This paper describes an electron dynamics method where the time dependence of an external oscillating electric field is the perturbing part of the Hamiltonian. Application of the electric field induces charge movement inside the molecule and electronic transitions between the molecular orbitals. The test system is the neutral LiH molecule. The method is applied to wave functions calculated using the B3LYP (hybrid) density functional, with the STO-3G and the 6-31+G basis sets. The molecule undergoes full population inversion between the HOMO and the LUMO when the electric field is in resonance with the HOMO-LUMO energy gap. The magnitude of the electric field directly affects the rate at which electronic transitions occur and the rate at which charges move between lithium and hydrogen atoms. The method is used to model both monochromatic and bichromatic multiphoton effects in LiH. Monochromatic one-, two- and three-photon transitions occur between the HOMO, LUMO and two other virtual orbitals. There is evidence of both [1+2] direct and [1+1+1] stepwise multiphoton transitions. Bichromatically, two "laser" pulses are applied at different frequencies. Electronic transitions can be fine-tuned to occur via pre-specified pathways of virtual molecular orbitals.  相似文献

The structural chemistry of meso-aryl-substituted porhyrins has uncovered a bewildering variety of macrocycle distortions. Saddling angles range up to 40 degrees , while the plane of the phenyl groups at the meso positions may be anywhere between perpendicular to the porphyrin plane (theta = 90 degrees) and tilted to quite acute angles (theta = 30 degrees or even less). These two distortions appear to be correlated. This has naturally been explained by steric hindrance: when the phenyls rotate toward the porphyrin plane, for instance, coerced by packing forces, the pyrrole rings can alleviate the steric hindrance by tilting away to a saddled conformation. We demonstrate, however, that the two motions are intrinsically coupled by electronic factors and are correlated even in the absence of external forces. A saddling motion makes it sterically possible for the phenyl rings to rotate toward the porphyrin plane, which will always happen because of increasingly favorable pi-conjugation interaction with smaller angles theta. The considerable energy lowering due to pi conjugation counteracts the energy cost of the saddling, making the concerted saddling/rotation motion very soft. Unsubstituted meso-aryl porphyrins just do not distort, but an additional driving force may tip the balance in favor of the combined distortion motion. Internal forces having this effect are repulsion of the four hydrogens that occupy the central hole of the ring in porphyrin diacids but also steric repulsion in peripherally crowded porphyrins. These findings lead to a clarification and systematization of the observed structural variety, which indeed shows a remarkable correlation between saddling and phenyl ring tilting.  相似文献

The new selenophosphate Rb4P6Se12 features the trans-decalin-like, [P6Se12]4- anion, a phosphorus-rich species that possesses three parallel P-P bonds and formally P2+ and P4+ centers. The synthesis of Rb4P6Se12 was accomplished with the reductive addition of P to RbPSe6 and represents an interesting example of how alkali chalcophosphates can serve as starting materials to produce new compounds under mild reaction conditions.  相似文献

High-resolution terahertz absorption spectra (0.06-3 THz) have been obtained at 4.2 K for three crystalline forms of trialanine [H2+-(Ala)3-O-]. The crystal structures differ in their beta-sheet forms (parallel vs antiparallel) and in their water composition (hydrated vs dehydrated antiparallel beta-sheet). The spectra are nearly vibrationally resolved, with little absorption below 1 THz. In sharp contrast to observations made in the mid-IR region, the spectral patterns of all three forms are qualitatively different, illustrating the extreme sensitivity to changes in the intermolecular hydrogen-bonding networks that stabilize peptide crystals. Predictions obtained from a classical force field model (CHARMM) and density functional theory (DFT/PW91) for periodic solids are compared with the X-ray structural data and the terahertz absorption spectra. In general, the results for the parallel beta-sheet are in better agreement with experiment than those for the antiparallel beta-sheet. For all three structures, however, most hydrogen bond distances are underestimated at both levels of theory, and the predicted absorption features are significantly red-shifted for the two antiparallel beta-sheet structures. Moreover, the nuclear motions predicted at the two levels of theory are qualitatively different. These results indicate that the PW91 functional is not sufficient to treat the weak intersheet hydrogen bonding present in the different beta-sheet forms and strongly suggest the need for improved force field models that include three-atom hydrogen-bonding terms for periodic solids.  相似文献

