The reduction of Ni2+ ions at mercury electrodes in acidic perchlorate solutions, at perchlorate concentrations below 0.2 M, is characterized by absence of kinetic control in the preceding step, and by a complex reaction mechanism following the electron transfer. This reaction sequence is known to involve intermetallic compound formation between Ni and Hg and is best described, as shown here, by a parallel second and third order kinetic scheme. Apparent rate coefficients for this kinetic scheme were determined using cyclic chronopotentiometric data and fitting by digital simulation. A linearization test of computed kinetic rate coefficients versus the number of transitions permits quantitative tests of validity of assumptions made. 相似文献

The electronic spectra of tetrathiotetracene (TTT) and of its mono- and dipositive ions have been calculated by the Pariser-Parr-Pople (PPP) method. Furthermore, the band polarizations of the first two bands of TTT have been measured. A reasonable band assignment is given using a new set of PPP parameters based on spectral data of a naphthalene derivative containing similar typical weak S-S bond. Some fractions of beer-factory wastewaters represent an important environmental concern owing to their high content of polyphenols and dark-brown color. The capacity of Coriolopsis gallica to preferentially degrade lignin has been successfully applied in our laboratory to the biotreatment and decolorization of paper-industry effluents. In this work, the ability of this white-rot fungus to degrade high-tannin-containing wastewaters is evaluated. Under all the conditions studied, effluent decolorization and chemical oxygen demand reduction achieved by C. gallica at day 12 of incubation were close to 50 and 65%, respectively. No adhesion of dark color to the fungal mycelium was observed suggesting that decolorization could be ascribed to C. gallica degradation systems. Mycelium dry-weight values showed that C. gallica is tolerant to relatively high tannin content present in the effluent samples. In the sample containing the highest effluent concentration (60% v/v), dry-weight values suggested an inhibition of fungal growth at day 6 of incubation and a further adaptation of the fungus to the stressing tannin effect at day 12 of fungal treatment. Pyrolysis/gas chromatography/mass spectrometry results showed a decrease of polyphenols pyrolysis products, mainly phenol and guaiacol, with the incubation time. All these results indicate the potential use of C. gallica in bioremediation of tannin-containing industrial wastewaters and in other applications where a reduction in polyphenols content is required. 相似文献

Adsorptive stripping voltammetry was used for the determination of trace amounts of the dye Tartrazine (E-102) by square-wave
(SWS) and differential pulse techniques (DPS). Its adsorptive voltammetric behaviour was investigated at different pH media.
NH4Cl/NH3 buffer solution was chosen as the most suitable, taking into account the sensitivity and definition of the reduction peaks
obtained. The effects of the experimental parameters on the determination are discussed. Standard deviations of 3.3% and 2.6%
were obtained by SWS and DPS for 100 and 50 μg/L Tartrazine solutions, respectively (n = 10). Both methods were applied to
determine the dye in several commercial soft drinks, containing very small amounts of it. Measurements were made directly
in the commercial samples. A comparison of the results obtained by the proposed voltammetric methods with those of an HPLC
method was also made. Good correlations between the voltammetric results and the values supplied by the manufacturer were
found, whereas recoveries of the same order of magnitude were obtained by the HPLC method.

A versatile process for the preparation of a number of 3-thio-substituted furans 1–4 is described. These products have very low odor thresholds and are thus potent flavor compounds. Fur-3-yl thiocyanates 10a , b as well as other S-containing analogues ( 2b , 7a , b , and 8 ) were prepared by a Michael-type addition of thiocyanic acid, thioacetic acid, alakanethiols, and sodium thiosulfate to alkynones 6 or 15 , followed by cyclization (Schemes 3 and 4). Summary The effect of pre-adsorbed benzene and ethanol on the adsorptive properties of natural zeolite (clinoptilolite) has been studied
by gas-solid chromatography. It has been shown that modification of the solid surface by volatile organics has a significant
influence on the adsorptive properties. The modification is of the same order as the more difficult modification by inorganics,
as illustrated here by clinoptilolite modification with Co2+. Energy distribution of surface adsorptive sites appears to be continuous and confirms previous finding that only a small
proportion of active sites is responsible for most adsorbate retention.
