This paper describes the use of dendritic polyglycerol as a new high-loading polymeric support. The soluble polyether skeleton allows the parallel synthesis of small libraries on a large scale (1-5 mmol). Purification of polymer-bound products is easily achieved by a parallel dialysis apparatus, which was developed to separate up to 12 reaction mixtures simultaneously. The terminal 1,2-diol groups of polyglycerol (loading capacity: 4.1 mmol diol/g) can be directly coupled with carbonyl compounds without additional linker groups. At the same time the polyglycerol support acts as a polymeric ketal protecting group. The coupling of the carbonyl compounds occurs in high yields, and effective loading capacities of up to 3.5 mmol of ketone/g can be reached. The obtained polymeric acetals can easily be characterized by standard analytical techniques, such as NMR, IR, UV, and SEC. The versatility of this new polymeric support for solution-phase organic synthesis is demonstrated by two efficient polymer-supported syntheses: nucleophilic substitutions of gamma-chloroketones with amines and Suzuki-coupling on p-bromobenzaldehyde. The acid-catalyzed acetal cleavage with a solid-phase acidic ion-exchange resin in methanol demonstrates the orthogonal use of these soluble polymeric supports with conventional solid-phase reagents. Cleavage of products occurs in high yields, and almost complete recovery (>95%) of the polyglycerol support has been demonstrated after phase separation or ultrafiltration. 相似文献

A new physical model based on mesoscale self-assembly is developed to simulate indentation fracture in crystalline materials. Millimeter-scale hexagonal objects exhibiting atom-like potential functions were designed and allowed to self-assemble into two-dimensional (2D) aggregates at the interface between water and perfluorodecalin. Indentation experiments were performed on these aggregates, and the stresses and strains involved in these processes were evaluated. The stress field in the aggregates was analyzed theoretically using the 2D elastic Hertz solution. Comparison of the experimental results with theoretical analysis revealed that fracture develops in regions subjected to high shear stress and some, albeit low, tensile stress. The potential for the broader application of the model is illustrated using indentation of assemblies with point defects and adatoms introduced at predetermined locations, and using a two-phase aggregate simulating a compliant film on a stiff substrate. 相似文献

Recent images of electron flow through a two-dimensional electron gas device show branching behavior that is reproduced in numerical simulations of motion in a correlated random potential [M. A. Topinka, Nature 410, 183 (2001)]]. We show how such branching arises from caustics in the classical flow and find a simple scaling behavior of the branching under variation of the random potential strength. We report a new measurement of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa parameter Vub made with a sample of 9.7 x 10(6) BB- events collected with the CLEO II detector. Using heavy quark theory, we combine the observed yield of leptons from semileptonic B decay in the end-point momentum interval 2.2-2.6 GeV/c with recent CLEO II data on B-->X(s)gamma to find Vub = (4.08+/-0.34+/-0.44+/-0.16+/-0.24)x10(-3), where the first two uncertainties are experimental and the last two are from theory. 相似文献

A novel class of nonlinear optical processes is described in which radiation at the nth harmonic is generated through the use of a (2n+1)-order nonlinearity. Utilizing an odd-order nonlinearity, this process allows for the generation and amplification of both odd- and even-order harmonics in isotropic materials. Additionally, this process can always be phase matched in normal-dispersion materials without the use of birefringence.
