We have developed a technique for dual-temporal-mode, ultrafast, time-domain, balanced homodyne detection. We have tested it by performing homodyne measurements on pairs of picosecond-duration temporal modes (or “time bins”) carrying a delocalized single photon. The experimental homodyne data have been used to reconstruct both the density matrix and the two-mode Wigner function of the delocalized state, thus showing the correlations existing between the pair of temporal modes carrying the single photon.  相似文献

Nowadays, power semiconductor laser diode arrays are becoming a widespread source for a large variety of industrial applications. In particular, the availability of low-cost high-power laser diode arrays makes their use possible in the industrial context for material cutting, welding, diagnostics and processing. In the above applications, the exact control of the beam quality plays a very important role because it directly affects the reliability of the final result. In this paper, we present two different approaches useful for the characterization of the beam quality in laser diode arrays. The first one, starting from total intensity measurements on planes orthogonal to the beam propagation path, is able to deduce the working conditions of each laser setting up the array. The second one is aimed at the measurement of a global quality factor of the array itself; to this end, the empirical extension of the M2 concept to composite beams is presented along with some experimental results. As the first technique is especially intended for the non-destructive detection of design problems in the array itself and in the bias circuitry, the second one represents a powerful tool for the rapid on-line diagnostics of the laser beam during its use.  相似文献

The antimalaric drug artemisinin (QHS) is believed to operate through a mechanism initiated with the cleavage of its endoperoxidic bond induced by transition metal ions. An ESR investigation of the reaction of QHS with human serum in the presence of two spin trapping agents has led to the detection of spin adducts of carbon-centred radicals. Experiments carried out replacing the human serum with iron(II) salts led to the observation of the same spin adducts, thus supporting previous suggestions that alsoin vivo the drug operatesvia a radical-based mechanism. UV irradiation of QHS also led to the trapping of transient free radicals.  相似文献

This note demonstrates that, contrary to their claims, their solution for the temperature correlation function is indeed long-ranged and reduces to that of Garcia et al.[J. Stat. The main objective of this paper consists in modelling, optimizing, and controlling container transfer operations inside intermodal terminals. More specifically, maritime container terminals are here considered, involving three kinds of transportation modes, i.e., maritime, rail, and road transport. Generally speaking, an intermodal port terminal can be seen as a system of container flows with two interfaces, towards the hinterland and towards the sea, respectively. Moreover, inside a terminal, unloading operations of inbound containers, container storage, and loading operations of outbound containers are carried out. A simple model for maritime container terminals is proposed in this paper. In the model, a system of queues represents the standing of containers and their movements inside the terminal. The dynamic evolutions of these queues are described by discrete-time equations, where the state variables represent the queue lengths and the control variables take into account the utilization of terminal resources such as load/unload handling rates. On the basis of the proposed model, an optimization problem is defined that consists in minimizing the transfer delays of containers in the terminal. The problem is stated as an optimal control problem whose solution is sought by adopting a receding-horizon strategy.   相似文献
