Synthesis of 4-Hydroxy- and 4-Amino-2-Methyl-3-(2-Methylindol-3-Yl)methylquinolines and Their 6- and 8-Substituted Derivatives

A method has been developed for the synthesis of substituted 4-hydroxy- and 4-amino-2-methyl-3-(2-methylindol-3-yl)methylquinolines by treating the corresponding 4-hydroxy(chloro)-2-methyl-3-(3-oxobutyl)quinolines with phenylhydrazine hydrochloride. It was found that nucleophilic substitution occurred in the case of the 4-chloroquinolines together with subsequent rearrangement to give the 4-amino derivatives. The thiosemicarbazones of the corresponding 4-hydroxy-2-methyl-3-(3-oxobutyl)quinolines were also obtained.__________Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 4, pp. 554–557, April, 2005.     

Synthesis and Complexing Properties of Phosphorus-Substituted Pyridine-2-Carboxylic Acid Anilides

Abstract

Novel phosphorus-containing ligands have been synthesized by the condensation of 2-(thio)phosphorylated anilines with 2,6-dichloro- and 4-chloropyridine-2-carbonyl chlorides in the presence of Et₃N and unsubstituted pyridine-2-carboxylic acid using P(OPh)₃ as a coupling agent. The compounds derived readily form complexes with a range of transition metals (M=Re(I), Pd(II), and Cu(II)), serving as bi- or tridentate monoanionic ligands. The composition and structure of the resulting metallocycles depend both on the presence/amount of the Cl atoms in the pyridine ring and on the nature of the donor atom X in the P=X moiety. The novel compounds were characterized by multinuclear NMR and IR spectroscopy as well as X-ray crystallography.     

Synthesis and some transformations of functionally-substituted coumarins and 2-thioxo-2H-chromenes

On the greedy algorithm by the Haar system

The paper investigates the uniform and almost everywhere convergence of the greedy algorithm by the Haar system. Necessary and sufficient conditions for norming the functions of Haar system are obtained, which guarantee the uniformconvergence for functions from C[0, 1] and almost everywhere convergence for functions from L ¹[0, 1].     

On the use of isotopic species in determing the parameters of intensity theory in the vibrational spectra of polyatomic molecules

The problem of determining the true sign combinations of the derivatives of dipole moment and polarizability of molecules in the normal coordinates was investigated. It was shown that the use of spectral data on isotopic species allows us to reduce the number of possible sign combinations of these derivatives to two.
