Shewanella oneidensis MR‐1 gains energy by extracellular electron transfer to solid surfaces. They employ c‐type cytochromes in two Mtr transmembrane complexes, forming a multiheme wire for electron transport across the cellular outer membrane. We investigated electron‐ and hole‐transfer mechanisms in the external terminal of the two complexes, MtrC and MtrF. Comparison of computed redox potentials with previous voltammetry experiments in distinct environments (isolated and electrode‐bound conditions of PFV or in vivo) suggests that these systems function in different regimes depending on the environment. Analysis of redox potential shifts in different regimes indicates strong coupling between the hemes via an interplay between direct Coulomb and indirect interactions through local structural reorganization. The latter results in the screening of Coulomb interactions and explains poor correlation of the strength of the heme‐to‐heme interactions with the distance between the hemes. 相似文献

The antioxidant and cytotoxic activities of petroleum ether and methanol extracts, fatty acids and methyl esters from leaves of Smilax brasiliensis were evaluated, and the composition of the extracts was determined. Palmitic, linoleic and linolenic acids were major components of the extracts. For antioxidant activity, all samples exhibited IC50 values lower than BHT (2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol). The extracts, fatty acids and methyl esters from S. brasiliensis presented no toxicity to larvae of the brine shrimp, Artemia salina. Among the purified substances, only methyl linolenate showed toxicity (LD50 = 21.47 μg/mL). This study showed, for the first time, the composition of petroleum ether and methanol extracts from S. brasiliensis leaves, as well as the antioxidant and cytotoxic activities of extracts, fatty acids and methyl esters. 相似文献

A route for 3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,1-dimethylurea (diuron) immobilization on silica gel was established after reacting at the first stage the precursor silylant agent 3-trimethoxysilylpropylamine to the support. The pesticide was covalently bonded to available amine groups of the precursor, giving 1.03 mmol of amine per gram of silica. Infrared, (13)C, and (29)Si NMR spectra are in agreement with the proposed reaction between nitrogen of the amine group of the previously anchored silica to carbon on the para-position of the aromatic ring of the pesticide. The immobilization is clearly affected by the presence or absence of disprotonating agent, to give 12.50 and 68.40% reaction yield, respectively; these results were confirmed through elemental analysis. A gas turbine power plant for CO2 capture, based on oxygen-permeable membranes with mixed ionic-electronic conductivity, was analysed with respect to long-term stability by means of numerical simulation. Due to the attractive transport and physicochemical properties of mixed-conducting La2NiO4+δ, this nickelate was selected as a prototype membrane material for this application. Experiments showed very slow degradation of La2NiO4+δ membranes at oxygen chemical potentials close to atmospheric conditions, which are associated with kinetic demixing and other microstructure-related factors. Interaction with CO2 in the intermediate temperature range also leads to lower oxygen permeation, whilst increasing oxygen pressure may cause partial phase decomposition and microstructural changes, thus again limiting the range of possible operation conditions. The relevant operational constraints were included in a detailed membrane-based gas turbine power plant model. The membrane performance degradation with time was approximated by a linear function with average rate of 3.3% per 1,000 operation hours. Furthermore, performance deterioration of the gas turbine compressor and turbine were also considered. Simulations revealed that the power plant is substantially affected by degradation of the ceramic membranes and turbomachinery components. The already rather small operating window was further narrowed when compared with a conventional gas turbine power plant. Two different designs of the membrane-based power plant were analysed: (1) with and (2) without additional combustors (afterburners) between the membrane reactor and the gas turbine. Afterburners increase thermal efficiency as well as power output, but also lead to non-negligible CO2 emissions. In order to have a frame of comparison, results for a conventional gas turbine power plant with degradation of turbomachinery components are also presented. Simulations representing changes in ambient temperature and fuel composition as well as failure incidents were executed to analyse the susceptibility of the gas turbine power plant to external and internal changes. 相似文献

The use of microemulsion for determination of sodium and potassium in biodiesel by flame atomic absorption spectrometry 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
A new method for F AAS determination of sodium and potassium in biodiesel using water-in-oil microemulsion as sample preparation is proposed. The method was investigated for biodiesel produced from different sources, as soybean, castor and sunflower oil and animal fat and was also applied for vegetable oils. The optimized condition for microemulsion formation was 57.6% (w/w) of n-pentanol, 20% (w/w) of biodiesel or vegetable oil, 14.4% (w/w) of Triton X-100 and 8% (w/w) of water (aqueous standard of KCl or NaCl in/or diluted HNO3). The optimized instrumental parameters were: aspiration rate of 2 mL min−1 and the flame composition of 0.131 of C2H2/air ratio. For comparison purpose, the determination of sodium and potassium were also carried out according to European norms (EN 14108 and EN 14109, respectively). These norms are applied for determination of sodium and potassium in fatty acid methylic ester samples and consist in the sample dilution using organic solvent and determination by F AAS. The stability of microemulsified aqueous standards and samples was investigated and it was found to be stable for at least 3 days while the organic standard diluted with xylene showed a decrease around of 15% in the analytical signal in 1 h. The limits of detection were 0.1 μg g−1 and 0.06 μg g−1 and the obtained characteristic concentrations were 25 μg L−1 and 28 μg L−1 for sodium and potassium, respectively. The proposed method presented two times better limits of detection and better precision (0.4–1.0%) when compared with the dilution technique (1.5–4.5%). The accuracy of the method was evaluated through recovery tests and comparison with the results obtained by dilution technique. The recoveries ranged from 95% to 115% for biodiesel and 90% to 115% for vegetable oil samples. Comparison between the results obtained for biodiesel by both methods showed no significant differences at the 95% confidence level according to a Student's t-test. This study shows that the proposed method based on microemulsion as sample preparation can be applied as an efficient alternative for sodium and potassium determination in biodiesel samples. 相似文献

The effect of the calcination procedure on the decomposition of the [Pt(NH3)4]2+ complex in a cesium-containing NaX zeolite was studied by thermal decomposition accompanied by mass spectrometry and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, as well as electron paramagnetic resonance and infrared spectroscopy. The decomposition of the complex took place in two steps. Under oxygen, the [Pt(NH3)4]2+ complex was first converted into the [Pt(NH3)2]2+ complex in the first step, with predominant nitrogen release. In the second step, corresponding to the decomposition of the remaining two amine ligands, NO was also formed and adsorbed. Oxygen paramagnetic species were also observed.
