Parent–progeny isotope relationships provide critical signatures in forensic efforts designed to determine the history of interdicted nuclear materials. Unfortunately, there is substantial need for new standards and QC strategies yielding confidence in such chronometric measurements. Here, we investigate the initial isolation of progeny uranium in certified reference material-126a for use as a precision comparator in a thermal ionization mass spectrometry-based QC strategy seeking to provide improved uncertainties in isotopic and chronometric measurements for nuclear materials containing elevated U-236, such as plutonium. Application to real-world Pu either preserved or improved upon uncertainties associated with key parent–daughter ratios and further constrained associated chronometric windows.

The 2‐propynyl group in the title compound, C17H22O10, adopts an exoanomeric conformation, with the acetylenic group gauche with respect to position C1. Comparison of 13C NMR chemical shifts from solution and the solid state suggest that the acetylenic group also adopts a conformation anti to C1 in solution. The pyranose ring adopts a 4C1 conformation. Of the three secondary O‐acetyl groups, that on position O4, flanked by two equatorial groups, adopts a syn conformation, in agreement with recent generalizations [González‐Outeiriño, Nasser & Anderson (2005). J. Org. Chem. 70 , 2486–2493]. The acetyl group on position O3 adopts a gauche conformation, also in agreement with the recent generalizations, but that on position O2 adopts a syn conformation, not in agreement with the recent generalizations.  相似文献

Light-front Hamiltonian theory, derived from the quantization of the QCD Lagrangian at fixed light-front time x + = x 0 + x 3, provides a rigorous frame-independent framework for solving nonperturbative QCD. The eigenvalues of the light-front QCD Hamiltonian H LF predict the hadronic mass spectrum, and the corresponding eigensolutions provide the light-front wavefunctions which describe hadron structure, providing a direct connection to the QCD Lagrangian. In the semiclassical approximation the valence Fock-state wavefunctions of the light-front QCD Hamiltonian satisfy a single-variable relativistic equation of motion, analogous to the nonrelativistic radial Schrödinger equation, with an effective confining potential U which systematically incorporates the effects of higher quark and gluon Fock states. Remarkably, the potential U has a unique form of a harmonic oscillator potential if one requires that the chiral QCD action remains conformally invariant. A mass gap and the color confinement scale also arises when one extends the formalism of de Alfaro, Fubini and Furlan to light-front Hamiltonian theory. In the case of mesons, the valence Fock-state wavefunctions of H LF for zero quark mass satisfy a single-variable relativistic equation of motion in the invariant variable \({\zeta^2=b^2_\perp x(1-x)}\) , which is conjugate to the invariant mass squared \({{M^2_{q\bar q}}}\) . The result is a nonperturbative relativistic light-front quantum mechanical wave equation which incorporates color confinement and other essential spectroscopic and dynamical features of hadron physics, including a massless pion for zero quark mass and linear Regge trajectories \({M^2(n, L, S) = 4\kappa^2( n+L +S/2)}\) with the same slope in the radial quantum number n and orbital angular momentum L. Only one mass parameter \({\kappa}\) appears. The corresponding light-front Dirac equation provides a dynamical and spectroscopic model of nucleons. The same light-front equations arise from the holographic mapping of the soft-wall model modification of AdS5 space with a unique dilaton profile to QCD (3 + 1) at fixed light-front time. Light-front holography thus provides a precise relation between the bound-state amplitudes in the fifth dimension of AdS space and the boost-invariant light-front wavefunctions describing the internal structure of hadrons in physical space-time. We also discuss the implications of the underlying conformal template of QCD for renormalization scale-setting and the implications of light-front quantization for the value of the cosmological constant.  相似文献

