BIOMARKERS INDICATING SEDIMENTARY PALEOENVIRONMENTS

Samples involved in this paper are 35 pieces of crude oils and 43 pieces of source rocks, from which a series of biomarkers, capable of indicating paleoecology and paleoenvironment. This will provide a scientific basis for tracing back to sedimenta-y paleoenvironment and paleoecology.     

SYNTHESIS OF THE NOVEL CHIRAL POLYMERS WITH MULTIDENTATE LIGAND AND RESOLUTION OF DL-AMINO ACIDS

A new way for synthesizing styrenic type of chiral resins grafting to multidentate ligand has been found. The synthetic scheme is proved to be practical by means of elemental anaysis, IR spectra and metal adsorbility. The resolving power of the new chiral ligand resins coordinated with copper (Ⅱ) as stationary phases has been discussed based on HPLC, and some points of view about the compositions of mobil phase and mechanism of resolution are presented.     

APPLICATION OF MSW-X_α METHOD WITH OVERLAPPING ATOMIC-SPHERE TO IONIZATION POTENTIALS FOR SOME PLANAR ORGANIC MOLECULES

Application of multiple scattered-wave X_α method with overlapping atomic-sphere to ionization potentials is reported for benzene, pyridine, pyrazine, pyrrole and imidazole. The calculated results show that the orbital charges in the intersphere region are non-negative and the energy levels get improvements in orderings.     

SYNTHESIS, STRUCTURE AND ELECTROCHEMICAL STUDIES ON SINGLE MoFe_3S_4 AND WFe_3S_4 CUBANE-TYPE CLUSTER COMPOUNDS*

Single cubane-like clusters, MFe_3S_4(R_2dtc)_5 (M=Mo, R_2=—(CH_2)_4—, Bz_2; M=W, R_2=Me_2, —(CH_2)4—; dtc=dialkyldithiocarbamate) were synthesized by assembly reaction of (NH_4)_2MS_4 (M=Mo, W), FeCl_2 with R_2dtcNa (or NH_4) in DMF. The structure, IR, EPR and cyclic voltammogram are described and discussed. MoFe_3S_4(C_4H_8dtc)_5 was also obtained from the conversion of linear cluster Fe(DMF)_6[(FeCl_2)_2MoS_4] in the presence of C_4H_8dtc NH_4. Both clusters MoFe_3S_4(C_4H_8dtc)_4·2C_2H_5CN and WFe_3S_4(C_4H_8dtc)_5·2DMF crystallize in the monoclinic space group C2/c with a=12.544(2), (Mo-cluster), 12.533(4) (W-cluster); b=20.478(4), 20.121(6); c=19.582(7), 19.659(2);β=102.82(2), 102.96(3)°; and Z=4, 4. Their structures were refined to R=0.057 and 0.064 with use of 2690 and 2179 reflections (ι>3Q(I)), respectively. Many similarities in structure for Mo and W clusters indicate that both Mo and W play a very similar role in the clusters.     

A DIAGNOSTIC STUDY OF FORMATION AND MAINTENANCE OF BLOCKING SITUATION ON THE NORTHERN HEMISPHERE USING E-P FLUX

In this paper, the variations of the mean flow, the E-P flux and its divergence of planetary waves in the process of the formation, maintenance and collapse of the blocking situation in the second half of February, 1979 are analysed with the transformed Eulerian mean-motion equations.Analysed results show that because the basic flow changes from the easterly into the westerly in the lower troposphere at high latitudes, the planetary wave for wavenumber 2 strongly propagates upwards, and because of the interaction between the upward propagating planetary wave and the basic flow, the westerty is weakened and approaches to the resonant flow of wavenumber 2 in the middle and upper troposphere (then, in the lower and middle Stratosphere). This may cause the anomalous amplification of planetary wave for wavenumber 2, and moreover make the mean flow change from the westerly into the easterly in the lower and middle stratosphere, following the upper troposphere. Therefore, the blocking situation can be formed a     

