Corrosion Behavior of Biocompatible Stainless Steels in Physiological Medium for Non‐invasive Diagnosis of Small Fiber Neuropathies Applications

A non‐invasive device based on measurements of electrochemical skin conductance can detect small fiber neuropathy, a sweat gland dysfunction implicated in several diseases. The measurement is related to sweat composition and notably to chloride concentration. To optimize the electrode material, in vitro experiments are performed in mimetic sweat solutions. This work reports on the resistance to pitting corrosion of biocompatible stainless steels (AISI 304L, AISI 430, AISI 430T, D2205) in sweat mimicking electrolyte at pH 7 with variable chloride concentration, to determine the most sensitive material to sweat composition. AISI 430 is promising due to its high sensitivity to chloride concentration variations.     

Cohen positive strongly p-summing and p-convex multilinear operators

The aim of this work is to give and study the notion of Cohen positive p-summing multilinear operators. We prove a natural analog of the Pietsch domination theorem for these classes and characterize their conjugates. As an application, we generalize a result due to Bu and Shi (J. Math. Anal. Appl. 401:174–181, 2013), and we compare this class with the class of multiple p-convex m-linear operators.

     

Cornstarch/Poly(vinyl alcohol) Biocomposite Blend Films: Mechanical Properties,Thermal Behavior,Fire Retardancy,and Antibacterial Activity

In the present study, biocomposite films of starch/poly(vinyl alcohol) (St/PVA) reinforced with delignified Grewia optiva fiber and methyl methacrylate (MMA) grafted fibers were prepared using citric acid as a plasticizer and glutaraldehyde as the cross-linker. The biocomposite films were subjected to evaluation of mechanical properties, biodegradability, and antibacterial properties. The biocomposite films were characterized by using Fourier transform-infrared (FT-IR) spectrophotometry, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA/DTA/DTG). SEM showed good adhesion between St/PVA blend matrix and fibers. The antimicrobial activity of biocomposite films against pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli was also explored. The results confirmed that the biocomposite films may be used for food packaging.

Direct estimation of 90Sr in water samples of spent fuel storage bay using partial counting rate technique

The direct estimation of ⁹⁰Sr by β counting from a mixture of other β and γ emitter is often difficult due to the efficiency variation among the β-emitters and the unknown nature of the sample. This paper deals with use of a combination of β and γ spectrometry measurements in estimating the activity of ⁹⁰Sr, pure β emitter from a mixture of other β–γ emitters in water samples. This procedure offers a simple, easy to use, rapid and a reliable method for ⁹⁰Sr estimation as an alternative to the tedious radiochemical separation procedure in this specific case.     

New 2-pyrone-based hydrazones: Synthesis,spectral characterisation,UV–visible study and evaluation of the antiradicalar activity

The synthesis of new 2-pyrone-based hydrazones has been prepared by the coupling of 6-methyl-2H-furo[3,2-c]pyran-3,4-dione with diazonium salts, obtained by diazotization of aniline derivatives. The structure of all compounds was established by spectroscopic methods, and the structure of the more stable conformer was theoretically confirmed by the potential energy profile analysis. The prepared 2-pyrone-based hydrazone dyes were acetylated and both groups of compounds showed moderate to good radical scavenging activity.
