The interphase between mercury and acetone+ nitromethane mixtures with KPF6 as a supporting electrolyte

Differential capacity and interfacial tension measurements were carried out on mercury for acetone+nitromethane mixtures with KPF₆ as a supporting electrolyte. On the basis of Gibbs adsorption equation and Guggenheim's model of the surface phase the composition of the surface layer was estimated for different acetone contents and different charges on the mercury electrode. The results obtained indicate that the positive acetone adsorption is marked at negative charges with maximum at σ_m=?0.07 C m^?2, but is practically non-existent at zero and positive charges.     

Creatinine biosensor based on ammonium ion selective electrode and its application in flow-injection analysis

A new, highly sensitive, fast responding and stable potentiometric biosensor for creatinine determination is developed. The biosensor is based on an ammonium ion-selective electrode. Creatinine deiminase (EC 3.5.4.21) is chemically immobilized on the surface of the polymeric ion-sensitive membrane in the form of monomolecular layer using a simple, one-step carbodiimide covalent attachment method. The resulting enzyme electrodes are useful for measurement under flow injection analysis (FIA) conditions. The biosensors exhibit excellent operational and storage stability. The enzyme electrodes retain over 70% of initial sensitivity after ten weeks of work under FIA conditions. The storage stability at 4 °C is longer than half a year without loss of sensitivity. Under optimized conditions near 30 samples per hour can be analyzed and the determination range (0.02-20.0 mmol l⁻¹) fully covers creatinine concentrations important from clinical and biomedical point of view. The simple biosensor/FIA system has been successfully used for determination of creatinine in urine, serum and posthemodialysate samples.     

Di-2-pyridylketone semicarbazone as ligand in metal complexes: synthesis and X-ray crystal structure

A series of complexes of di-2-pyridylketone semicarbazone (Hdips) and Mn(II), Co(II), Co(III), Ni(II) and Cu(II) nitrates were synthesized and characterized by means of IR spectroscopy and for cobalt and nickel by X-ray crystal structures. The results are in agreement with the formulae: Mn(Hdips)₂(NO₃)₂·2H₂O, [Co(Hdips)₂](NO₃)₂·H₂O (I), [Ni(Hdips)₂](NO₃)₂·H₂O (II), Cu(Hdips)(NO₃)₂·2H₂O, [Co(dips)₂](NO₃)·2H₂O (III). The structure of I and II are monoclinic, space groupP2₁/c, with, I,a=15.980(4),b=11.531(2),c=16.170(2)Å;=104.20(2)°,Z=4,R=0.032; II,a=16.109(5),b=11.480(3),c=16.135(6)Å;=104.15(2)°,Z=4,R=0.069. Compound III is also monoclinic, space groupP2₁/c witha=12.173(5),b=15.619(5),c=15.338(8)Å;=111.40(4)°,Z=4,R=0.059. In these complexes the ligand is tridentate via carbonylic oxygen, semicarbazone and pyridine nitrogens forming each two five membered chelate rings with the metal in a distorted octahedral geometry.     

Titanosilicates as Supports for an Enzymatic Alcoholysis Reaction

Novel [Cr^III(amp)(bipy)(Cl)] (1) (H₂amp = N-(hydroxyphenyl)salicyldimine; bipy = 2,2-bipyridyl) and [Cr^III(app)(bipy)(Cl)]⁺ (2) (H₂app = N-(hydroxyphenyl)pyridine-2-carboxaldimine; bipy = 2,2-bipyridyl) complexes have been synthesized and characterized by physico-chemical methods. Complexes 1 and 2 have been employed as catalysts in the oxidation of both saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons using tert-butylhydroperoxide (t-BuOOH). The significance of the results with respect to oxo-functionalization of C-H bonds both in unsaturated and saturated hydrocarbons is noted.     

Total synthesis of (+)-aspidospermidine: a new strategy for the enantiospecific synthesis of aspidosperma alkaloids

A new strategy was developed for the enantiospecific synthesis of aspidosperma alkaloids. The key steps involve a novel ketene-lactonization reaction of a chiral vinyl sulfoxide to efficiently set up the quaternary carbon center, and a tandem Michael addition-alkylation reaction sequence to form the polycyclic core structure. This new strategy was employed in the total synthesis of natural product (+)-aspidospermidine.     

Über einige neue Bispirane

We have obtained four new bispirane systems in which both spiroatoms are vicinal atoms in cyclopropane or cyclobutane rings and in which the heterocyclic component has the basic structure of 1,4-dioxep-2-ene. We have shown that from two possibilities (bispiran, propellan) the general reaction leads only to a bispiran system. To the bispiran2 exhibiting the highest hyperchromism we ascribed the bispirocoplanar conformation (Fig. 1).

A kinetic approach to homogeneous Ziegler type polymerization. Steady state

In this paper we present a kinetic approach to the analysis of steady-state homogeneous Ziegler-Natta polymerization activity data. The influence of the number of monomeric species that are coordinated to the active site on the apparent rate law is discussed and the equations are fitted to the experimental results.     

Pyrimido[4,5‐c]pyridazine‐5,7(6H, 8H)‐diones: Marvelous substrates for study of nucleophilic substitution of hydrogen

The data on nucleophilic substitution reactions of hydrogen in 6,8‐dimethylpyrimido[4,5‐c]pyridazine‐5,7(6H,8H)‐dione, its 3‐chloride, N₂‐oxide and some other derivatives are reviewed. All these compounds possess a remarkable ability to undergo not only simple functionalizations but also tandem and cascade transformations leading to annelation of various heterocyclic rings.     

Homolytic reductive alkylation of methylvinyl ketone with ethers by Ti(III) decomposition of t-butyl hydroperoxide

Reductive alkylatin of methylvinylketone has been accomplished by hydrogen abstraction from cyclic ethers with the redox couple: t-butyl hydroperoxide-titanous chloride. A redox radical mechanism is proposed and the selectivity of the hydrogen abstraction by t-butoxy radicals and reduction of α-ketoalkyl radical by titanous ions is discussed.
