by the perturbative QCD for the proton magnetic form factor.  相似文献

We study the velocity of bubble walls in the electroweak phase transition. For several extensions of the Standard Model, we estimate the friction and calculate the wall velocity, taking into account the hydrodynamics. We find that deflagrations are generally more likely than detonations. Nevertheless, for models with extra bosons, which give a strongly first-order phase transition, the deflagration velocity is in general quite high, 0.1vw0.6. Therefore, such phase transitions may produce an important signal of gravitational waves. On the other hand, models with extra fermions which are strongly coupled to the Higgs boson may provide a strongly first-order phase transition and small velocities, 10−2vw10−1, as required by electroweak baryogenesis.  相似文献

The dynamics of a two dimensional chain like structure of vortices is studied in the model of nonlinear time dependent Ginzburg–Landau equations (TDGL). The transition between different linear chains of vortices in a superconducting homogeneous slab with both surfaces in contact with a thin layer of metallic material is analyzed. The magnetization curve, vortex number, vortex configurations and modulus of the order parameter are studied as a function of the external magnetic field. We show how these vortex configurations are affected by the extrapolation length b (de Gennes boundary conditions), Ψ due to the proximity effects in a mesoscopic sample of area dx × dy, where dy = 60ξ(0) and dx varies discretely from 30ξ(0) to 12ξ(0). Possible connection with recent theoretical results in a two dimensional system of charged particles is discussed.  相似文献
