The high resolution infrared spectrum and laser Stark spectroscopy of thev8 band of propyne

The perpendicularv ₈ band lying in the 1000–1100 cm^–1 region has been studied from infrared and laser Stark, spectra. We were interested in the part of spectrum corresponding to the spectral range of the 9 m CO₂ laser lines. Assignments of rovibrational lines with J'<40 and K'<6 have been made. About 100 Stark resonances have been assigned to 12 rovibrational transitions. Effective molecular constants and dipole moment have been determined with high accuracy. A list of close resonances with CO₂ laser lines is given and may be used for optical pumping experiments.     

A new high-spin isomer in 39 97 Y58

An isomeric state at 3,523 keV excitation energy in⁹⁷Y with a half-life of 144(10) ms has been discovered with the fission-product separator JOSEF. This isomer is depopulated through aγ transition of 162 keV. AnE3 multipolarity for this transition is consistent with the measured conversion coefficients ofα _K =0.98(20) andα _T =1.00(19). Subsequent electromagnetic transitions populate several new⁹⁷Y levels which have high spins. For the isomer the three-quasiparticle configuration [πg _9/2?ν(h _11/2,g _7/2)]27/2^? is proposed. TheE3 transition with a strength about 2 single-particle units is supposed to be of the typeh ₁₁ ^2/+1 →d ₅ ^2/?1 . These findings provide evidence for the rapid shape transition atA?100 since they indicate shell-model character of ₃₉ ⁹⁷ Y₅₈ even at high excitation energies while the immediate neighbour ₃₉ ⁹⁸ Y₅₉ contains a rotational band based on a level at 495 keV.     

Hg2(OH)[BF4], the First Basic Mercurous Tetrafluoroborate

The first basic mercurous tetrafluoroborate, Hg₂(OH)[BF₄], was obtained through a synproportionation reaction of red mercuric oxide, HgO, and elemental mercury in a 35% solution of HBF₄ in water as colourless single crystals. The crystal structure (orthorhombic, Pbca, Z = 8, a = 985.0(1), b = 991.0(1), c = 1141.0(2) pm) contains [(HO)_1/2—Hg—Hg—(OH)_1/2]⁺ zig‐zag chains that are further connected via weak Hg—OH interchain interactions to layers between which the [BF₄]^— are located in an up and down fashion.     

Zum thermischen Verhalten von Li3MnO4. II [1, 2]. Über α- und β- Li2MnO3

Thermal Behaviour of Li₃MnO₄. II. α- and β-Li₂MnO₃ By thermal decomposition of Li₃MnO₄ we obtained two new forms of Li₂MnO₃: α-Li₂MnO₃ crystallizes due to Guinier-Simon photographs cubic face-centered with a = 4.09₂ Å, β-Li₂MnO₃ hexagonal with a = 4,93, c = 14.24 Å, c/a = 2.89. α-Li₂MnO₃ is paramagnetic with μ = 3,82 B.M. Below the Neel temperature (≈? 50 K) β-Li₂MnO₃ is antiferromagnetic. Effective Coordination Numbers, ECoN, are calculated and discussed.     

Anwendung der Streustrahl-Methode zur Bestimmung der Elemente in Mineral?lprodukten mit Hilfe der R?ntgenfluorescenz-Spektral-Analyse am Beispiel der Bleibestimmung in Ottokraftstoffen

Zusammenfassung In einem relativ einfach durchzuführenden Verbundverfahren wird Selen im Sauerstoff-strom innerhalb 15 min bei 1100–1150°C quantitativ aus den Metall- bzw. Metalloxidschmelzen verdampft und in einer mit flüssigem Stickstoff gekühlten Vorlage aufgefangen. Das aus der Vorlage mit einer definierten Menge verdünnter HNO₃ in Gegenwart von Ni-Nitrat gelöste Selen läßt sich direkt durch AAS mit dem Graphitofen (FAAS) äußerst nachweisstark und zuverlässig bestimmen. Die Nachweisgrenze (elektrodenlose Entladungslampe) liegt bei 3×10^–11 g Se. Der Verfahrensverbund erlaubt mit Probenmengen 10 g in Ag und Au Se-Gehalte 0,05 ppb,inCu 0,1 ppb,in Bi 0,2 ppb und in Pb 10 ppb zu erfassen. Für draht-, stab- und spanförmige Proben erhält man für Se-Gehalte von 2–0,002 ppm Variationskoeffizienten zwischen 3 und 6%. Die Vollständigkeit der Se-Verdampfung aus den Matrices Cu, Ag, Au und Bi wurde ebenso wie die Richtigkeit des Gesamtverfahrens durch systematische Untersuchungen belegt.

Determination of se by furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) in the ppb-range in Cu, Cu alloys, Ag, Au, Pb and Bi after volatilization in an oxygen stream

Summary Selenium is evaporated in a multi-stage procedure within 15 min from metals or metal oxides fused at temperatures of 1100–1150°C under a stream of oxygen and is trapped in a receiver cooled with liquid nitrogen. The condensed SeO₂ is dissolved with a definite volume of diluted HNO₃ in the presence of Ni-nitrate and determined with high sensitivity and reliability by FAAS (electrodeless discharge lamp). The detection limit of the FAAS was found to be 3 · 10^–11 g of Se. The multi-stage procedure allows to detect Se levels 0.05 ppb in Ag and Au, 0.1 ppb in Cu, 0.2 ppb in Bi, and 10 ppb in Pb, respectively, with sample weights 10 g. For wire, rod, and chip samples the coefficients of variation are found to be between 3 and 6% for Se contents of 2 to 0.002 ppm. The quantitative evaporation of Se from Cu, Ag, Au, and Bi as well as the accuracy of the whole procedure have been checked systematically.

Quelques precisions sur les effets catalytiques des micelles cationiques hydroxylees

The alkaline hydrolysis of p-nitrophenyl acetate and of CH₃CO₂(CH₂)₂N⁺(CH₃)₂C₁₆H₃₃, Br^? was studied in the presence of micelles C₁₆H₃₃N⁺(CH₃)₂CH₂CH₂OH, Br^? and CTAB, C₁₆H₃₃N⁺(CH₃)₃,Br^?. A pathway involving an intermediate is suggested for the hydrolysis of the ester. Hydrolysis rate of the intermediate in the presence of micelles is the same as hydrolysis rate for the ester in the absence of micelles. Consequently, hydrolysis of p-nitrophenyl acetate is not catalysed by one type of micelle, while it is enhanced by another type of micelle.     

Palladium-induced cyclizations for the synthesis of cis-2,5-disubstituted-3-methylenetetrahydrofurans: studies of the C7-C22 core of amphidinolide K

[formula: see text] The diastereoselective synthesis of cis-2,5-disubstituted-3-methylenetetrahydrofurans via Pd(0)-catalyzed cyclization of 2-methylene-1,4-diols is described. Investigations into the scope of the reaction and its application toward the synthesis of amphidinolide K is reported.     

On the equivalence between the energy and virial routes to the equation of state of hard-sphere fluids

The energy route to the equation of state of hard-sphere fluids is ill defined since the internal energy is just that of an ideal gas, and thus it is independent of density. It is shown that this ambiguity can be avoided by considering a square-shoulder interaction and taking the limit of vanishing shoulder width. The resulting hard-sphere equation of state coincides exactly with the one obtained through the virial route. Therefore, the energy and virial routes to the equation of state of hard-sphere fluids can be considered as equivalent.
