This Letter reports on a search for narrow high-mass resonances decaying into dilepton final states. The data were recorded by the ATLAS experiment in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider and correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 1.08 (1.21) fb(-1) in the e(+)e(-) (μ(+)μ(-)) channel. No statistically significant excess above the standard model expectation is observed and upper limits are set at the 95% C.L. on the cross section times branching fraction of Z' resonances and Randall-Sundrum gravitons decaying into dileptons as a function of the resonance mass. A lower mass limit of 1.83 TeV on the sequential standard model Z' boson is set. A Randall-Sundrum graviton with coupling k/M(Pl)=0.1 is excluded at 95% C.L. for masses below 1.63 TeV.  相似文献

A search for a Higgs boson has been performed in the H→WW→?νjj channel in 1.04 fb(-1) of pp collision data at √s=7 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. A new approach is suggested to the determination of silica. Silica is converted to volatile silicon-fluoride compounds by the action of hydrofluoric acid and is quatitatively isolated by Conway's microdiffusion technique in a polypropylene cell. To promote diffusion, a sulphuric acid medium is used; ethylene glycol serves as absorbent. Quantities of 20-70 μ SiO2 per 0.5 ml were tested, with quantitative recovery. The silica was determined spectrophotometrically by the molybdenum blue method.  相似文献

The study of sum and product problems in finite fields motivates the investigation of additive structures in multiplicative subgroups of such fields. A simple known fact is that any multiplicative subgroup of size at least q 3/4 in the finite field F q must contain an additive relation x + y = z. Our main result is that there are infinitely many examples of sum-free multiplicative subgroups of size Ω(p 1/3) in prime fields F p . More complicated additive relations are studied as well. One representative result is the fact that the elements of any multiplicative subgroup H of size at least q 3/4+o(1) of F q can be arranged in a cyclic permutation so that the sum of any pair of consecutive elements in the permutation belongs to H. The proofs combine combinatorial techniques based on the spectral properties of Cayley sum-graphs with tools from algebraic and analytic number theory.  相似文献

The understanding of simple laminar flow in tubes has often been used to interpret the more complicated flow in porous media. A study of the motion of two immiscible liquids in closed tubes with relatively large diameter (> 0.3 cm i.d), was conducted in order to examine the influence of wetting and nonwetting liquids on the flow behavior. The results indicate that the wetting properties of the fluids with regard to the tube wall have a major efffect on the formation and motion of long bubbles. A physically based model was used to predict the velocity and the conditions for no motion of bubbles and drops in tubes. These results were used to interpret the nature of oil and water flow in porous media. Experiments in which the wetting liquid was displaced by the nonwetting, or vice versa, were conducted by injecting the displacing liquid at a constant flux at the center of a two-dimensional chamber saturated with the displaced liquid. The influence of wetting-nonwetting characteristics on the quantity of liquid displaced, the shape of the interface between the two liquids, and the interpretation of the no motion radius in a closed tube to the case of a porous medium are discussed. It would appear that the no motion radius gives a good indication of the minimum width of a nonwetting penetrating finger and the maximum width of nonwetting ganglia left by drainage.  相似文献

An upper bound for the path-connectivity of nq(q<1) separable graphs [6] is shown to exist.If the edge-connectivity of a graph is KE then between any two pairs of vertices and for every t?KE there exists a t?t′?t+1 such that there are t′ paths between the first pair and KE?t′ between the second pair. Monte Carlo and molecular dynamics simulations are performed to study fluid adsorption of a two component fluid in slit pores of nanoscopic dimensions. The slit pores are immersed in a binary fluid bath, which is comprised of spherical molecules having a size ratio of 1.43, at constant temperature and composition. Pore width is varied to determine how the heat capacity and self-diffusion coefficient are linked to the composition and structure of the adsorbed fluid. In pores where the fluid structure is most pronounced, we observe: perfect (or near perfect) exclusion of one component by the other component, a heat capacity that rapidly oscillates and is of greater magnitude than in the fluid bath, and self-diffusion coefficients on the order of 10–8 cm2/s. The behavior of the heat capacity and diffusion coefficients appears to arise from a near solid-like layering of OMCTS that occurs at certain favorable pore widths.  相似文献