Resonant-infrared matrix-assisted pulsed laser evaporation (RIR-MAPLE) is a promising deposition technology for the fabrication of conjugated polymer-based optoelectronic devices for two primary reasons: (i) the ability to control film morphology, and (ii) the ability to deposit multi-layered heterostructures. This article reviews a variation of RIR-MAPLE that uses emulsified targets of organic solvents and water such that the incident laser wavelength (Er:YAG at 2.9 μm) is resonant with hydroxyl (O–H) bonds in the host matrix, which are absent from the guest material. The novelty of the approach lies in the fact that while most polymers of interest and many compatible solvents do not resonantly absorb the laser energy at 2.9 μm, the emulsion with water enables high-quality, thin-film deposition with minimal photochemical and structural degradation for almost any polymer of interest. In addition, the advantages of emulsion-based RIR-MAPLE for conjugated polymer-based optoelectronic devices are demonstrated by two important studies. First, conjugated polymer films deposited by RIR-MAPLE are shown to have higher hole drift mobilities than films deposited using traditional drop-casting and spin-casting techniques. Second, the unique capability of RIR-MAPLE to enable conjugated polymer-based optical heterostructures is demonstrated by the fabrication and characterization of a multi-layer, polymer distributed Bragg reflector.  相似文献

The interfaces between metal electrodes and the oxide in TiO2-based memristive switches play a key role in the switching as well as in the IV characteristics of the devices in different resistance states. We demonstrate here that the work function of the metal electrode has a surprisingly minor effect in determining the electronic barrier at the interface. In contrast, Ti oxides can be readily reduced by most electrode metals. The amount of oxygen vacancies created by these chemical reactions essentially determines the electronic barrier at the device interfaces.  相似文献

In nanoscale memristive switching devices, the statistical distribution of resistance values and other relevant parameters for device operation often exhibits a lognormal distribution, causing large fluctuations of memristive analog state variables after each switching event, which may be problematic for digital nonvolatile memory applications. The state variable w in such devices has been proposed to be the length of an undoped semiconductor region along the thickness of the thin film that acts as a tunnel barrier for electronic transport across it. The dynamical behavior of w is governed by the drift diffusion of ionized dopants such as oxygen vacancies. Making an analogy to scanning tunneling microscopes (STM), a closed-loop write scheme using current feedback is proposed to switch the memristive devices in a controlled manner. An integrated closed-loop current driver circuit for switching a bipolar memristive device is designed and simulated. The estimated upper limit of the feedback loop bandwidth is in the order of 100 MHz. We applied a SPICE model built upon the TiO2 memristive switching dynamics to simulate the single-device write operation and found the closed-loop write scheme caused a narrowing of the statistical distribution of the state variable w.  相似文献

A quadrupole dielectrophoretic microdevice was utilized to examine the ABO-Rh dependencies on erythrocyte polarizations. This important step toward medical microdevice technology would transform key clinical blood tests from the laboratory into the field. Previous work in dielectrophoretic microdevices demonstrated that the large number of ABO antigens on erythrocyte membranes impacts their dielectrophoretic signature at 1 MHz. This work explores the dielectrophoretic behavior of native human erythrocytes categorized by their ABO-Rh blood types and directly compares these responses to the same erythrocyte sample modified to remove the A and B antigens. A β(1-3)-galactosidase enzyme was utilized to cleave the ABO polysaccharide backbone at the galactosidase bonds. The enzymatic reaction was optimized by comparing agglutination of the native and modified blood cells in addition to UV-Vis and HPLC analysis of the reaction effluent for saccharide residues. Next, the dielectrophoretic behaviors of the native and modified erythrocytes were visually verified in a quadrupole electrode microdevice over a frequency range from 100?kHz to 80?MHz. The lower cross-over frequency (COF), which transitions from negative to positive dielectrophoresis, for ABO blood types tested (A+, A-, B+, B-, AB+, O+ and O-) differed over the range from 17 to 47?MHz. The COFs of the corresponding enzyme-modified erythrocytes were also determined and the range narrowed to 29-41 MHz. A second COF in the 70-80?MHz range was observed and was reduced in the presence of the transmembrane Rhesus factor. These results suggest that antigen expression on erythrocyte membrane surfaces influence cell polarizations in nonuniform AC fields.  相似文献
