We investigated the electronic structure of oxygen adsorbed on silicon surface in a head-on position, and showed that only the corresponding bonding structure is able to explain the features in UPS and ELS spectra that were not interpreted satisfactorily before. We also found that charge is transferred from backbonds to SiO bond and induces empty states localized between the first and second layers of the silicon surface.  相似文献

In recent articles we have introduced Friedmann thermodynamics, where certain geometric parameters in Friedmann models were treated like their thermodynamic counterparts (temperature, entropy, Gibbs potential, etc.). This model has the advantage of allowing us to determine the geometry of the universe by thermodynamic stability arguments. In this paper, in search for evidence for the definition of gravitational temperature, we will investigate a massless conformal scalar field in an Einstein universe in detail. We will argue that the gravitational temperature of the Einstein universe is given asT g=1/2) (c/k) (1/R 0), where R0 is the radius of the Einstein universe. This is in accord with our definition of gravitational temperature in Friedmann thermodynamics and determines the dimensionless constant as 1/2. We discuss the limitations of the model we are using. We also suggest a method to generalize our gravitational temperature to arbitrary space-times granted that they are sufficiently smooth.Based on three essays awarded honorable mention in the years 1987, 1988 and 1989 by the Gravity Research Foundation—Ed.  相似文献

In this paper a mathematical model based procedure for setting of pulling rate, capillary and thermal conditions to grow a silicon tube with prior established inner and outer radius by shaped growth with the catching boundary condition is presented. The model is defined by a set of three differential equations governing the evolution of outer radius, inner radius and the crystallization front level. The right hand members of the system of differential equations serve as tools for setting the above parameters. Numerical illustration and simulation of the growth process are presented.  相似文献

The plane strain indentation of single crystal films on a rigid substrate by a rigid wedge indenter is analyzed using discrete dislocation plasticity. The crystals have three slip systems at ±35.3° and 90° with respect to the indentation direction. The analyses are carried out for three values of the film thickness, 2, 10 and , and with the dislocations all of edge character modeled as line singularities in a linear elastic material. The lattice resistance to dislocation motion, dislocation nucleation, dislocation interaction with obstacles and dislocation annihilation are incorporated through a set of constitutive rules. Over the range of indentation depths considered, the indentation pressure for the 10 and thick films decreases with increasing contact size and attains a contact size-independent value for contact lengths . On the other hand, for the films, the indentation pressure first decreases with increasing contact size and subsequently increases as the plastic zone reaches the rigid substrate. For the 10 and thick films sink-in occurs around the indenter, while pile-up occurs in the film when the plastic zone reaches the substrate. Comparisons are made with predictions obtained from other formulations: (i) the contact size-independent indentation pressure is compared with that given by continuum crystal plasticity; (ii) the scaling of the indentation pressure with indentation depth is compared with the relation proposed by Nix and Gao [1998. The atomic transition probabilities are calculated for individual lines between some quartet terms of 3p↦4d and 3p↦5d transition arrays using weakest bound electron potential model theory (WBEPMT). In the determination of relevant parameters which are needed for calculation of transition probabilities, we employed numerical non-relativistic Hartree-Fock wave functions for expectation values of radius in both ground and excited states unlike to NCA method used on traditional WBEPMT procedure. We have obtained very good agreement between our results and the accepted values taken from NIST.  相似文献

Due to the multipolar ground state nuclear deformations (β 2, β 3, β 4,...) the cold synthesis of heavy and superheavy elements is dependent on the mutual orientation of target and projectile. When going from lower bombarding energies to higher bombarding energies, windows for orientations are occurring and others are disappearing. The cold fission is also strongly dependent on the deformation but is more selective in respect to orientation of fragments at scission. The measured cold fission yields of 252Cf show that only one orientation window is active. I propose a qualitative receipt based on the orientation windows of the driving potential which serves as a guidance in understanding the fission and quasifission mass distributions in the synthesis of heavy and superheavy elements.  相似文献

In global optimization, a typical population-based stochastic search method works on a set of sample points from the feasible region. In this paper, we study a recently proposed method of this sort. The method utilizes an attraction-repulsion mechanism to move sample points toward optimality and is thus referred to as electromagnetism-like method (EM). The computational results showed that EM is robust in practice, so we further investigate the theoretical structure. After reviewing the original method, we present some necessary modifications for the convergence proof. We show that in the limit, the modified method converges to the vicinity of global optimum with probability one.  相似文献

A pH-based biosensor for detection of arsenic in drinking water   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Arsenic contaminated groundwater is estimated to affect over 100 million people worldwide, with Bangladesh and West Bengal being among the worst affected regions. A simple, cheap, accurate and disposable device is required for arsenic field testing. We have previously described a novel biosensor for arsenic in which the output is a change in pH, which can be detected visually as a colour change by the use of a pH indicator. Here, we present an improved formulation allowing sensitive and accurate detection of less than 10 ppb arsenate with static overnight incubation. Furthermore, we describe a cheap and simple high-throughput system for simultaneous monitoring of pH in multiple assays over time. Up to 50 samples can be monitored continuously over the desired time period. Cells can be stored and distributed in either air-dried or freeze-dried form. This system was successfully tested on arsenic-contaminated groundwater samples from the South East region of Hungary. We hope to continue to develop this sensor to produce a device suitable for field trials.  相似文献

In this paper a necessary and sufficient condition is found for the existence of non-zero modes, which satisfy the Pridmore–Brown equation and the mass-spring-damper impedance boundary condition. The flowing fluid is assumed to be inviscid, non-slipping and compressible. The mean flow velocity profile in the equation is assumed to be function of y only. The condition which is found defines in fact a dispersion relation, which has to be used in the linear stability analysis of the flow also by Briggs–Bers method. As far as we know, the dispersion relation reported in the present paper is new and it is not an obvious consequence of other results already reported in the literature. The numerical illustration shows that the dispersion-relation is effective and for the considered numerical data reveals the existence of mode type initial perturbations whose amplitude increase exponentially in time showing linear instability. In the same time the numerical illustration reveals the existence of mode type initial perturbations whose amplitude decrease exponentially tending to zero for t tending to plus infinity.  相似文献
