Six Ru2(6+) derivatives of the form Ru2(L)4(C[triple bond]CC6H5)(2), where L = 2-Fap, 2,3-F(2)ap, 2,4-F(2)ap, 2,5-F(2)ap, 3,4-F(2)ap, or 2,4,6-F(3)ap, are synthesized and characterized as to their electrochemical, spectroscopic, and/or structural properties. These compounds are synthesized from a reaction between LiC[triple bond]CC6H5 and Ru2(L)4Cl. Two of the investigated complexes exist in a (4,0) isomeric form while four adopt a (3,1) geometric conformation. These two series of geometric isomers are compared with previously characterized (4,0) Ru2(ap)4(C[triple bond]CC6H5)(2), (4,0) Ru2(F5ap)4(C[triple bond]CC6H5)(2), and (3,1) Ru2(F5ap)4(C[triple bond]CC6H5)(2). The overall data on the nine compounds thus provide an opportunity to systematically examine how the electrochemical and structural properties of these Ru2(6+) complexes vary with respect to isomer type and electronic properties of the bridging ligands.  相似文献

A new and direct approach to verify surface heterogeneity as the microscopic origin of contact-angle hysteresis is demonstrated. IR-visible sum-frequency-generation spectroscopy (SFG) was used to selectively probe the molecules at the interface of an alkyl-side-chain polymer [poly(vinyl n-octadecyl carbamate-co-vinyl acetate)] with water. The spectra indicate that in contact with water, the polymer surface is heterogeneous (having areas of differing surface energies). This evidence of surface heterogeneity supports the hysteresis observed in the advancing and receding contact angles of the polymer surface with water. The same measurements made for the chemically and structurally similar surface of an octadecyltrichlorosilane self-assembled monolayer indicates a homogeneous surface at the water interface. In this case, contact-angle hysteresis measurements implicate surface roughness as the cause of hysteresis. Atomic force microscopy measurements of roughness for these surfaces further support our conclusions. The polymer-water interface was probed using SFG at above-ambient temperatures, and an order-to-disorder transition (ODT) of alkyl side chains at the interface was observed, which closely follows the melting of crystalline side chains in the bulk. This transition explains the increased wettability of the polymer, by water, when the temperature is raised above the bulk melting temperature. Furthermore, the irreversibility of this ODT suggests that the disordered polymer-water interface is the thermodynamic equilibrium state, whereas the before-heating structure of this interface is a kinetically hindered metastable state.  相似文献

In the past the formyloxyl radical, HC(O)O˙, had only been rarely experimentally observed, and those studies were theoretical-spectroscopic in the context of electronic structure. The absence of a convenient method for the preparation of the formyloxyl radical has precluded investigations into its reactivity towards organic substrates. Very recently, we discovered that HC(O)O˙ is formed in the anodic electrochemical oxidation of formic acid/lithium formate. Using a [CoIIIW12O40]5− polyanion catalyst, this led to the formation of phenyl formate from benzene. Here, we present our studies into the reactivity of electrochemically in situ generated HC(O)O˙ with organic substrates. Reactions with benzene and a selection of substituted derivatives showed that HC(O)O˙ is mildly electrophilic according to both experimentally and computationally derived Hammett linear free energy relationships. The reactions of HC(O)O˙ with terminal alkenes significantly favor anti-Markovnikov oxidations yielding the corresponding aldehyde as the major product as well as further oxidation products. Analysis of plausible reaction pathways using 1-hexene as a representative substrate favored the likelihood of hydrogen abstraction from the allylic C–H bond forming a hexallyl radical followed by strongly preferred further attack of a second HC(O)O˙ radical at the C1 position. Further oxidation products are surmised to be mostly a result of two consecutive addition reactions of HC(O)O˙ to the C Created by potrace 1.16, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2019 C double bond. An outer-sphere electron transfer between the formyloxyl radical donor and the [CoIIIW12O40]5− polyanion acceptor forming a donor–acceptor [D+–A] complex is proposed to induce the observed anti-Markovnikov selectivity. Finally, the overall reactivity of HC(O)O˙ towards hydrogen abstraction was evaluated using additional substrates. Alkanes were only slightly reactive, while the reactions of alkylarenes showed that aromatic substitution on the ring competes with C–H bond activation at the benzylic position. C–H bonds with bond dissociation energies (BDE) ≤ 85 kcal mol−1 are easily attacked by HC(O)O˙ and reactivity appears to be significant for C–H bonds with a BDE of up to 90 kcal mol−1. In summary, this research identifies the reactivity of HC(O)O˙ towards radical electrophilic substitution of arenes, anti-Markovnikov type oxidation of terminal alkenes, and indirectly defines the activity of HC(O)O˙ towards C–H bond activation.

