The effect of shear flow on spherical nanoparticles (NPs) migration near a liquid–liquid interface is studied by numerical simulation. We have implemented a compact model through which we use the diffuse interface method for modeling the two fluids and the molecular dynamics method for the simulation of the motion of NPs. Two different cases regarding the state of the two fluids when introducing the NPs are investigated. First, we introduce the NPs randomly into the medium of the two immiscible liquids that are already separated, and the interface is formed between them. For this case, it is shown that before applying any shear flow, 30% of NPs are driven to the interface under the effect of the drag force resulting from the composition gradient between the two fluids at the interface. However, this percentage is increased to reach 66% under the effect of shear defined by a Péclet number Pe = 0.316. In this study, different shear rates are investigated in addition to different shearing times, and we show that both factors have a crucial effect regarding the migration of the NPs toward the interfacial region. In particular, a small shear rate applied for a long time will have approximately the same effect as a greater shear rate applied for a shorter time. In the second studied case, we introduce the NPs into the mixture of two fluids that are already mixed and before phase separation so that the NPs are introduced into the homogenous medium of the two fluids. For this case, we show that in the absence of shear, almost all NPs migrate to the interface during phase separation, whereas shearing has a negative result, mainly because it affects the phase separation.  相似文献

Agglomerate aerosols in a turbulent flow may be subjected to very high turbulent shear rates which through the generation of lift and drag can overcome the adhesive forces binding the constituents of an agglomerate together and cause it to break-up. This paper presents an analysis of the experimental measurements of the breakup of agglomerates between 0.1?C10???m in size, in a turbulent pipe flow followed by an expansion zone with a Reynolds numbers in the range 105 to 107. The analysis shows that even in wall bounded turbulence, the high turbulent shear stresses associated with the small scales of turbulence in the core can be the main source of breakup preceding any break-up that may occur by impaction at the wall. More importantly from these results, a computationally fast and efficient solution is obtained for the General Dynamic Equation (GDE) for agglomerate transport and breakup in highly turbulent flow. Furthermore the solution for the evolution of the aerosol size distribution is consistent with the experimental results. In the turbulent pipe flow section, the agglomerates are exposed continuously to turbulent shear stresses and experience more longer term breakup than in the expansion zone (following the pipe flow) where the exposure time is much less and break-up occurs instantaneously under the action of very high local turbulent shear stresses. The validity of certain approximations made in the model is considered. In particular, the inertia of the agglomerates characterised by a Stokes Number from 0.001 for the smallest particles up to 10 for 10???m particles and the fluctuations of the turbulent shear stresses are important physical phenomena which are not accounted for in the model.  相似文献

One defines the notion of universal deformation quantization: given any manifold M, any Poisson structure Λ on M and any torsionfree linear connection ? on M, a universal deformation quantization associates to this data a star product on (M, Λ) given by a series of bidifferential operators whose corresponding tensors are given by universal polynomial expressions in the Poisson tensor Λ, the curvature tensor R and their covariant iterated derivatives. The transport properties of Nd-doped perovskite materials (La0.7−xNdx)Sr0.3Mn0.7Cr0.3O3 (x≤0.30) were investigated using impedance spectroscopy techniques over a wide range of temperatures and frequencies. AC conductance analyses indicate that the conduction mechanism is strongly dependent on temperature and frequency. The DC conductance plots can be described using the small polaron hopping (SPH) model, with an apparent reduction of the polaron activation energy below the Curie temperature TC. Complex impedance plots exhibit semicircular arcs described by an electrical equivalent circuit. Off-centered semicircular impedance plots show that the Nd-doped compounds obey to a non-Debye relaxation process. The conductivity of grains and grain-boundaries has been estimated. The activation energies calculated from the conductance and from time relaxation analyses are comparable. This indicates that the same type of charge carriers is responsible for both the electrical conduction and relaxation phenomena.  相似文献

In this paper, a multiobjective quadratic programming problem having fuzzy random coefficients matrix in the objective and constraints and the decision vector are fuzzy pseudorandom variables is considered. First, we show that the efficient solutions of fuzzy quadratic multiobjective programming problems are resolved into series-optimal-solutions of relative scalar fuzzy quadratic programming. Some theorems are proved to find an optimal solution of the relative scalar quadratic multiobjective programming with fuzzy coefficients, having decision vectors as fuzzy variables. At the end, numerical examples are illustrated in the support of the obtained results.  相似文献

The antifungal drugs currently available and mostly used for the treatment of candidiasis exhibit the phenomena of toxicity and increasing resistance. In this context, plant materials might represent promising sources of antifungal agents. The aim of this study is to evaluate for the first time the chemical content of the volatile fractions (VFs) along with the antifungal and anti-biofilm of Convolvulus althaeoides L. roots. The chemical composition was determined by gas chromatography coupled to a flame ionization detector and mass spectrometry. In total, 73 and 86 chemical compounds were detected in the n-hexane (VF1) and chloroform (VF2) fractions, respectively. Analysis revealed the presence of four main compounds: n-hexadecenoic acid (29.77%), 4-vinyl guaiacol (12.2%), bis(2-ethylhexyl)-adipate (9.69%) and eicosane (3.98%) in the VF extracted by hexane (VF1). n-hexadecenoic acid (34.04%), benzyl alcohol (7.86%) and linoleic acid (7.30%) were the main compounds found in the VF extracted with chloroform (VF2). The antifungal minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of the obtained fractions against Candida albicans, Candida glabrata and Candida tropicalis were determined by the micro-dilution technique and values against Candida spp. ranged from 0.87 to 3.5 mg/mL. The biofilm inhibitory concentrations (IBF) and sustained inhibition (BSI) assays on C. albicans, C. glabrata and C. tropicalis were also investigated. The VFs inhibited biofilm formation up to 0.87 mg/mL for C. albicans, up to 1.75 mg/mL against C. glabrata and up to 0.87 mg/mL against C. tropicalis. The obtained results highlighted the synergistic mechanism of the detected molecules in the prevention of candidosic biofilm formation.  相似文献
