Lipscomb’s L(A) Space Fractalized in l p (A)

In this paper, by using some of our new results concerning the shift space for an infinite IFS (see A. Mihail and R. Miculescu, The shift space for an infinite iterated function system, Math. Rep. Bucur. 11 (2009), 21?C32), we show that, for an infinite set A, the embedded version of the Lipscomb space L(A) in l ^p (A), ${p \in [1,\infty)}$ , with the metric induced from l ^p (A), denoted by ${\omega_p^A}$ , is the attractor of an infinite iterated function system comprising affine transformations of l ^p (A). In this way we provide a generalization of the positive answer that we gave to an open problem of J.C. Perry (see Lipscomb??s universal space is the attractor of an infinite iterated function system, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 124 (1996), 2479?C2489) in one of our previous works (see R. Miculescu and A. Mihail, Lipscomb space ?? ^A is the attractor of an infinite IFS containing affine transformations of l ²(A), Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 136 (2008), 587?C592). Moreover, as a byproduct, we provide a generalization of Corollary 15 from Perry??s paper by proving that ${\omega_p^A}$ is a closed subset of l ^p (A).     

W(bipy)(CN)6]-: a suitable metalloligand in the design of heterotrimetallic complexes. The first Cu(II)Ln(III)W(V) trinuclear complexes

The first 3d-4f-5d heterotrimetallic complexes using [W(V)(bipy)(CN)(6)](-) as a metalloligand were synthesized (bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine). The structural and magnetic properties of three [Cu(II)Ln(III)W(V)] complexes (Ln = Gd, Ho, Tb) are discussed.     

On the spectral norm of algebraic numbers

In this paper we continue to study the spectral norms and their completions ([4]) in the case of the algebraic closure $ \overline {\mathbb Q} $ of ? in ?. Let $ \widetilde{\overline{\mathbb{Q}}} $ be the completion of $ \overline {\mathbb Q} $ relative to the spectral norm. We prove that $ \widetilde{\overline{\mathbb{Q}}} $ can be identified with the R‐subalgebra of all symmetric functions of C(G), where C(G) denotes the ?‐Banach algebra of all continuous functions defined on the absolute Galois group G = Gal$ {\overline {\mathbb Q}} / {\mathbb Q} $. We prove that any compact, closed to conjugation subset of ? is the pseudo‐orbit of a suitable element of $ \widetilde{\overline{\mathbb{Q}}} $. We also prove that the topological closure of any algebraic number field in $ \widetilde{\overline{\mathbb{Q}}} $ is of the form $\widetilde{\mathbb{Q}[x]}$ with x in $ \widetilde{\overline{\mathbb{Q}}} $.     

Visual software analytics for the build optimization of large-scale software systems

Visual analytics is the science of analytical reasoning facilitated by interactive visual interfaces. In this paper, we present an adaptation of the visual analytics framework to the context of software understanding for maintenance. We discuss the similarities and differences of the general visual analytics context with the software maintenance context, and present in detail an instance of a visual software analytics application for the build optimization of large-scale code bases. Our application combines and adapts several data mining and information visualization techniques in answering several questions that help developers in assessing and reducing the build cost of such code bases by means of user-driven, interactive analysis techniques.     

Synthesis,Characterisation, and in vitro Cytotoxic Activity of Dithiocarbamato Glycoconjugate Half-Sandwich Ruthenium and Osmium Complexes

The synthesis by transmetallation and in-depth characterisation by IR spectroscopy of five half-sandwich ruthenium and osmium dithiocarbamato isonipecotamide glycoconjugate complexes are presented herein. The evaluation of their in vitro cytotoxicity and of the zinc precursors’ in vitro cytotoxicity towards ovarian cancer (A2780 and A2780cisR) and normal prostate (PNT2) cells is reported. While the cytotoxicity of the compounds is rather limited, some selectivity is observed.     

Electrochemical Behaviour and Rapid Determination of L‐Dopa at Electrochemically Pretreated Screen Printed Carbon Electrode

A simple and rapid voltammetric method based on a disposable electrochemically pretreated screen‐printed carbon electrode is proposed for the determination of L ‐dopa. Under optimum differential pulse voltammetry conditions a limit of detection of 3.6×10^?7 M for L ‐dopa was obtained. The method was successfully applied to the determination of L ‐dopa in a commercial pharmaceutical formulation.
