Abstract In this study the graft copolymerization of acrylamide (AAm) on swollen poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) fibers using cerium ammonium nitrate (CeAN) initiator was investigated. Five organic solvents, dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO), morpholine, acetic acid (HAc), n-butanol, and 1,2-dichloroethane (DCE), were used as swelling agents. DMSO was found to be the most suitable swelling agent. Solvent diffusion into the fibers was observed to increase with treatment time and temperature. The optimum graft yield was obtained when fibers were grafted after having been swollen in DMSO for a period of 1 hour at 140°C. Variation of graft yield with polymerization time and temperature, and monomer, initiator, and acid concentrations were investigated. Graft yields were observed to increase initially with polymerization time, then to level off, and were found to increase up to a certain monomer and Ce4+ concentration, then to decrease slightly. The effect of grafting on such fiber properties as diameter, viscosity, and moisture gain were also investigated. 相似文献

Well‐defined, high‐density poly(2‐(2‐methoxyethoxy)ethyl methacrylate) [poly(MEO2MA)] brushes were fabricated through a reliable strategy by the combination of self‐assembly of a monolayer of 3‐aminopropyltrimethoxy silane on silicon surface to immobilize 4‐cyano‐4‐(dodecylsulfanylthiocarbonyl)sulfanyl pentanoic acid chain transfer agent and reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer‐mediated polymerization of MEO2MA. The whole fabrication process of the poly(MEO2MA) brushes was followed by water contact angle, grazing angle‐Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and atomic force microscopy. Characterization of the poly(MEO2MA) brushes, such as molecular weight and thickness determination, were measured by gel permeation chromatography and ellipsometry, and the grafting density was estimated. The temperature‐responsive property of the poly(MEO2MA) brushes was further investigated and the result verified the brush‐to‐mushroom phase transition of the poly(MEO2MA) chains from low to high temperature. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A polyindoline permselective polymer film was readily synthesized by an electrochemical polymerization of indoline in an
aqueous solution of KCl at a potential of 0.4 V vs Ag/AgCl. The amperometric responses of the polyindoline film-coated platinum
electrodes to electroactive (ascorbic acid, oxalic acid and hydrogen peroxide) and non-electroactive (lactose, sucrose and
urea) substances were measured at a potential of 0.7 V. Effects of various variables such as film thickness, concentrations
of monomer and electrolyte, and pH on the permselective behavior of the polymeric membrane were systematically investigated
and the optimal values were determined. It was found that permselective polyindoline-coated electrodes prepared in this one-step
procedure permitted hydrogen peroxide oxidation while it prevented interference due to oxidizable species such as ascorbic
acid and oxalic acid. As a result, it is believed that this polymeric membrane, owing to its permselective character, can
be used as the protective material in the construction of hydrogen peroxide-based biosensors.

Three new lariat dilactam host molecules were prepared by the reaction of triethyleneglycol dicarboxylic acid dichloride withN,N-disubstitutèd-4,7-dioxa-1,10-diazadecane precursors. The amide nitrogen pivot of such compounds are substituted with the benzyl, octyl and dodecyl groups. The complexing ability of these dilactams is displayed with a series of metal complexes of Na+, K+, Ca2+, Sr2+, Pb2+ and Ag+ ions. Recycling of polymeric materials is usually accompanied by degradation and deleterious properties. Irradiation crosslinking of recycling low density polyethylene by electron beam and gamma rays could be the solution to improve their properties. This paper presents a comparison on the effects of gamma and electron irradiation on virgin and recycled polyethylene. Their mechanical, thermal and chemical properties were analyzed. VPE samples shown higher crosslinking percentages than RPE samples in all range of doses studied, unirradiated RPE samples had higher values on their tensile properties than VPE. Percentage crystallinity was similar in all range of doses studied. 相似文献