FOURIER TRANSFORM FAR INFRARED SPECTRA AND NORMAL COORDINATE ANALYSIS OF FIFTEEN RARE-EARTH OXALATE HYDRATES

The Fourier transform far infrared spectra of oxalate hydrates of whole rare-earth series except Pm and Sc are investigated in the range of 100-400 cm~(-1). The assignment of vibrational frequencies is made on the basis of normal coordinate analysis using our NORVIB program. The model used for the hghter elements of the lanthanide series (La to Eu) is based on the crystal structure of Nd_2(C_2O_4)_3. 10H_2O, in which each lanthanide ion is surrounded by nine O atoms, six from three oxalate ions and three from Water molecules.The model adopted for the heavier elements of the lanthanide series (Gd to Lu) and Ytterbium is based on the crystal structure of Yb_2(C_2O_4)_3· 6H_2O, in which each ion is surrounded by eight atoms, six from three oxalate ions and two from water molecules. The variation of the metal-ligand frequencies and force constants with the atomic numbers of lanthanides is plotted and discussed.     

ON THE ABRUPT CHANGE IN SOUTH ASIAN SUMMER MONSOON CLIMATE AND ITS SYNCHRONISM WITH THE GLOBAL RAPID WARMING

This paper has analysed the major characteristics of long-term variation, of summermonsoon climate in South Asia since 1888. An abrupt enhancement of summer monsoon inthe 1920s and its synchronism with the global rapid warming have been detected by theMann-Kendall Rank Statistic test. Based on diagnostic analysis on the atmospheric circulationover the monsoon region and the thermal conditions of both ocean and land during theperiod of abrupt change, it is found that the warming over land was stronger and earlierthan that over the ocean, which would enhance the land-sea thermal contrast and thereforebe favorable to the development of monsoon low and the disturbance in the monsoon flow.This may be a direct factor for the abrupt enhancement of summer monsoon.     

K~+-FREE INDUCED EARLY AFTERDEPOL-ARIZATION IN CARDIAC VENTRICULAR FIBERS OF GUINEA PIG AFTER COLD TREATMENT

The genesis and elimination of early afterdepolarizations (EADs) have been investigated in guinea pig cardiac ventricular fibers after a short period of cooling (5h, 2—4℃). After rewarming them to 37℃, EADs could be induced by K~+-free superfusion at an appropriate driving stimulation (0.2 Hz) in all preparations. A high level plateau, which linearly increases its duration with time, appears ahead of EADs. The critical point of the plateau occurred steadily at the level of -47±4 mV. Two types of triggered activity, all of which are the rhythmic activities in low level of membrane potential (-50 to -60 mV), appear on the platcau. There is no significant change after overdriving. Agonists of the Na-K pump (K~+ and Tl~+) could stop the rhythmic activity immediately and turn the low level of membrane potential to high one. The results showed that high level plateau is the basis of genesis of EADs, and the activation of Na-K pump plays an important part in stopping triggered rhythms arising from EADs.     

NEW KNOWLEDGE OF WUTONG FORMATION DEPOSITION AT THE LOWER YANGTZE AREA

In the light of the plate tectonics the outline of paleogeography, sedimentary properties and facies patterns in the depositional processes of the Wutong Formation at the Lower Yangtze area are discussed. The argument that the Wutong Formation contains not only terrestrial sediments but also marine-terrestrial transitional or marine sediments is expounded to cover the development, evolution and paleoclimate of the Wutong depositional regions.     

MULTIPHOTON EXCITATION OF A WATER MOLECULE IN INTENSE LASER FIELDS

A stretch vibration Hamiltonian of H_2O has been derived by using the second quantization, unitary transformations and the optimization of coefficients. The energy spectrum obtained from this Hamiltonian is in good agreement with that of experiments. The multiphoton excitation and the energy absorption of H_2O in intense laser fields have been calculated.