It has been previously shown that a metabolite of piroxicam but not piroxicam itself causes phototoxicity to cells in vitro after exposure to UVA (320–400 nm) radiation. The phototoxicity mechanism for this metabolite, 2-methyl-4-oxo-2H-l,2-benzothiazine-l,l-dioxide (Compound I), was investigated. In vitro phototoxicity to human mononuclear cells was assayed using 0.5 m M Compound I and UVA radiation. The UVA fluence required for phototoxicity of Compound I was lower by a factor of 2-3 in D2O buffer compared to H2O buffer. Superoxide dismutase and mannitol, which remove O2- and OH", respectively, do not decrease the phototoxicity. The photodecomposition of Compound I was inhibited by sodium azide, enhanced by human serum albumin and unaffected by mannitol. Stable photoproducts of Compound I were not toxic to the cells. The quantum yield of singlet oxygen based on its emission at 1270 nm was 0.19 and 0.35 for Compound I and s2 ± 10-3 and 10-2 for piroxicam in D2O and C6H6, respectively. While the extremely low quantum yield for singlet oxygen from piroxicam appears to account for its lack of phototoxicity, the phototoxicity mechanism for its metabolite, Compound I, most likely does involve singlet oxygen.  相似文献

The application of a high potential at the repeller electrode, positioned opposite to the sampling cone in order to increase the sampling efficiency, can induce fragmentation in thermospray mass Spectrometry. Until now, this fragmentation has been attributed to collision-induced dissociation. As a result of studies on the changes in the reagent gas composition in the thermospray buffer ionization mode as a function of the repeller potential in the positive-ion mode, it appears that three different processes are occurring. At low repeller potentials, the thermospray mass spectra of the eluent are determined by the proton affinities and the concentrations of the various solvent constituents, and the stabilities of the formed cluster ions under the ion source conditions. With an increase in the repeller potential, collision-induced dissociation of the background ions starts to occur. When the kinetic energy of the ions and cluster ions becomes high enough, endothermic proton transfer and solvent-switching reaction pathways are opened. For the relatively volatile analytes studied, e.g. aniline, acetophenone, benzaldehyde and benzoic acid, similar effects are observed.  相似文献

The site of animation for 1-alkyl-3-carbamoylpyridinium chlorides in liquid ammonia is dependent on the identity of the 1-alkyl substituent. For the methyl, ethyl and n-propyl derivatives exclusively 6-adducts are found. Adduct formation takes place at C-6 and C-4, when the 1-substituent is an i-propyl or t-butyl group. The adduct ratio for the latter compounds is determined by the size of the substituent. 1-Aryl derivatives exhibit amination at C-2 and C-6 and the adduct ratios are dependent on the temperature. When the aryl substituent is a 2,4,6-trimethylphenyl group the 4-adduct is detected as well. A comparison is made between the sites of oxidation of these compounds by rabbit liver aldehyde oxidase and the covalent amination pattern in liquid ammonia. It is shown that covalent animation as a “model” for the enzymic activity of aldehyde oxide1 is particularly valuable in cases where the enzyme reaction is controlled by steric factors.  相似文献

Today, the deposition of coated conductors on a variety of substrates is often performed using a vacuum or low pressure technique. However, obtaining uninterrupted deposition at high speed, increasing flexibility in composition and attaining independence of geometric constraints of the substrates are areas in which vacuum techniques will need sustained development in order to answer industrial demands. The development of the next generation of deposition methods, based on deposition under atmospheric environment and from aqueous precursor solutions is a real challenge. This work describes the deposition of thin NdBa2Cu3O7-y layers on SrTiO3 single crystals based on a new sol-gel dip coating process using aqueous precursor solutions. Two inorganic aqueous sol-gel routes were investigated, a metal nitrate–citric acid based and a metal acetate–triethanol amine based solution. Using detailed thermal analysis, it is shown that adjusting the different parameters during thermal treatment can be used to control the morphology of the films. Also special attention is given to the microstructure of the thin film because of its relevance to the superconducting transport properties of the coated conductor system.  相似文献

Conductivity measurements of glutaric acid and disodium glutarate in dilute aqueous solutions were performed in the 288.15 to 323.15 K temperature range. The limiting equivalent conductances of glutarate anions, λ o(HGlut,T) and λ o(1/2Glut2−,T), and the dissociation constants of glutaric acid, K 1(T) and K 2(T), were derived by the use of the Onsager and the Quint and Viallard conductivity equations. The applied molecular model was successfully confirmed by analyzing the conductivities of sodium hydrogen glutarate at 298.15 K.  相似文献
