Antioxidant and cytotoxic properties of some new dipeptide-indole conjugates

In this study, 10 new indole-dipeptide conjugates were synthesized, and their anticancer activity was determined against on A2780 (ovarian cancer cell line) and MCF-7 (breast cancer cell line) cells. Among compounds, 5 and 10 showed better activity against A2780 cell lines than the standard drug docatexel at 0.1 and 1 μM concentrations, while only compound 5 showed better activity than docatexel, the MCF-7 cell line at 0.1 and 1 μM concentrations. The antioxidant potencies of the compounds were low in both the DPPH and iron reducing power methods tested when compared to standard antioxidants used in this work.     

Synthesis of new aminophosphine complexes and their catalytic activities in C-C coupling reactions

Two new aminophosphines, benzyl-N(Ph₂P)₂ and 2-picolyl-N(Ph₂P)₂, have been synthesized. Oxidation of the aminophosphines with either hydrogen peroxide, elemental sulfur and selenium gave the corresponding oxides, sulfides and selenides benzyl-N(Ph₂PE)₂ and 2-picolyl-N(Ph₂PE)₂, where E = O, S, or Se. Complexes [benzyl-N(Ph₂P)₂]MCl₂ and [2-picolyl-N(Ph₂P)₂]MCl₂, where M = Pd, Pt, were obtained by the reaction of the aminophosphines with MCl₂(cod). The new compounds were characterised by NMR, IR spectroscopy and microanalysis. Furthermore, representative solid-state structures of the palladium and platinum complexes were determined using single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The palladium complexes were further investigated as potential catalysts in C-C coupling reactions.     

LC Assay of Eletriptan in Tablets and In Vitro Dissolution Studies

Eletriptan (ELT) is a new selective serotonin agonist approved for the treatment of acute migraine headaches. A simple and rapid liquid chromatographic method was developed and validated for the assay of ELT in tablets. Chromatography was carried out on a 250 mm × 4.6 mm C₁₈ column at 30 °C. Acetonitrile–15 mM triethylamine solution (adjusted to pH 7.0 using concentrated o-phosphoric acid) (60:40, v/v) mixture was used as mobile phase at 1.0 mL min^?1 flow rate and UV detector was set at 225 nm. A linear response (r ²  = 0.9999) was observed in the range of 0.1–1.6 μg mL^?1. The method showed good recoveries (100.08 %) and the RSD values for intra- and inter-day precision were 0.78–1.93 and 1.10–2.15%, respectively. The method can be used for quality control assays and in vitro dissolution studies of ELT in tablets.     

Synthesis of Pd(II) 1-alkylperimidine complexes as efficient catalysts for Suzuki reactions involving arylchlorides

Three palladium(II) complexes of the type [PdCl₂(PPh₃)L] (L—1-alkylperimidine) have been prepared by reactions of [PdCl₂(PPh₃)]₂ with 1-alkylperimidine. The complexes were characterized by conventional spectroscopic methods and elemental analyses. Spectral and temporal investigations of nonlinearities in a non-polarization preserving single-mode optical fibre

Intense green and red components generated in a non-polarization preserving optical fibre using a Q-switched and mode-locked cw Nd: YAG laser have been examined spectrally and temporally with picosecond resolution. In addition to the red (four-photon interaction) and green (second-harmonic) components, many other frequency mixing processes were detected. From theoretical considerations, the red component (anti-Stokes) which is generated through parametric four photon mixing should be in the same propagation mode as the Stokes component (ir) and this was confirmed experimentally.     

Non-gray radiative transfer in plane-parallel media with reflecting boundaries

A generalized equation of radiative transfer in the two-group picket-fence model is analyzed for a plane parallel, emitting, absorbing and isotropically scattering medium containing uniform heat sources and having boundary surfaces which are diffuse emitters and diffuse reflectors and are maintained at uniform but arbitrary temperatures. The solution of the general problem is expressed by the superposition of simpler problems which are solved by the application of the normal-mode-expansion technique. Highly accurate numerical results are presented for the temperature distribution and the radiative heat flux in the medium.     

Receptances of non-proportionally and continuously damped plates—Reduced dampers method

This paper presents a method for the dynamic analysis of continuously and non-proportionally damped plates in bending modes. The damping can be in the form of constrained or unconstrained layers. The method is an extension of the equivalent dampers method discussed in a previous paper, in which the damping matrix of a discretized plate is replaced by a diagonal equivalent damping matrix. Each diagonal element represents an equivalent damper inserted between the structure and ground. In this method the number of equivalent dampers is reduced so that the receptance matrix of the damped structure can be obtained economically by a direct matrix method. The receptances of two different partially coated plates in transverse directions are computed by the method suggested. The verification of the results is demonstrated by comparison with the experimental values and also with the theoretical values obtained by the equivalent dampers method. The method presented can also be applied to the transverse vibration analysis of plates with discrete damping inserts.     

Determination of fluorine in iron ore and apatite

A method is described for the determination of fluorine in iron ores, apatites and phosphate rocks, based on ion exchange on Dowex 2-X10 resin, and elution with strong hydrochloric acid. The determination is completed by a modified zirconium-eriochrome cyanine R spectrophotometric procedure.     

Synthesis,characterization, optimum reaction conditions,and some polymer–metal complexes of poly(phenoxy-imine)s containing furan ring

In this study, Schiff bases containing azomethine (–HC=N–) compounds were synthesized from the condensation reaction of 4-aminophenol and 2-aminophenol and 5-methyl-2-furaldehyde. Orange-colored Schiff bases, 4-[(5-methyl- 2-furyl) methyleneamino] phenol (4MFMAP) and 2-[(5-methyl-2-furyl) methyleneamino] phenol (2MFMAP) turned to poly-4-[(5-methyl-2-furyl) methyleneamino] phenol (P-4MFMAP) and poly-2-[(5-methyl-2-furyl) methyleneamino] phenol (P-2MFMAP) polyazomethine derivatives by NaOCl oxidant in alkaline aqueous medium. In addition, poly-2-[(5-methyl-2-furyl) methyleneamino] phenol cobalt (II) and copper (II) complexes were synthesized. FTIR and NMR measurements for structural analysis of the synthesized compounds, UV–Vis analysis for optical properties, electrical conductivity measurements, and thermal analysis with the TG–DTA techniques were determined. The yield of P-4MFMAP and P-2MFMAP was found to be 84.6% and 78.6 as follows [4MFMAP] = 0.066, [KOH] = 0.198 [NaOCl] = 0.066 mol L^?1 at 60 °C for 3 h and [2MFMAP] = 0.066, [KOH] = 0.132 [NaOCl] = 0.066 mol L^?1 at 70 °C for 3 h, respectively.