The correlation-consistent composite approach (ccCA), an ab initio composite technique for computing atomic and molecular energies, recently has been shown to successfully reproduce experimental data for a number of systems. The ccCA is applied to the G3/99 test set, which includes 223 enthalpies of formation, 88 adiabatic ionization potentials, 58 adiabatic electron affinities, and 8 adiabatic proton affinities. Improvements on the original ccCA formalism include replacing the small basis set quadratic configuration interaction computation with a coupled cluster computation, employing a correction for scalar relativistic effects, utilizing the tight-d forms of the second-row correlation-consistent basis sets, and revisiting the basis set chosen for geometry optimization. With two types of complete basis set extrapolation of MP2 energies, ccCA results in an almost zero mean deviation for the G3/99 set (with a best value of -0.10 kcal mol(-1)), and a 0.96 kcal mol(-1) mean absolute deviation, which is equivalent to the accuracy of the G3X model chemistry. There are no optimized or empirical parameters included in the computation of ccCA energies. Except for a few systems to be discussed, ccCA performs as well as or better than Gn methods for most systems containing first-row atoms, while for systems containing second-row atoms, ccCA is an improvement over Gn model chemistries.  相似文献

The interaction of calix[3]thieno[1]pyrrole, 1, and halide and dihydrogen phosphate anions in a variety of solvents (acetonitrile, propylene carbonate, N,N-dimethylformamide, and dimethyl sulfoxide) has been investigated through 1H NMR, conductance measurements, and titration calorimetry. 1H NMR measurements reveal the sites of interaction of the ligand with the anions in CD3CN while the composition of the complex was determined through conductance measurements. A quantitative assessment of anion-ligand interactions is provided. Thus the thermodynamics of complexation of 1 with halide and dihydrogen phosphate anions in dipolar aprotic media at 298.15 K is reported. These data are interpreted in terms of the thermodynamics of transfer of reactants and product from a reference solvent (acetonitrile) to other solvents. The crucial role played by the solvent on the ability of the ligand to interact with anions and on the composition of the complex is demonstrated.  相似文献

Ribbons of Pr5Fe77−xCrxB18 (x=0x=0, 1, 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5) were produced by melt spinning and then annealed to develop an enhanced-remanence nanocrystalline magnetic material. These nanocomposites with Cr present a coercive field at least 50% higher than the Cr-free ones, which makes them promising materials for bonded magnets. Four different types of annealing were used in order to develop the nanocrystalline state and to optimize the magnetic properties of these alloys. The first was a conventional annealing, where the ribbons were wrapped in a tantalum foil and annealed in an argon atmosphere, but not encapsulated. The second was a flash annealing, where the ribbons were annealed by passing a current through them. The third was a conventional annealing in an external magnetic field. Finally, the fourth was a conventional annealing, where the ribbons were wrapped in a tantalum foil and encapsulated in quartz tubes with argon gas and then annealed. The annealed samples were studied by magnetic measurements, X-ray diffraction, scanning and transmission electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. The best magnetic properties are found for Pr5Fe74Cr3B18, annealed by the fourth method, which resulted in the lowest oxygen content in the annealed nanocrystalline material as confirmed by scanning electron microscopy. The value for the coercive field for this composition is at least 50% higher than for the material without Cr (≈560 vs. ≈320 kA/m) and 40% higher than for the Nd2Fe14B/Fe3B nanocomposite with Cr. Curie temperature measurements and X-ray diffraction data showed that the main phases present in all the samples are Pr2Fe14B, Fe3B and α-Fe, Pr2Fe14B being the majoritary phase. From Curie temperature measurements it was also found that Cr atoms preferentially dissolve in the Fe3B phase.  相似文献
