Ion chromatography (IC) has been a powerful tool for measuring ionic species in environmental samples such as tap, river and drain waters. Suppressor modules (membrane and disposable column types) have been used for reducing the background of a baseline. A new type of suppressor device, which has a suppressor resin and switching valve was developed. Fresh ionic resin is introduced into a groove for each analysis to perform the suppression of the working eluent. The eluent composition for obtaining higher sensitivity and better resolutions among ionic species and carbonate ion was also investigated. Although carbonate buffers are used for ion separation in general, the separation of carbonate ion from other ions was not achieved. A borate eluent resulted in good resolutions and higher sensitivity. A new column was also developed for obtaining higher column efficiency and resolution. The optimization of anion separation using a new IC system (IC-2001) that consists of a new suppressor device, an anion-exchange column (TSKgel SuperIC-Anion, 150x4.6 mm), an autosampler, a conductivity cell and a pump in a compact module is described.  相似文献

Water-soluble, relatively light-stable, chiral and achiral silver(I) complexes [[Ag(2)(ca)(2)]](n) and [[Ag(2)(ca)(2)(Hca)(2)]](n)(R- and S-Hca =(1R,4S)- and (1S,4R)-4,7,7-trimethyl-3-oxo-2-oxabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane-1-carboxylic acid, respectively) prepared from the reaction of Ag(2)O with chiral and racemic Hca in 1:2 and 1:4 molar ratios were characterized by elemental analysis, TG/DTA, FTIR, and solution ((1)H, (13)C and (109)Ag) and solid-state ((13)C) NMR spectroscopy. Crystallography revealed that unique 2(1) helical polymer and zigzag structures were formed on self-assembly of the dimeric units in the crystals of [[Ag(2)(S-ca)(2)]](n) and three [[Ag(2)(ca)(2)(Hca)(2)]](n). In the crystal of [[Ag(2)(S-ca)(2)]](n) two 2(1) helices and a loop were observed in the stair-like polymer structure, whereas zigzag and a loop were seen in the crystals of three [[Ag(2)(ca)(2)(Hca)(2)]](n). Carbon NMR spectra in the solid state and in D(2)O indicated that these polymeric structures were loosely bound and fast ligand-exchange reactions took place in aqueous solution. The complexes, [[Ag(2)(ca)(2)]](n) and [[Ag(2)(ca)(2)(Hca)(2)]](n), showed a wide spectrum of effective antimicrobial activity as anticipated for weak silver(i)-O bonding complexes. Similar antimicrobial activity of [[Ag(2)(ca)(2)]](n) and [[Ag(2)(ca)(2)(Hca)(2)]](n) against selected microorganisms suggested that ligand exchangeability played an important role as well as the coordination geometry of the silver(i) ion.  相似文献

Bioactive organic-inorganic hybrids were synthesized through sol-gel processing starting from -methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane. NMR-spectroscopic studies showed the presence of silanol groups (Si–OH) and Si–O–Si bonds. In vitro tests of the hybrids for bioactivity with a simulated body fluid (Kokubo solution) indicated that only calcium-containing hybrids could form apatite on their surfaces. Thus the presence of calcium ions was no less important to deposit apatite than the formation of silanol groups or Si–O–Si bonds.  相似文献

2-Hydroxypropyl-??-cyclodextrin (HP-??-CyD) includes all-trans retinoic acid (RA), covering the double-bond area of RA with substituted hydroxypropyl groups on CyD ring, as proved by the nuclear Overhauser effect (NOE) between methylene protons on the hydroxypropyl groups and the proton on RA. The formation of an inclusion complex results in hydrophilicity and stability. The effect of RA/HP-??-CyD and that of RA without HP-??-CyD on wrinkle scores and skin elasticity during skin treatment were identical, and the cutaneous stimulus was reduced comparing with RA. The results indicated that the RA/HP-??-CyD complex should help to realize new approaches in skin rejuvenation therapy.  相似文献

On January 21, 2003, an explosion occurred while ion exchange resin (IER) was being used to separate impurities from uranium solution. To clarify the cause of the accident and go/no-go criteria of the explosion, elemental analysis of the IER, DSC analysis, and SIKAREX analysis (a screening tool for runaway reactions) were performed. Finally, experiments on the same scale as the accident were conducted in an explosion chamber. When HClO4 was added to IER-NO3, the IER violently exploded without any heating nor metal ions such as uranium. It was confirmed that the accident was caused by an incorrect procedure in the chemical process. From the standpoint of explosion safety, IER-NO3 in particular should be kept away from perchloric acid in the laboratory.  相似文献

Epstein and Penner give a canonical method of decomposing a cusped hyperbolic manifold into ideal polyhedra. The decomposition depends on arbitrarily specified weights for the cusps. From the construction, it is rather obvious that there appear at most a finite number of decompositions if the given weights are slightly changed. However, since the space of weights is not compact, it is not clear whether the total number of such decompositions is finite. In this paper we prove that the number of polyhedral decompositions of a cusped hyperbolic manifold obtained by the Epstein-Penner's method is finite.

A novel bioethanol separation process was proposed in this study employing molecular sieving carbon (MSC) as an adsorbent, whose pore diameter is close to molecular size of ethanol. In the proposed process, fermentation broth is first introduced to the adsorption bed packed with MSC. In this step, ethanol is selectively adsorbed onto MSC, with highly enriching ethanol in the micropore of MSC. Subsequently, the concentrated ethanol is desorbed from MSC to gaseous phase, resulting in further purification of ethanol owing to a considerable difference in desorption rate between water and ethanol; Because of molecular sieving effect of MSC, the desorption rate of ethanol is much smaller than that of water. To establish this process, adsorption equilibrium and kinetics of ethanol on various MSCs were investigated in aqueous phase as the first step. Also, desorption kinetics of ethanol and water in gaseous phase were investigated. As a result, it was suggested that highly concentrated ethanol could be obtained with high recovery ratio through these simple operations, meaning the proposed process is quite promising.  相似文献

Metal electrodes with micron scale width enable the heating of less than a dozen cells in a confluent layer at predictable temperatures up to 85 °C with an accuracy of ±2 °C. Those performances were obtained by a preliminary robust temperature calibration based on biotin-rhodamine fluorescence and by controlling the temperature map on the substrate through thermal modeling. The temperature accuracy was proved by inducing the expression of heat shock proteins (HSP) in a few NIH-3T3 cells through a confined and precise temperature rise. Our device is therefore effective to locally induce a heat shock response with almost single-cell resolution. Furthermore, we show that cells heated at a higher temperature than the one of heat shock remain alive without producing HSP. Electrode deposition being one of the most common engineering processes, the fabrication of electrode arrays with a simple control circuit is clearly within reach for parallel testing. This should enable the study of several key mechanisms such as cell heat shock, death or signaling. In nanomedicine, controlled drug release by external stimuli such as for example temperature has attracted much attention. Our device could allow fast and efficient testing of thermoactivable drug delivery systems.  相似文献
